Elektronisk personvekt med 4 stk AAA batterier

Before the personal scale is taken into use for the first time, please read this instruction manual thoroughly and keep it for future use.

Please note that all electronic equipment are sensitive, including electronic scales. This means that various conditions may influence weighing, e.g. temperature swings and moving the around. Inaccuracies may occur if the scale is cold. The scale consequently functions most accurately at normal room temperature. It is important that the scale is allowed to ‘acclimatize’ for 24 hours before it is used for the first time. Electronic noise from other units such as mobile phones, small transmitters, and certain microwave ovens may influence weighing.

The scale has a maximum tolerance of approximately 1%, i.e. if a person weighs 70 kg the displayed weight may fall between 60.3 and 70.7. E.g. if you weigh 70.75 kg, the scale will read either 70.7 or 70.8 kg (with 1% tolerance). If you need to know your weight with 100% exactness you should use a professional scale.

If you want to control weight, body fat, body water and muscle mass for a longer period you should weigh under the same circumstances each time. It's to recommend that you weigh in the morning, earliest 1/2 an hour after waken up. If you have been eating, drinking or exercised before weighing this may lead to misleading result since the fluid in your body will affect the estimation of both weight, body fat, body fluid and muscle mass.

OBH Nordica Body Light

A regular scale measures your total weight. With OBH Nordica Body Light it is possible to get your weight and estimate your body fat, body fluid and muscle mass. To estimate the different values, Body Light use a method called Bio-electric Impedance analysis BIA. A small and completely harmless bio-electric impulse is transferred through your body. When this impulse goes through your muscles and body fat with high speed the micro processor analyses the speed of the signal. Your age, gender, length and weight is also considered when Body Light estimates the body structure.

Body fat - what is that?

The body consists of fat (fat cells), muscle mass (blood, muscles, skeleton etc) and fluid. A small amount of fat is extremely important for the body to function normally and helps to protect the body from deceases, coldness etc but at the same time it's not healthy to be too stout. To avoid a lane of complications, you should avoid to get overweight since a high fat percentage increases the risk of heart deceases, diabetes, high blood pressure etc. Regular exercise and healthy food helps to maintain muscle mass and increase the body fat.

Why control fat percentage, water percentage and muscle mass?

To increase your weight and build muscles you should check that the exercise and diet gives result. If you follow an extreme diet you may loose more muscles and fluid than fat. By using this scale for daily weighing you get the result right away and you can easily follow up your diet and exercise. For best result you should wait three hours after meals or exercise and keep an steady intake of fluid.

The body fat ratio for different ages and gender.

Age Female Male

18-39 21-32% 8-19%

40-59 23-33% 11-21%

60-69 24-35% 13-24%

Note! Depending on physique, lower and higher rate can also be acceptable.

Above table are simply general guidelines. For a more exact estimation, contact your doctor.

Note that the fat percentage does not change as fast as weight but changes over a longer time. You can therefore not expect great changes from one weighing to another. The state between fat and muscles changes slowly.

Body fluid percentage

According to World health Organization (WHO 2001) you should have a body fluid percentage within the following terms:

Female: 50-55%

Male: 60-65%

Note! Depending on physique lower and higher rate can also be acceptable.

The body of an adult contains of about 60% body fluid. The range may vary for a number of reasons for example; elderly has a lower proportion of body fluid than younger, male has a higher proportion of fluid than female etc. The majority of body fluid is to be found in the fat free mass which leads to that the body fluid automatically decreases with increasing proportion of fat.

Muscle percentage

No exact guidelines are available for muscle percentage. Note that the muscles consists of fluid, this fluid will be included when estimating both muscle percentage as well as body fluid percentage.

How to input personal information

Remove the plastic stripe from the battery lid. Set the scale for kg, st or lb by pressing the round button located under the scale with the same marking.

Body Light can be programmed for 4 users. The scale should be programmed if you should use it for estimation of fat percentage, body fluid percentage and muscle percentage. The data will be memorized until it's amended manually.

Note:

- Never skip a setting.

- It's important that you use your own setting each time you use the scale to be able to follow your own progress.

Limitations

Note that the electronic scale is based on a number of complicated measurements and preprogrammed data that represents normal- and middle group of persons, which makes the scale usable for most of the population. Body Light can be used by everyone for normal weighing but for estimation of fat-, fluid and muscle percentage the exactness of the result may vary for the following persons and the result may be misleading for exceptional groups of people.

  • Persons on medication.
  • Persons with severe over- or underweight.

  • Persons over 69 years or under 18.

  • Pregnant women since you can't isolate the child's weight. Pregnant women can use the scale for weighing since the bio-electrical impulse is completely harmless even for the unborn child.
  • If you have swollen legs or large amount of body fluid, the result can be misleading. The same if you have fever or suffer from diabetes. Hard skin under your feet can also result in misleading result. In all these cases you can always use the scale as a regular scale for weighing.

Note! OBH Nordica Body Light can not be used by persons with pacemaker.

  1. The three buttons for programming the scale are positioned at the upper edge of the scale. Start by pressing "SET". The number for user blinks in the display. Choose a number by pressing UP or DOWN button and confirm with SET.

Choose symbol with the UP and DOWN buttons and confirm with SET. Male/athlete/female athlete should be used if you exercise intensely daily or has a physical job.
  2. The numbers for length blinks in the display. Set you own length with the UP and DOWN buttons and confirm with SET.

165 cm I_k

  1. Age can now be set by the UP and DOWN buttons. Confirm with set.

All data for the first user are now memorized. If you should program more users you just press SET and the scale is ready for programming next user. If no more users should be programmed the scale will automatically switch off after a few seconds. Note that if you wait too long before pressing any button the scale will shut off and you have to start over. If you would like to change any setting, just repeat the procedure according to above and the latest settings will be erased.

Use

It is important to stand completely still during weighing as even the slightest body movements may cause considerable deviations from the actual weight. Also keep in mind that the scale is influenced by the clothes you wear, if you wear shoes, if you have just finished a meal, etc. If you wish to keep an eye on your weight over a longer period of time, weighing should be performed under comparable conditions every day, preferably without clothes and without moving the scale around between weighings. Don't step on the scale with wet feet. IMPORTANT! The scale is not for professional use.

  1. Place the scale on a plain, hard surface. Activate the scale by stepping on it so that the display lights, step off the scale and let the display shut off. Stand on the scale again (stand with your feet in the same position each time). Your weight should be equally distributed between both feet and with equal weight on the heel and toes. Remember to stand completely still! The weight can be read from the display after a few seconds. If the weighing is incorrect the display will show “----”, try again.

  2. After that rotating "0" will show which indicates that the scale is estimating. If you haven't programmed the scale, the number for user will start to blink as a sign to program the scale if you want to estimate fat- fluid- and muscle percentage.

Activate the scale correctly according to previous instructions before stepping on the scale and repeat the weighing.

Max capacity 150 kg has been exceeded

The max capacity must not bee exceeded.
