Frequently Asked Questions - CHL 441 MOULINEX

Why does water come out of the soleplate holes?
The temperature may be too low to produce steam, or you are using the burst of steam function too often. Wait for the indicator light to go out and space out the presses.
How to remove brown stains on laundry?
Brown stains may result from using pure demineralized water or descaling products. Perform a self-cleaning and use tap water.
How to clean the anti-scale rod?
Unplug and empty the tank. Remove the rod by turning the steam button to the unlock position. Soak for 4 hours in white vinegar or lemon juice, rinse, then replace.
How to perform the self-cleaning of the iron?
Fill the tank to max, thermostat on MAX. When the indicator goes off, unplug and place the iron over a sink. Turn the steam button to the self-cleaning position for 15 seconds. Tilt the iron to drain water, then empty and dry the soleplate.
What water to use in the iron?
Use tap water. If the water is very hard, mix 50% tap water and 50% commercial demineralized water. Avoid pure demineralized water, dryer water, scented, softened, etc.
How to adjust the temperature and steam?
Use the thermostat according to fabric (linen: MAX, cotton: ***, wool: **, silk: •, synthetics: •). Set the steam button accordingly (linen: 1, cotton: 2, wool: 3, silk: 4, synthetics: 5). Start with delicate fabrics.
How to use the burst of steam function?
Press the burst of steam button to get an extra burst of steam. Wait a few seconds between presses to avoid drips.
Why does the iron produce little or no steam?
The tank may be empty, the iron may be scaled, or you have used it dry for too long. Fill with tap water or perform a self-cleaning.
How to store the iron after use?
Unplug and let cool. Empty the water tank, set the steam control to DRY, then store the iron on its heel.
What to do if the soleplate is scratched or damaged?
Avoid placing the iron flat on a metal support. Always use the heel of the iron. If the soleplate is scratched, contact an approved service center.

What water to use?

Your appliance has been designed to function with untreated tap water. However, it is necessary to operate the Self-Clean function regularly in order to eliminate hard water deposits. Types of water not to use?

Heat concentrates the elements contained in water during evaporation. Types of water listed below contain organic waste or mineral elements that can cause spitting, brown staining, or premature wear of the appliance: water from clothes dryers, scented or softened water, water from refrigerators, batteries, air conditioners, pure distilled water, pure demineralised water or rain water, boiled water, filtered or bottled mineral water. All of these should not be used.

- USING THE SELF-CLEANING FUNCTION In order to extend the life of your iron, use the Self-Cleaning function once per month (do not use descending agents).

  • Never touch the end of the valve.
  • Soak the valve in a cup of white vinegar or plain lemon juice for 4 hours.
  • Rinse the valve under running water.
  • Replace the anti-calc valve.
  • The iron will not function without the anti-calc valve.
  • The iron must be cold
  • Set the steam control button (C) to the dry position.
  • Fill the tank up to the maximum level and set the thermostat control dial (9) to MAX
  • Plug in the iron
As soon as the temperature control indicator light goes out, unplug the iron and hold it over the sink.
  • Turn the steam control button (C) to position "Self-Clean"
  • Hold the iron over the sink for 15 seconds.
The mixture of water / steam will take with it any residues of scale contained in the soleplate.
  • Re-set the steam control button (C) to the dry position
  • Using slow, deliberate movements, tilt the iron from left to right in order to rinse the soleplate thoroughly and to get rid of the remaining water.
  • Empty the tank
  • Plug in the iron again to dry the soleplate, which should be done over a cloth (watch out for any splashes of water and steam).
  • After this operation, unplug the iron again and allow it to cool before cleaning the soleplate.
  • Clean the soleplate (cold iron) with a piece of thick, clean, damp cotton before putting away the iron or before using it again.
The self-cleaning function helps to delay the scaling of your iron
