ATENTION
- Read these instructions carefully before using this iron.
- Do not connect it until you have verified that the iron's voltage coincides with the voltage used in your house.
- Verify that the plug socket is equipped with a suitable ground connection.
- Take care that the power cord does not touch hot parts of the iron.
- If ironing with steam, you can use tap water, unless its scale content is too high. In this case it is best to use mineral water. Do not use ionised battery water, distilled water or demineralised water.
- To fill the iron or top it up while ironing, switch the iron off and use the beaker that comes with it for this purpose.
- Do not worry if the iron gives off a little smoke when used for the first time. This will go away quickly.
- Never leave the hot iron on garments or materials that can burn easily.
- Do not discharge steam in the 'vertical' position onto a garment hanging in the wardrobe or on a person. Vertical ironing should be done with the garment on a hanger and away from other garments, items or people.
- Always iron on a stable surface.
- Keep the iron in the upright position when you are not actually ironing, and stand it on its heel when you put it away.
- Check the voltage of the mains and turn the voltage selector Fig. 1 (5) to the correct position with the help of a tool.
- When you finish ironing, always empty the water from the tank. If you want to drain it while ironing, always unplug the appliance from the mains first.
- To disconnect the iron, never pull on the power cord, take out the plug.
-
In the event of a fault, being dropped, visible damage to the casing or water leaking from inside the iron, do not continue ironing with it. Go to a Solac Authorized Technical Service shop. You will find one in the attached list.
-
If the power lead is damaged, it should be replaced by the manufacturer or by your after-sales service shop or similar qualified personnel to prevent possible hazards.
- Never place the iron in water.
- Do not leave the appliance unattended when connected. Keep out of reach of children or disabled persons.
- The compact design of this iron makes it an ideal product for use as a travel iron, since it is not designed for regular ironing use.
MAIN COMPONENTS (FIG.1)
- Temperature adjusting control
- Steam selecting control.
- Water filling hole
- Super-steam button
- Voltage selector.
- Pilot light.
- Nonslip stops
TEMPERATURE SELECTION:
Check whether the garment you are going to iron has a label indicating the ironing temperature. We recommend you classify the garments according to their required ironing temperature and begin with the garments that are ironed with the lowest temperature ( ).
- SYNTHETIC FIBRES, minimum temperature ()
- SILK, WOOL, medium temperature ( )
- LINEN, COTTON, high temperature ( )
N.B. Ironing delicate garments at a temperature higher than necessary spoils the fabric and causes burnt residue to stick to the soleplate.
IRONING WITH STEAM:
- With the iron unplugged from the mains, slide the steam control Fig.1 (2) to the closed position Fig. 2.
-
Open the water filler hole Fig.1 (3). Fill the tank with water (no additives) without exceeding the maximum level, using the beaker provided and keeping the iron in the horizontal position Fig. 3. When the tank is full, close the cap.
-
Given the importance of correctly maintaining your iron's steam chamber, we recommend that you follow the instructions below. You have the following options, depending on the hardness of the water in your home. If you do not know the hardness of the water in your home, ask for information from your town council.
| 100% drinkable mineral water | Bottled mineral water. | |
| Very soft water (up to 7° Fr) | X | 100% tap-water |
| Soft water (up to 15° Fr) | X | 50 % bottled mineral water +50 % tap-water |
| Medium water (up to 25° Fr) | X | 75 % bottled mineral water +25 % tap-water |
| Hard water (above 25° Fr) | X | 100 % bottled mineral water |
- If you live in an area that has very soft water, you can fill the tank using 100% drinkable mineral water or tap-water.
- If you live in an area that has soft water, you can fill the tank using 100% drinkable mineral water, or fill 50% with tap-water and the other 50% with bottled mineral water.
- If you live in an area that has medium water, you can fill the tank using 100% drinkable mineral water, or fill 75% with tap-water and the other 25% with bottled mineral water.
- Lastly, if you live in an area that has hard water, fill the tank with bottled mineral water.
- IMPORTANT NOTICE: Battery water and water with additives (such as starch, perfumes, softeners, anti-scale products) are not suitable, since they could reduce the performance of the steam and, in certain cases, leave residue in the steam chamber, which could then dirty the garments when it comes out through the soleplate.
- Plug the iron into the mains. To obtain steam, you must place the temperature selector Fig.1 (1) at level . When the pilot light Fig.1 (6) goes off, indicating that the desired temperature has been reached, place the steam selecting control Fig.1 (2) in the steam position. Fig. 4 2.
SUPERSTEAM:
- If you want more steam while ironing, press the buttons Fig. 1 (4) two or three times and point the super steam at the desired area of the garment; then pass the soleplate of the iron over the area to dry it.
- We recommend pressing the control at 5-second intervals.
VERTICAL IRONING:
- It enables you to remove wrinkles from delicate garments without having to put them on the ironing board: jackets, overcoats, curtains, etc.
- Place the garment on a hanger, well away from other garments, people, and so on.
- Set the steam control Fig.1 (2) to the closed position and the temperature selector Fig.1 (1) to level .
- Bring the iron up to the garment in the vertical position and press the SUPER STEAM controls Fig.1 (4) at 5-second intervals.
DRY IRONING:
- If there is any water in the tank, turn the steam control Fig.1 (2) to the CLOSED position Fig. 2, to prevent water from coming out.
- Plug in the iron and set the temperature selector Fig.1 (1) to the desired position. The pilot light Fig.1 (7) will go off when that temperature is reached.
STORAGE AND CLEANING:
- Unplug the iron and empty the water from the tank
- We recommend cleaning the soleplate or removing residue stuck to it with a piece of wet cotton wool or non-abrasive products.
TIPS FOR DISPOSING OF THE USED APPLIANCE:
Prior to the disposal of your used appliance, you must make sure that it is clearly non-functional, and that it is disposed of in accordance with the national laws in force. Ask your Distributor, Town Council or Local Authority for detailed information in this respect.
GUARANTEE CONDITIONS:
Solac is not liable for the failures of your appliance in the case of breach of the specifications of the Guarantee Conditions or if the operation and maintenance instructions, which have been included in the instructions brochure for each appliance, are not properly followed.
