INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Special safety instructions
The machine is supplied with no oil in the engine. Remember to fill with engine oil before use!
The garden shredder runs on unleaded petrol. You should therefore never put leaded petrol, diesel or other fuels in the tank.
Wipe off any spilt petrol with a dry rag after filling with petrol.
Smoking and use of naked flames during fuelling should be avoided.
Never fill up with petrol or engine oil while the shredder is running.
Do not overfill with petrol or oil, as this may cause a fire risk.
Store flammable materials at a safe distance from the shredder, as exhaust gases are very hot and may ignite such materials.
Never start the machine indoors, e.g. in a garage or shed. Exhaust gases contain carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons that are highly dangerous to humans and animals if inhaled.
Never start the shredder without the air filter in place.
Avoid touching engine components during or immediately after use. They may be very hot.
Never insert hands, feet or tools into the hopper, feed chute or discharge chute, and do not peer into the openings while the shredder is in use.
Always stop the engine and remove the spark plug cover before making adjustments, and before placing hands, feet or other objects near moving parts.
Never direct the discharge chute at people, animals, cars or buildings.
Never use the garden shredder on a sloping or hard, slippery surface, as the vibrations could cause the shredder to travel.
Wear eye protection, ear protectors and gloves when using the shredder.
Never use metal implements to feed branches and
twigs into the shredder. Use wooden implements instead.
Never place tools or other objects on top of the shredder.
Make sure that no foreign objects of metal, stone or glass, etc. get into the shredder.
Assembly
Get another person to help with assembling the garden shredder.
Use a clean and flat surface for this.
Remove the components from the packaging.
Lift the actual machine up onto a stable wooden box.

Fitting the foot and discharge chute
Remove the nuts from the bolts at (a) and (b) as shown in the illustration.
Remove the washers, bolts and spacers.
Pull the shredder slightly forward on the wooden box, so that the screw at (c) is accessible.
Tilt the discharge chute (d) down until the holes at (a) and (b) line up.
Position the foot (e) so that the holes line up with the holes at (a) and (b).
Replace the spacers in the holes.
Replace the bolts and washers and tighten the nuts.

Fitting the foot and discharge chute
Attaching the wheels
Slide the wheels and wheel brackets onto the axle. Remove the nut, washer, bolt and spacer at (g).
Support the shredder, and remove the wooden box. Please note that the shredder is heavy.
Hold the wheel brackets so the holes in them line up with the holes at (f) and (g).
Insert a bolt (M8×20) into the hole at (f), and tighten it gently with a nut on the inside of the shredder.
Insert the spacer through the hole at (g) again, and then guide the bolt through. Secure the bolt using the washer and nut.
Tighten the bolt at (f).
It is now safe to let go of the shredder.

INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Fitting the feed chute
Hold the feed chute (i) so that the holes at (j) line up with the holes at (h).
Secure the feed chute provisionally using washers and M8 nuts.
Push the feed chute firmly in against the side of the garden shredder and tighten the nuts.

Fitting the feed chute
Fitting the grille by the discharge chute
Remove the wing screws (3) by the screen (1), and tip the screen right up.
Fix the grille to the screen shaft and secure it using a spring.
Position the bottom section of the grille so it rests in front of the shaft at the opening of the discharge chute. Fix the grille using M5×15-bolts on both sides of the opening.
Fitting the transport handle
Line the transport handles up with the holes in the hopper, and hold in place.
Secure the handles firmly in place with screws.
Adjusting the screen by the discharge pipe
Loosen the finger screws (3), and adjust the screen (1) to the required angle. Tighten the finger screws again. The steeper the angle, the further the discharge.
Preparation for use
Remove the oil filler cap (20). Check the oil level using the dipstick on the underside of the cap and top up if necessary. Replace filler cap.
Remove the fuel cap (12) and check the petrol level.
Top up with petrol if the level is too low. Replace the cap.
Remove the wing nut on the top of the air filter (14), remove the air filter and check that the filter element is clean. Clean the filter element, if necessary, and replace.
Starting the engine
Set the on/off switch (10) to the „On“ position. Set throttle handle (15) to maximum.
If starting from cold, push the choke lever (16) across to the petrol symbol to increase mix richness.
Gently pull the recoil starter (17) until you feel resistance, and then pull it fully out hard to start the engine. Note! Do not allow the cord to recoil freely as this may cause damage to the machine.
Allow the engine to warm up and then push the choke lever back, several times if necessary. Check that the engine is running smoothly. Engine speed can be adjusted using the throttle lever.
Do not strain the engine the first few times it is used.
INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Shredding
Start the engine and allow it to warm up.
Twigs, hedge waste, plants and other clippings with relatively thin stems can go into the hopper (9) and be shredded.
Use a wooden stick or similar, if necessary, to push the material down to the knives.
Remove the shredded material frequently from the discharge chute using a shovel.
If the shredded material is to be used for composting, it can go through the shredder several times to reduce it further.
Remember that the discharge chute may become blocked if the material is damp or contains a lot of sap.
Chipping
Start the engine and allow it to warm up.
Branches and stems up to 76 mm in diameter can be chipped in the shredder. Insert items into the feed chute (6) through the feed nozzle (7). Do not use force, just allow the shredder to work its way through the item. The thicker the item, the longer it will take to chip it.
Do not try to chip items that will not easily fit through the feed nozzle opening.
Stopping the engine
Reduce the engine speed to minimum using the throttle lever. Then close the throttle and set the on/off switch to "Stop".
Sharpening the knives
If the garden shredder begins to sound laboured or to run more slowly, or if the V-belt slips even though it is sufficiently taut, check whether the knives have become blunt.
Check that the engine is stopped and that the spark plug cover (19) has been removed from the spark plug and secured, so there is no danger of contact with the spark plug.
Remove the cover from the knives.
Remove the grille in front of the discharge chute.
Turn the knife shaft to a suitable position. Wear gloves!
Remove the fixing screw from the pair of knives and remove them.
Sharpen the knives at an angle of 40-45 degrees.
Do not apply too much pressure during sharpening (discolouration or tempering are signs of this).

The knives should be sharpened equally. If the knives do not weigh the same, this will result in increased vibration and greater wear and tear on the shredder during use.
Refit the knives and other parts in reverse order.
INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Adjusting the V-belt
Check that the engine is stopped and that the spark plug cover (19) has been removed from the spark plug and secured, so there is no danger of contact with the spark plug.
Remove the cover from the V-belt.
Undo the four nuts holding the engine in place.
Pull the engine forward until the V-belt is sufficiently taut.
Tighten the four nuts holding the engine in place.
Replace the cover over the V-belt.
If the V-belt is split, rotted or worn, replace it with a new belt of the same type. Note that the old belt will generally be slightly longer than the new one due to wear and tear.
Pull the belt to one side and rotate the drive wheel slowly until the belt comes off. Take care not to get fingers trapped.
Position the new V-belt on the drive wheel by the engine first, and then on the wheel by the knife shaft.
Storage
When the garden shredder is to be stored for long periods without use, do as follows:
- Drain and clean the fuel tank
- Drain the engine oil
- Wipe off the engine exterior with a soft cloth
- Clean the shredder and cover all metal surfaces with a light film of oil.
Store the shredder in a clean, dry, well-ventilated place.
Troubleshooting
If the engine will not start, or is difficult to start:
- Check the oil and petrol levels
- Check for leaks in the fuel and oil systems
- Check the spark plug and clean if necessary using a wire brush.
If the engine will still not run properly, take the shredder to an authorised workshop for repair.
