Frequently Asked Questions - VT-1229 CL Vitek

What type of water should I use in the Vitek VT-1229 CL iron?
Use regular tap water. If the water is hard, mix with distilled water at a ratio of 1:1; for very hard water, mix 1:2 or use only distilled water. Do not use scented liquids, vinegar, starch, or descaling agents.
How do I fill the water tank?
Ensure the iron is unplugged and cool. Set temperature to MIN and steam regulator to off. Open the lid, verify the cartridge is in place, use the measuring cup to fill to MAX level, then close the lid firmly.
How does the automatic shut-off work?
The iron switches off automatically if left horizontal for 30 seconds or vertical for 8 minutes. The indicator light blinks. Moving the iron resumes operation.
How do I use the self-clean function?
Set steam off, fill tank to MAX, set temperature to MAX, heat until indicator goes off, then unplug. Hold iron horizontally over sink, press and hold SELF-CLEAN button until all water and scale exit. Wipe soleplate when cool.
Can I use steam at low temperatures?
No. The iron has a drip valve that prevents steam at low soleplate temperatures. For steam ironing, set temperature to MAX or at least in the high range. Dry ironing is recommended for synthetic fabrics.
How do I replace the water softening cartridge?
Open the water tank lid, turn the cartridge counterclockwise and pull it upward. Insert a new cartridge, turn clockwise to lock, then close the lid.
What should I do if the iron does not produce steam?
Check that the steam regulator is set to a steam position (not off) and that the water tank has enough water. Ensure the temperature is set high enough (MAX for strong steam). If problem persists, clean the steam chamber.
How do I clean the soleplate?
Unplug and cool the iron. Wipe the soleplate with a damp cloth and mild vinegar solution, then polish with a dry cloth. Do not use abrasives or place on sharp metal objects.
How should I store the iron after use?
Set temperature to MIN, steam to off, unplug, drain remaining water from tank, close lid, and let cool completely. Store upright in a cool, dry place out of children's reach.
Can I use the iron for vertical steaming?
Yes, with temperature set to MAX. Hold iron vertically 10-30 cm from fabric and press the steam burst button at 4-5 second intervals. Do not use on synthetic fabrics or steam clothes while being worn.

(6) is blinking. When you start ironing the iron is switched on automatically.

Choice of water

To fill the water tank use regular tap water. If the water is hard then it is recommended to mix it with distilled water at a ratio of 1:1, if the water is very hard, mix it with distilled water at a ratio of 1:2 or use only distilled water.

Double anti-scale system

The iron is equipped with double anti-scale system that consists of installed self-clean system and Cartridge for water softening (14). If the water is hard in your region, follow the instruction of section “Choice of water”.

Before usage

  • Take out the iron from the package and remove the protective cartoon covering from the iron soleplate (13).
  • Make sure that the electrical supply voltage corresponds to the iron's operating voltage.

Filling the water tank

Make sure that the iron is disconnected from electrical power before filling it with water.

  • Set the temperature regulator (9) in position «MIN», set the steam release regulator (4) to the position «(to the position of steam vapor OFF).

Ironing temperature

  • Always check the recommended iron temperature indicated on the tag before ironing.
  • If the tag does not list the recommended iron-

ing temperature, but you know the type of fabric, then use the following table to determine the proper temperature.

Determination Fabric type (temperature)

.Synthetics, nylon, acryl, polyester (low temperature)
··Silk/wool (medium temperature)
···Cotton/linen (high temperature)
MAXMaximum temperature

The table is applicable only to smooth materials.- If another type of material (goffered, embossed, etc.), then it is best to iron it at low temperature.

  • First things are to be sorted according to ironing temperature: synthetics to synthetics, wool to wool, cotton to cotton, etc.
  • Iron heats up faster than gets cold. So first it is recommended to iron things at low temperature (for example, synthetic fabrics).
  • After that start ironing at higher temperatures (silk, wool). - Items made of cotton and linen should be ironed at the last turn.
  • If the material contains mixed fibers, it is necessary to establish the lowest temperature of ironing (for example, if the product consists of elastane and cotton, it should be ironed at a temperature suitable for elastin « • »).
  • If you can't determine the composition of tissue, then look for a product space that is not noticeable when wearing, and empirically select the temperature of ironing (always start with the lowest temperature and gradually increase it until you get the desired result).
  • Corduroy and other tissues, which rapidly begin to be glossy, should be strictly be ironed in one direction (in the direction with the nap) with a slight pressure.
  • In order to avoid shiny patches on synthetic and silk fabrics, irone them from the inside.

Setting the ironing temperature

  • Put the iron on the base (8).
    – Plug the power cord into an outlet.
Turn the regulator(9), set the desired temperature of ironing: «•», «• •», «• • •» or «MAX», depending on tissue type, when that

ENGLISH

will be done, indicator will light (6).

- When the soleplate (13) warms up to the chosen temperature and the indicator (6) goes off, you can start ironing.

Note:

- When you turn on the iron for the first time, the heating element of the iron burns, so you may receive a small amount of smoke or a extraneous smell, that is normal.

Water spray

  • You can moisten the cloth, pressing several times to spray button (5) (Fig. 2).
  • Make sure that the tank (10) has enough water.

Dry ironing

  • Put the iron on the base (8).
    – Plug the power cord into an outlet.

  • After use, set the iron temperature controller (9) to position «MIN».
  • Remove the plug from the wall outlet and wait until iron get cool iron.

Steam ironing

Iron is equipped with a drip valve that shuts off the water supply at very low temperature of the soleplate, it prevents the droplets from the openings of the soleplate (13). When the soleplate be heating and cooling, you will hear a distinctive clicking of opening / closing of stop valve, which indicates its normal operation.

  • Put the iron on the base (8).
    – Plug the power cord into an outlet.
  • Make sure that the tank (10) enough water.
  • Turn the regulator(9) set the desired temperature of ironing: in the work of area with «MAX» steam the indicator lights (6).
  • When the soleplate (13) is heated to the desired temperature, the indicator (6) goes off, you can start ironing.

  • With the steam regulators (4) set the required intensity of evaporation, steam will come out of the hole soleplate (13) (Fig. 4).

  • After the use, set the iron temperature controller (9) to position «MIN», and the constant control of steam (4) to «(steam off).
  • Remove the plug from the wall outlet and wait until iron became cool.

WARNING!

If during operation there is no constant supply of steam, make sure that the position of the regulator of the steam is correct(4) and make sure you have water in the tank.

Additional steam supply

Additional function of steam is useful for ironing of wrinkles and can only be used with high temperature ironing (temperature controller (9) in «MAX» position).

When you press the steam button (3) intense steam will come out of the soleplate.

Note:

- To avoid leakage of water from the steam holes, press the button of additional steam (3) with an interval of 4-5 seconds.
