Frequently Asked Questions - VT-1559 W Vitek

How much water should I put in the steamer?
Fill the water tank to the MAX line (about 1.2 liters) for most cooking. For shorter cooking times, less water is needed.
Can I steam different foods at the same time?
Yes, you can use multiple tiers. Place foods that take longer to cook on the lower tier. Make sure to arrange them so steam can circulate.
How do I clean the steamer?
Remove the tiers and wash them in warm soapy water or the dishwasher. Wipe the base with a damp cloth. Descale the heating element regularly using a vinegar solution.
What does the auto shut-off feature do?
The steamer turns off automatically when the water runs out to prevent damage. The indicator light will go off. Allow it to cool before refilling.
Can I use the steamer to reheat food?
Yes, it's great for reheating leftovers like rice, vegetables, and dumplings without drying them out. Steam for 5-10 minutes.
Is the steamer suitable for all types of food?
It is ideal for vegetables, fish, poultry, rice, and eggs. Avoid dense foods like large roasts as they may not cook evenly.
How long does it take to steam vegetables?
Depending on the vegetable, it takes about 8-15 minutes. Broccoli and carrots take 10-12 minutes; harder vegetables like potatoes may need 20-30 minutes.
Can I open the lid during cooking?
Yes, but be careful of hot steam. Opening will release steam and may increase cooking time. Use oven mitts to remove the lid.
What should I do if the steamer stops working?
Check if it is plugged in and the timer is set. If the water tank is empty, the auto shut-off may have activated. Allow to cool, refill, and restart.
Where can I find spare parts?
