Frequently Asked Questions - VT100BK BLAUPUNKT

How do I connect the turntable to my speakers?
Use the included RCA cable to connect the line output to an amplifier or powered speakers. If your amp has a phono input, set the preamp switch to PHONO; otherwise set it to LINE.
Why is the turntable not spinning at the correct speed?
Check that the belt is properly seated on the motor pulley and platter. Over time, belts can stretch; replace if necessary. Also ensure the speed selector is set to the desired RPM.
How do I replace the stylus (needle)?
Gently pull the old stylus forward and down from the cartridge. Align the new stylus and push it upward until it clicks into place. Always handle with care to avoid damage.
What should I do if the sound is distorted or there is hum?
First, check that the turntable is level. Ensure all connections are tight. Make sure the preamp switch is set correctly. If hum persists, try moving the turntable away from speakers or other electronics.
Can I play 78 RPM records on this turntable?
The Blaupunkt VT100BK only supports 33 1/3 and 45 RPM. For 78 RPM records, you would need a turntable with that speed or a separate motor.
How do I adjust the tracking force?
Rotate the counterweight at the back of the tonearm. Use a stylus pressure gauge to set the recommended force (typically 1.5-2.5g for most cartridges). Consult your cartridge manual for exact value.
Is a phono preamp required?
The VT100BK has a built-in switchable preamp. If connecting to an amplifier with a phono input, set the switch to PHONO. For AUX or line inputs, set it to LINE.
Why does the turntable stop before the record ends?
The auto stop function may be too sensitive. Check if the mechanism is obstructed. Some turntables have an adjustable auto stop; if not, you may need to disable it.
How do I clean the records and stylus?
Use a carbon fiber brush to remove dust from records. For the stylus, dip a stylus brush in cleaning solution and gently brush from back to front. Do not use alcohol on the stylus.
What maintenance does the turntable require?
Periodically check the belt for wear and replace if needed. Lubricate the motor spindle with a drop of light oil every year. Keep the platter and tonearm area clean.

General notes regarding vinyl records:

  1. Before starting to play a vinyl record, try to clean it of any dust or dirt particles. To do this, use a suitable brush, and in the case of larger dirt, use a special liquid for cleaning vinyl records. These accessories are not included in the set.
  2. A dirty and dusty disc will have a major impact on the sound quality, which may result in crackling and minor distortions.
  3. If the surface of the record is uneven (a common phenomenon with older records), this may cause the record to sway during playback and change the track path, which will affect the sound quality. Please note that this is not a defect of this turntable. To minimize this phenomenon, try to place the record properly on the platter and fix it securely using the record fixator.

Play vinyl record

Please follow the steps below to play the record.

  1. Power on the unit, then short press the function knob repeatedly to enter vinyl mode. The signal LED indicator will light up in white.
  2. Press and hold the left and right lock buttons of the record fixator to release it from the storage cabinet on the rear panel.
  3. Gently place your vinyl record on the turntable platter, then put on the record fixator and clip the hold pin in the proper position to secure the record.
  4. Select the correct record size and speed on the front panel.
  5. Short press the play/stop button to start playing the record. The tonearm will automatically move to the edge of the record for the first track. Press the button again to stop playback, and the tonearm will return to the arm rest automatically.
  6. Push the backward/forward selector to skip to the previous or next track; press the up/down button to raise or lower the tonearm.
  7. Short press the repeat button to enable repeat playback for the record. The signal LED indicator will light up in green. When the record finishes playing, the unit will automatically return to the beginning and start playing again. Press the button again to cancel repeat mode.

Playing 45 RPM vinyl records: If you are playing a 45 RPM record, you must first mount the 45 RPM adapter on the turntable spindle. You can find the adapter in the storage cabinet on the rear panel. Refer to the drawing below for operation.

Playing vinyl records with Bluetooth signal transmission to an external device (Bluetooth OUT): This model has a Bluetooth OUT function, which allows wireless transmission of audio signal during vinyl record playback to external devices such as active Bluetooth speakers (e.g., BLAUPUNKT BS60, BS50, BS40 bookshelf speakers or others), Bluetooth headphones, and other speakers with Bluetooth IN module. To start the audio signal transmission to an external Bluetooth device, use the function knob (3) to select the vinyl record playback mode with Bluetooth signal transmission (the LED playback mode indicator should flash white, indicating it is ready to pair with an external Bluetooth device, and the speaker will emit a voice message - "VINYL STREAM"). Turn on the external Bluetooth device and switch it to Bluetooth pairing mode (refer to the user manual of the external device for details). This turntable will automatically detect and connect to the external Bluetooth device. After successful pairing, the LED indicator will light up steadily in white, and the speaker will emit a voice message – "CONNECTED". Then press the START/STOP button (9) to start playing the vinyl record, and the sound will be played through the external Bluetooth device.

Notes:

  1. Please note that in this playback mode, the volume control is available on the connected external device, not on this turntable.
  2. The optimal working distance between this turntable and the external Bluetooth device is 10 meters, without obstacles between the devices.

Bluetooth playback operation

This product includes a Bluetooth function which can wirelessly play music from other Bluetooth devices (like smartphones, tablets, TVs, etc.).

  1. Power on the unit, press the function knob repeatedly until the blue signal LED indicator is blinking, which means the unit is ready to pair.
  2. Enable the Bluetooth function on your device, and search for available devices (please reference your device manual for operation), then check the available Bluetooth device on the list. Select "BP VT100" for pairing, and the white signal LED will become stable after successful pairing.
  3. Select and play the music from your Bluetooth device, adjust the volume level properly, then the sound will come out from the speaker.
  4. In Bluetooth playback mode, you should use your Bluetooth device for operational controlling.

Notices:

a. All Bluetooth devices are not guaranteed for pairing successfully due to different design and brand. b. The best working distance of Bluetooth is within 10 meters without any obstacle in between. c. The unit only can pair and work with one Bluetooth device at a time. d. In case of an incoming phone call during Bluetooth playback, the music will stop temporarily and resume playback after the phone call ends.

RCA LINE OUT

The turntable provides one RCA line out jack which allows you to wire connect with an external loudspeaker for playback. It is available in vinyl and Bluetooth mode.

Using an RCA to RCA audio cable (not included), connect the RCA line out jack on the turntable with the RCA line in jack on your loudspeaker; switch to line in mode, and adjust the volume level on your external loudspeaker; select and play the music on the turntable, then you can get sound output both on the turntable and external loudspeaker.

In RCA line out playback, you can only control the volume level by the knob on the turntable and external loudspeaker separately. You can decrease the volume on the turntable in order to avoid overlapping the sound from the external loudspeaker.

Headphone output: connecting the headphone with the headphone jack on the rear panel can mute the sound from the turntable, but headphone output only. Please adjust the volume level for listening.

Using an appropriate cable, the signal from the headphone output can also be sent to the AUX input, e.g., in a micro system, active speakers, etc.

If you have Bluetooth headphones, you can try connecting and playing with the turntable in vinyl stream mode (Bluetooth out). The connection is the same as described above in this manual.

Replace the Stylus (AT3600L)

The stylus can last about 300 hours under normal use. It is recommended to replace the stylus as soon as you notice a change in sound quality.

1. Remove the Stylus from the cartridge

a. Place your fingers at the tip of the stylus and push down to "A". b. Pull the stylus out toward the direction "B".

Note: When applying force to the stylus, please remove it gently. Sudden strong force may damage or break the cartridge.
