How do I clean the grill plates?

Allow the grill to cool completely. Remove the plates and wash them with warm soapy water or place them in the dishwasher. Wipe the main unit with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

Can I use the grill with the lid closed?

Yes, the Zelmer 40Z012 is designed for both open grilling and closed cooking. When closed, it works like a contact grill for even cooking on both sides.

How long does it take to preheat?

Preheating typically takes about 5-7 minutes. The indicator light will turn green or off when the set temperature is reached.

What is the maximum temperature?

Congratulations on your choice of our appliance, and welcome among the users of Zelmer products.

In order to achieve best possible results we recommend using exclusively original Zelmer accessories. They have been specially designed for this product.

Please read these instructions carefully. Pay your special attention to important safety instructions, in order to prevent accidents and/or avoid damaging the appliance. Keep this "Instructions for use" for future reference.

The appliance is intended for household use, indoors only. The heating surface is coated with special non-stick layer, therefore do not use sharp utensils for turning grilled products.

Use only soft wooden spatula.

Safety and proper use instructions

Connect the appliance to AC mains supply 230 V with grounding. You may use an extension cord (3 conductors) conducting current intensity min. 10 A.

The supplying cord and extension cord can not be in touch with water or other liquids.

Do not unplug pulling by the cord.

Do not start up the appliance, In case the supplying cord or housing, thermostat and grids are visibly damaged. Make a visual inspection before each start-up.

- Use the appliance with original thermostat only – with supplying cord and accessories.

If the non-detachable part of the cord is damaged, it should be replaced by the producer or at a proper service point or by a qualified person in order to avoid any hazards.

The appliance should be repaired by trained staff only. Improper repair can result in serious hazard for a user. In case of defects we recommend you to contact qualified service desk.

order to provide additional protection, it is recommended to install the residual current device (RCD) with nominal residual power not exceeding 30 mA. You should contact the professional electrician in this concern.

Keep the proper space over and around the grill to provide an easy air flow. Do not let the appliance touch curtains, wall-paper, cloths, towels or other combustible materials during operation. Do not use under cupboards or curtains. Be careful in case of surface sensitive for heat – thermo isolating pad is recommended.

Place the appliance only at dry, flat, firm and heat-resistant surface.

Do not place the appliance on or near open fire, hot burner or heated oven.

ATTENTION: It is not allowed to use charcoal or similar combustive materials.

Before usage make sure that grease drip tray and grill are properly assembled on the base.

The appliance is intended solely for household use, indoors.

Apply the recommended temperature setting. You can adjust the temperature during grilling if necessary.

Do not use aggressive detergents like cream, milk, paste etc. to clean the casing. They can remove graphic symbols such as: scales, marking, caution signs, etc.

Always disassemble thermostat before immersing in water to avoid electric shock.

Do not wash the parts in dishwasher.

Do not immerse temperature sensor, supplying cord or plug neither in water nor in any other liquid.

Dry thoroughly after cleaning. Make sure the appliance is completely dry before thermostat assembling.

Assembling (Fig. B)

ATTENTION: Remove all stickers before first usage and clean the appliance thoroughly (see: „Cleaning and maintenance”).

Make sure hat the heating plate socket and thermostat plug are dry.

① Install the grease drip tray (2) at the base (1). Always put aluminium foil inside the grease drip tray to make cleaning easier.
② Assemble the heating plate (3) at the base.
③ Apply a small amount of oil on the heating plate before usage and distribute it with paper towel.
④ Assemble shield (6) if it's necessary. In order to do it, insert the protrusions of heating plate in the shield inlets.

ATTENTION: It is recommended to use shield when grilling products containing fat.

⑤ Insert the thermostat with supplying cord (7) in the appliance socket. Make sure that the thermostat knob is in "OFF" position.
⑥ Connect the supplying cord to the mains supply outlet.

Start-up

Set the thermostat (7) for desired temperature ("I" to "V").

"I" = the lowest temperature.

“V” = the highest temperature.

During warming up the pilot light (8) glows. When the appliance reaches the set temperature, the light goes off and the heater shall switch off. The grill heat up from time to time, in order to keep the set temperature.

During first usage, the preserving materials shall be burnt which can cause short emission of unpleasant smell at the initial stage of grilling.

ATTENTION: It is not allowed to move the hot appliance during operation! At first switch off and wait until it cools down. Move with heat-resistant handles only.

Operation guidelines

is recommended to wipe the surface with edible oil before grilling products in order to improve the non-sticking properties.
The grids (4) are perfect for preparing meat, fish and poultry. The fat and juice flows though the grids spaces down to the grease drip tray which provides preparation of healthy and low-fat meals.
The grilling plate (5) is perfect for preparing eggs, ham, tomatoes, onion, etc. It is also excellent for keeping the dishes warm.
The 3–4 level is recommended In order to obtain uniform grilling.
Eat the grids before putting the products on.
When preparing tender dishes (i.e. fish) after applying spices you can wrap it with aluminium foil.
Soft pieces of meat are the best for grilling.
you can marinate meat in advance, to make it more tender.
Use special tongs or spatula for turning products on grill, it is not allowed to use pointer forks.
Do not turn the grilled products to often. In case they get brown on both sides, finish grilling at lower temperature. Thanks to it the products shall not get dry and they shall be uniformly grilled.
case the products are not instantly consumed, you can keep them warm with 1 level setting.

It is not allowed to cut the products on the grill, in order to prevent the damages of non- stick layer.

After operation

Set the thermostat in "OFF" position in order to switch off the appliance.
always disconnect form mains after usage. Let the appliance cool down before disassembling and cleaning.

Cleaning and maintenance

Wash and wipe thoroughly all parts before storage.

Make sure that the plug and heating plate are dry before connecting the thermostat to the heating plate. If necessary, wipe thoroughly with dry cloth and leave for drying for a while.

Thermostat

On no account allow the water get inside the thermostat! Do not clean under running water and do not immerse! Clean the thermostat with damp cloth only.

Heating plate

is forbidden to use caustic cleaning agents, scourers with scouring agents, wire wool, etc., as they can damage non-stick surface.

Remove severe dirt with damp cloth. Use a soft bottle brush for cleaning the grids.

Base, grease drip tray

- clean the base and grease drip tray with damp cloth or under running water.

The appliance is not intended for being washed in dishwashers!

Ecology – Environment protection

Each user can protect the natural environment. It is neither difficult nor expensive.

In order to do it: put the cardboard packing into recycling paper container; put the polyethylene (PE) bags into container for plastic.

When worn out, dispose the appliance to particular disposal centre, because of the dangerous elements of this appliance, which can be hazardous for natural environment.

Do not dispose into the domestic waste disposal!!!
