Spread Spectrum
When the mainboard's clock generator pulses, the extreme values (spikes) of the pulses create EMI (Electromagnetic Interference). The Spread Spectrum function reduces the EMI generated by modulating the pulses so that the spikes of the pulses are reduced to flatter curves. If you do not have any EMI problem, leave the setting at Disabled for optimal system stability and performance. But if you are plagued by EMI, set to Enabled for EMI reduction. Remember to disable Spread Spectrum if you are overclocking because even a slight jitter can introduce a temporary boost in clock speed which may just cause your overclocked processor to lock up.
IMPORTANT
- If you do not have any EMI problem, leave the setting at [Disabled] for optimal system stability and performance. But if you are plagued by EMI, select the value of Spread Spectrum for EMI reduction.
- The greater the Spread Spectrum value is, the greater the EMI is reduced, and the system will become less stable. For the most suitable Spread Spectrum value, please consult your local EMI regulation.
- Remember to disable Spread Spectrum if you are overclocking because even a slight jitter can introduce a temporary boost in clock speed which may just cause your overclocked processor to lock up.
Load Optimized Defaults

Spread Spectrum
If the system clock generator produces pulses, its operation will cause electromagnetic interference - EMI (Electromagnetic Interference). The Spread Spectrum function reduces these interferences by generating spread pulses. If you do not have interference problems, leave the value [Disabled] for better stability and performance. However, if you encounter electromagnetic interference, enable the use of this function by setting [Enable]. Do not forget to disable the Spread Spectrum function if you are overclocking the system bus. This is necessary because even a small jitter of the clock generator signal can lead to a failure of the overclocked processor.
WARNING
- If you do not have interference problems, leave the value [Disabled] for better stability and performance. However, if you encounter electromagnetic interference, select Spread Spectrum to reduce it. The higher the Spread Spectrum value, the lower the level of electromagnetic interference, but the system becomes less stable. For the best choice of Spread Spectrum value, refer to the settings
level of electromagnetic interference set by legislation.
* Do not forget to disable the Spread Spectrum function if you are overclocking the system bus. This is necessary because even a small jitter of the clock generator signal can lead to a failure of the overclocked processor.
