  • It is strongly recommended that you use lump charcoal. It lasts longer and produces less ash, which can restrict airflow.
  • Do not use charcoal in this appliance.
  • IMPORTANT: when opening the lid at high temperatures, it is essential to lift it only slightly, allowing air to enter slowly and safely, avoiding any backdraft or flame that could cause injury.
  • Do not use the barbecue on wooden decks or other flammable surfaces such as dry grass, wood chips, leaves or decorative bark.
  • Make sure that the barbecue is placed at least 2 metres away from flammable elements.
  • Do not use the barbecue as a melting furnace.
  • Heat-resistant gloves should always be worn, especially when handling the air vent, hot ceramics or the cooking surface.
  • Allow the appliance to cool down completely before moving or storing it.
  • The barbecue should always be inspected before use for fatigue and damage and must be repaired when necessary by contacting the official Cecotec Technical Support Service.
  • The maximum amount of charcoal for this barbecue is 1 kg.

  • Open the bottom vent and light the newspaper using a long-shafted lighter or safety matches. Once lit, leave the bottom vent and lid open for about 10 minutes to create a small bed of hot coals.
  • It is recommended not to remove or turn the coals once they are lit. This allows the coals to burn more evenly and efficiently.
  • Once ignited, only use heat-resistant gloves when handling hot ceramics or firing surfaces.
  • It is recommended that the barbecue is heated, and the fuel is kept red hot for at least 30 minutes before the first cooking.
  • Do not cook before the fuel has an ash layer.
  • With the vents closed, the barbecue stays at a high temperature for several hours. If you need a longer cooking time (e.g. when roasting a whole piece or slow smoking), it may be necessary to add more charcoal. Just add more charcoal and continue.

2. BEFORE USE

  • This appliance is packaged in a way as to protect it during transport. Take the appliance out of its box and remove all packaging materials. You can keep the original box and other packaging elements in a safe place to prevent damage to the device if you need to transport it in the future. In case the original packaging is disposed of, make sure all packaging materials are recycled accordingly.
  • Make sure all parts and components are included and in good conditions. If there is any piece missing or in bad conditions, contact the official Cecotec Technical Support Service immediately.
  • Do not remove the serial number of the appliance in order to keep a correct traceability of it in case of assistance.

3. ASSEMBLING THE APPLIANCE

For assembly, you will need some basic tools, such as a crosshead screwdriver, an adjustable spanner and a pair of protective gloves. These tools will allow you to assemble your barbecue safely and efficiently.

It is important that you organise all parts and tools before you start. Check that all parts are present and in good condition. We recommend that you follow the order of the steps indicated in the figures to ensure correct assembly. In addition, it is essential to assemble the barbecue on a flat and safe surface to avoid any accident or damage to the barbecue.

Figure 2 to figure 9 show the detailed steps of the assembly process.

4. OPERATION

  • To light the fire, place rolled up newspaper with a few cubes or ignition tablets on the charcoal plate at the base of the barbecue. Then place one or two handfuls of charcoal on the newspaper.
  • Do not use gasoline, alcohol, lighter fluid, alcohol or other similar chemicals to ignite charcoal.
  • Open the bottom vent and light the newspaper using a long-shafted lighter or safety matches. Once lit, leave the bottom vent and lid open for about 10 minutes to create a small layer of hot coals.
  • It is recommended not to fan or turn the embers once they are lit. This allows the coal to burn more evenly and efficiently.
  • Once ignited, only use heat-resistant gloves when handling hot ceramics or cooking surfaces.
  • Allow the charcoal to heat up and remain red hot for at least 30 minutes before cooking for the first time on the barbecue.
  • Do not cook before the coals have a layer of ash.
  • To extinguish the fire, stop adding charcoal or kindling and close all vents and the top lid to allow the fire to burn out naturally.
  • Do not use water to extinguish the fire or ashes, as this could damage the barbecue ceramics.

5. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Regular cleaning

  • Before cleaning, you must ensure that the barbecue is completely cool and that all charcoal is extinguished.
  • Use an ash tool to remove the remaining charcoal and dispose of the ash. Be sure to remove all ash and dispose of it by wrapping the cold ashes in aluminium foil, soaking them in water and then disposing of them in a non-combustible container.

- Wipe the outside of the barbecue with a damp cloth to remove any spilled ingredients or residues. Avoid excessive rubbing of the band to prevent damage. The bands are cleaned during regular use of the barbecue.

Deep cleaning

  • Once or twice a year, the inside of the barbecue should be cleaned more thoroughly.
  • Before cleaning, make sure that the barbecue has cooled down completely and that all charcoal has been extinguished.
  • Remove the internal components and any residual ash or debris that has collected between the barbecue body and the internal components.
  • Use a plastic bristle brush to clean the inside ceramic surface.
  • Collect or vacuum all debris from the underside of the barbecue.
  • Clean the hinge and the outside of the barbecue.
  • Replace all internal components when they are completely dry.
