1) Work area safety

a) Keep the work area clean and well illuminated.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive environments, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks that can light dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can make you lose control of the tool.

2) Electric safety

a) The power tools plugs must match the socket. Never modify the plug. Do not use adapter plugs with earthed power tools. The unmodified plugs and the suitable sockets reduce the risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces, like pipes, radiators, stoves and refrigerators. There is a higher risk of electric shock if your body is in touch with the ground.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. The

water inlet in a power tool increases the risk of electric shock.

3) Personal safety

a) Stay alert and use common sense when using a power tool. Do not use power tools if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. Lack of attention while operating power tools can result in serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective gear, like dust mask, non-slip safety footwear, helmet or hearing protection, used under the appropriate conditions, will reduce the risk of injuries.
c) Avoid unintentional start-up. Make sure the switch is in Off position before connecting the tool to a power source and/or battery, or before picking it up or transporting it. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in power tools with the switch in the On position will result in injuries.
d) Remove any spanners or wrenches before switching on the power tool. Leaving a spanner or wrench in a rotary piece of the tool may cause injuries.
e) Do not exert too much force when using the tool. Keep your feet firmly on the ground and maintain your balance at all times. This will provide better control of the electric tool in unexpected situations.
f) Wear appropriate clothes. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery or long hair can get caught in moving parts.
g) If adapters are provided for the connection of dust

extraction and collection, ensure that they are connected and used correctly. Dust vacuuming can reduce dust-related risks.

h) The confidence gained from frequent use of tools should not be a reason for ignoring general security principles. A careless action can cause serious injury in a fraction of a second.

4) Use and care of electric tools

a) Do not force the power tool. Use the appropriate power tool for the project. The proper electric tool will make your work better and safer using the speed for which it was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not switch it on and off. Any electric tool that cannot be controlled with a switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or remove the battery pack, if detachable, from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories or storing it. These preventive safety measures reduce the risk of the power tool starting up accidentally.
d) Store idle electric tools out of the reach of children and do not allow people unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of inexperienced users.
e) Maintenance of power tools and accessories. Check if the moving parts are misaligned or stuck, if there are broken pieces or any other condition that may affect operating of the electric tool. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.

f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Cutting tools properly maintained and with sharp cutting edges are less likely to jam and are easier to handle.

g) Use the electric tool, accessories and drill bits, etc. according to these instructions, taking into account work conditions and the work to be carried out. Use of the power tool for operations other than those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

h) Keep handles and gripping surfaces dry, clean and free of oil and grease. Slippery gripping surfaces do not allow safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.

5) Use and care of the batteries

a) Only recharge with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger suitable for one type of battery may create a fire hazard if used with another type of battery.

b) Use the power tool only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other type of battery may create a risk of injury and fire.

c) When the battery is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, such as paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, which can establish a connection from one terminal to another. A short circuit between the battery terminals can cause burns or fire.

d) Under harsh conditions, liquid may leak from the battery; avoid touching it. In case of accidental contact, rinse the affected part with water. If the liquid comes into contact with eyes, seek medical assistance immediately. Liquid leaking from the battery can cause skin irritation and burns.

e) Do not use a damaged or modified battery or tool. Damaged or modified batteries can show unpredictable behaviours leading to fire, explosion or risk of injury.

f) Do not expose a battery or tool to fire or excessive temperatures. Exposition to fire and high temperatures over 130 °C could cause an explosion.

g) Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery or the tool outside the temperature range specified in the instructions. Improper charging or charging at temperatures outside the specified range may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.

6) Service

a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified technician using only identical replacement parts. This ensures that the power tool remains safe.

b) Never repair damaged batteries. Battery maintenance must only be carried out by the manufacturer or authorised technician.

7) Charging safety

- Children aged from 8 years and above and people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge can use the charger if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the power tool in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

- Children must not play with the power tool or the power cable.

- Cleaning and maintenance tasks must not be carried out by unsupervised children.

- The power cable of this charger is not replaceable. Discard the charger if the power cable is damaged.

8) Use and handling of the charger

• Connect the charger only if the voltage of the socket matches the information on the rating plate.
• Connect the charger only to an easily accessible socket so that you can quickly disconnect it from the mains in the event of a malfunction.
• Always allow sufficient ventilation when charging the battery; gases may be released.
• Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.
• Keep the charger away from humidity.
• Never use the charger in environments where explosive or flammable materials are present. There is a risk of fire and explosion.
• Do not place objects on top of the charger and do not cover it.
• Keep the charger away from heat sources.
• Regularly check the charger for damage.
• Repair damaged chargers properly before reusing them.
• The charger must not be disassembled. Repairs should only be carried out by an authorised technician.
• Do not use the charger if it has been subjected to shocks or falls.
• Always unplug the charger from the power supply after use.
• Unplug the charger from the power supply before cleaning, servicing, storing and transporting, and allow it to cool completely.

9) General precautions

• Hold the electric tool by the insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation in which the tool may come into contact with exposed wiring. The tool must not come into contact with live wires. This may result in electric shock.
• Keep the power tool and its accessories away from hot surfaces.
• Do not allow untrained people use the power tool and its accessories.
• People with physical or mental disabilities must not use power tools or accessories without supervision.
• Children must not play with, clean or try to repair the power tool and its accessories.
• Allow the tool to cool down completely after use before touching it.
• Always wait until all moving parts have stopped after working with the tool.

SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES

The confidence gained from frequent use of tools MUST NOT be a reason for ignoring general security principles. If you use this power tool in an unsafe or improper manner, personal injury may result.

1. Use hearing protectors with impact drills. Exposure to noise can cause hearing loss.
2. Use the auxiliary handles supplied with the tool. Loss of control can cause personal injury.
3. Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting accessory may contact hidden cables or its own cable. Contact with a “live” wire causes exposed metal parts of the tool to be “energised”

and the operator to receive an electric shock.

1. Always make sure you are working on a firm base or surface. Make sure that there is no one underneath when using the tool in high places.

2. Hold the tool firmly.

3. Keep hands away from rotating parts.

4. Do not leave the tool running. Use the tool by hand only.

2. BEFORE USE

• This appliance is packaged in a way as to protect it during transport. Take the appliance out of its box and remove all packaging materials. You can keep the original box and other packaging elements in a safe place. This will help you prevent damage to the machine when transporting it in the future. In case the original packaging is disposed of, make sure all packaging materials are recycled accordingly.
• Make sure all parts and components are included and in good conditions. If there is any piece missing or in bad conditions, contact the official Cecotec Technical Support Service

immediately.

- Do not remove the serial number of the appliance in order to keep a correct traceability of it in case of assistance.

3. ASSEMBLY

Charging the battery

Warning

The battery may be damaged due to improper charging.

1. To charge the battery correctly, you must first remove the battery and then insert the charger connector into the charging connector on the removable battery.

NOTE: Make sure the connector is firmly in place to ensure a good connection.

1. Once connected, plug the charger power supply into the mains socket.
2. When the charger is plugged in, an indicator light will light up in red to indicate that the battery is charging.

Once the battery is fully charged, the indicator light on the charger will be green.

1. Once charged, disconnect the charger from the mains socket first and then remove the charger connector from the battery.

2. Insert the charged battery back into the tool. Make sure it is correctly aligned and clicks into place until you hear a click.

NOTE:

• Allow the battery to fully charge before disconnecting it from the charger.
• To extend the battery life, avoid leaving it connected to the charger for extended periods once it is fully charged and store it in a cool, dry place when not in use.
• Only use the supplied charger to recharge your tool. The use of any other charger may damage the tool or create dangerous conditions.
• Only use a charger when charging the battery.

ENGLISH

• Never attempt to open the charger or the tool. Neither the tool nor the battery contain user serviceable parts inside. Contact the official Cecotec Technical Support Service.
• Always replace the battery with a new (or freshly charged) battery when the performance of the tool begins to decrease. Intense heat is extremely damaging to batteries; the more heat generated, the faster the battery loses power. A battery that gets too hot may have a short service life.
• Never over-discharge the battery by repeated use of the tool after the performance of the tool has decreased. Do not attempt to discharge the battery by continuously pressing the power switch. When battery performance begins to decrease, stop the tool and recharge the battery for optimum performance.
• Charge the battery at room temperature between 50° F - 104° F ( 10° to 40° C). Store the tool and battery where temperatures do not exceed 120° F ( 49° C). This is important to prevent serious damage to the battery cells. The battery should be recharged when the tool starts to operate slowly. When not in use, keep the battery away from other metal objects such as paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other metal objects that can make a connection between one terminal and another. Short-circuiting the battery terminals may cause sparks, burns or fire.

Fitting or removing the battery

To install or remove the 00171_PowerForce 1620 Easy Hand battery, follow these steps:

1. Always switch the tool off before inserting or removing the battery.
2. To remove the battery, press the two release buttons on either side of the battery at the same time.
3. To reinsert it, hold it so that the front part fits into the corresponding hole.
4. Then. slide it in until it clicks into place completely.

To install or remove the 00184_PowerForce 2120 Impact battery, follow these steps:

1. First, place the Reverse/Lock switch in the central position (lock).
2. Next, insert the battery by placing it on the guide and gently push it into the battery holder until it clicks.
3. To remove the battery from the tool itself, press the battery release button and remove the battery.

NOTE:

• Always insert the battery all the way in.
• When it is fully engaged, you will hear a click.
• If the battery is not fully inserted and is loose, it could accidentally fall out and cause injury.
• Do not use force when inserting the battery. If the battery does not slide in easily, this means that it is not being inserted correctly.

WARNING: Before carrying out any maintenance or repair work on the tool, make sure that the tool is switched off and that the battery has been removed.

Inserting or removing the drill bit. Fig. 3

When the tool is not operating, the motor drive is locked, so the drill chuck can be opened without using a drill chuck key. To insert and remove drill bits, proceed as follows:

1. First, place the Reverse/Lock switch in the central position (lock).
2. Then, turn the drill chuck counterclockwise to open it.
3. Remove the drill bit from the drill chuck if necessary.
4. Place the drill bit suitable for the work to be carried out in the drill chuck.
5. Finally, tighten the drill chuck by turning it clockwise.

Warning

Risk of burns. Do not remove the drill bit unless the appliance is off and has completely cooled down.

Setting the torque level

1. The torque level has 18 different settings.
2. To select one of them, turn the adjustment knob until the mark points to the desired number so that the number is aligned with the mark.
3. The torque level shall be minimum when set to 1, and maximum when set to 18.

NOTE: Before the final drilling, test the same or similar material. This allows you to check the torque level you really need for the job you want to do.

4. OPERATION

Warning:

• It is very important to always check that the drill bit is correctly fixed and centred in the drill chuck before using the device.
• Every drill bit is marked by size and shape. When fixing them in the drill chuck, you must check that there is no play.
• Use the central locking position of the Reverse/Lock switch for breaks in work or for changing drill bits or other accessories.

ENGLISH

• Insert the battery until it clicks into place. If the battery is not fully inserted and is loose, it could accidentally fall out and cause injury.
• Hold the tool firmly with one hand on the handle and the other on the bottom of the battery.
• When drilling or screwing into walls, floors or anywhere else where live electrical wires may be present, do not touch any metal parts of the tool! Hold it by the plastic handle to avoid shock.
• Hold the drill firmly to control the twisting action.
• Do not hold the tool or place your hands too close to the rotating parts or drill bit when it is rotating, as this could injure your hands or cause injury.
• Hold firmly the material being drilled. Never hold it in your hand or hold it between your legs. Unstable support can cause loss of control and injury.
• Position yourself so as to avoid getting caught between the tool or the side of the handle and walls and posts. If the drill chuck or drill bit is bent or jammed during operation, the reaction torque of the tool could hit your hand or leg hard.
• Make sure that all drill chuck keys of all types are removed from the drill before switching on the tool. The drill chuck keys can jump at high speed, hitting you or a bystander.
• When using the drill, always hold it firmly with both hands to avoid losing control.
• Keep the drill handle dry, clean and free of oil and grease. Do not operate the drill while carrying it at your side. If the bushing or drill bit is spinning, it could become entangled in your clothing and cause personal injury.
• Disconnect the plug or battery from the tool and place the switch in the locked or off position before performing any assembly, adjustment, changing accessories, inspection, maintenance or cleaning procedures. Such preventive measures reduce the risk of the machine starting up accidentally.
• Do not use the drill if it has been damaged, exposed to rain, snow, wet or damp environments, or submerged in liquid.

Activating the trigger

WARNING:

Before inserting the battery into the tool, always check that the trigger can be actuated correctly and that it returns to the off position when released.

1. To start the electric drill, simply pull the trigger.
2. The speed of the tool increases as the pressure on the trigger increases.
3. Release the trigger to stop the drill.

Electric brake

- This tool is equipped with an electric brake.

- If the tool does not stop quickly after releasing the trigger, please contact the official Cecotec Technical Support Service.

Screwing

WARNING: Adjust the Torque adjustment knob to the level of turning force depending on the operation to be performed.

1. Place the tip of the drill bit on the head of the screw and apply pressure with the drill.
2. Start slowly and then gradually increase the speed.
3. Release the trigger when the safety clutch is activated.

WARNING: Make sure that the drill bit is inserted straight into the screw head, otherwise the screw and/or the drill bit may be damaged.

Warning! The drill can jam (if overloaded or used improperly) causing a twist. Always wait for the jamming. Hold the drill firmly to control the twisting action and thus prevent loss of control that could cause personal injury. If the drill jams, release the trigger immediately and determine the reason for the jamming before restarting the operation.

Note:

When screwing wood screws, pre-drill pilot holes to facilitate screwing and prevent breakage of the workpiece.

WARNING: Before carrying out any maintenance or repair work on the tool, make sure that the tool is switched off and the battery is removed.

Drilling

• During drilling, it is advisable to take breaks and remove the drill bit from the device to allow it to cool down.
• It is strongly recommended that the workpiece be firmly clamped using suitable clamping devices.

• You must select the speed level depending on the type of material used and the size of the drill bit:

• For small drilling diameters / soft materials > high speed.

• For large drilling diameters / hard materials > low speed.

• Mark the point to be drilled properly before drilling.

• To work on metal materials it is advisable to select a low speed and use suitable drills (speed steel HSS).
• Drill bits used for drilling on metal can also be used for drilling plastic materials.
• After use, it is advisable to cool the drill bits with a suitable lubricant.
• For drilling wood, it is advisable to use specific drill bits.
• In order to avoid breaking the piece of wood to be worked on, you can place another block of wood under the piece of wood or you can drill on both sides.
• If the drilling on wood is going to be very deep, you can use an auger bit (not included). For large drilling you can use a Forstner type drill bit (not included). For other uses, you can use a wood drill bit with a centered tip.

Switching on the worklight.

WARNING: Do not look directly at the light.

1. The light will switch on when you pull the trigger.
2. It will remain on until you release it.
3. The light will turn off 10 -15 seconds after the trigger is released.

Note: Use a dry cloth to clean it. Be careful not to scratch it, as this could diminish the illumination.

Actuating the Reverse rotation

1. This tool has a switch to reverse the direction of rotation. If you move the switch to one side, the tool will rotate clockwise.
2. If you press the opposite side, the tool will rotate in reverse.
3. If you do not press either side of the button, you will not be able to operate the trigger.
4. You must press the switch clockwise or counterclockwise to change the rotation direction.

WARNING: Always check the direction of rotation before using the tool.

• Press the Reverse switch only when the tool has come to a complete stop. Changing the direction of rotation before the tool stops could damage the tool.
• When you are not using the tool, make sure that neither side of the Reverse switch is pressed down.
• You can carry out a test run before starting work, as an incorrect rotating direction can cause damage to both the workpiece and the insertion tool.
• If you set the Reverse switch to its central locking position, you also lock the on/off trigger.

Changing speed

1. If you want to change the speed, first turn the tool off, then slide the Speed level knob to position 2 (high speed) or 1 (low speed).
2. Make sure the knob is in the proper position before starting the tool.
3. Choose the speed you want depending on your needs.

WARNING:

• Make sure the knob is in the proper position before starting the tool. If you use the tool with the knob set halfway between position 1 and 2, the drill may be damaged.
• Do not change the position of the knob to change the speed while the tool is running. Doing so may damage the drill.

5. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

- Risk of injury, always switch off the device and remove the battery before carrying out any change on the device.

Maintenance

Warning

• Do not touch the plug with wet or damp hands.
• Maintenance tasks that require opening the housing must only be carried out by authorised specialist companies or by Cecotec.

ENGLISH

1. Switch off the appliance.
2. Unplug the power cable from the power outlet by pulling the plug from the socket.
3. Allow the appliance to completely cool down.

Cleaning

The device must be cleaned before and after every use.

Warning due to electrical voltage

• There is a risk of short-circuit due to liquids entering the housing.
• Do not immerse the device nor the accessories into water. Ensure that no water or other liquids enter the housing.
• Clean the appliance with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Make sure that no moisture enters the housing.
• Protect electrical components from moisture.
• Do not use aggressive cleaning agents such as cleaning sprays, solvents, alcohol-based cleaners or abrasives to dampen the cloth.
• Dry the appliance with a soft, lint-free cloth.
• It is not necessary to lubricate the appliance after cleaning.
• Clean and dry the drill bits with a soft, lint-free cloth.
• Remove any dust or drilling debris, shavings, sawdust, etc. Pay particular attention to the drill chuck.
• Clean the connection terminals.
• Clean the ventilation openings properly to prevent the engine from overheating.

Warning

6. TROUBLESHOOTING

- During production, the appliance has been checked several times for proper functioning. If faults still occur, check the appliance according to the following list.

- Troubleshooting that requires opening the housing must only be carried out by authorised

specialist companies or by Cecotec.

Problem	Solution
The appliance emits a slight smoke or odour during the first use	This is not a fault. These phenomena disappear after a short period of operation.
The appliance does not switch on	Assemble the battery properly, clean the connection terminals or recharge the battery if necessary. If you notice any damage, do not attempt to restart the appliance. To avoid safety hazards, do not carry out any repairs. Send the appliance to a specialised electrical company or to Cecotec to change the battery.
	If the problem is caused by the on/off trigger, contact the official Cecotec Technical Support Service.
The drill bit does not drill deep enough into materials	Select the appropriate torque for the material to be drilled.
	Increase the speed to its maximum level.
	Use a more suitable drill bit for the material to be worked on.
	Check the drill bit is suitable for such material.
The on/off trigger is locked	Check the Reverse/Lock switch is not in its central locking position.
	If the problem persists, contact the official Cecotec Technical Support Service.
The appliance is still not working properly after these checks	Contact the official Cecotec Technical Support Service. If necessary, take the appliance to an authorised specialist company or to Cecotec for repair.
