Area of application
This hand-held circular saw can only be used for manual operation. With its circular saw blade, included in the supply, it is suitable for straight cuts in wood and wooden materials in accordance with the data specified in these Operating Instructions. With appropriate circular saw blades (observe the producer's data!), the appliance can also be used for the following materials: plastic materials, thermoplastic materials, duroplastic materials, laminates, solid foam boards, plasterboards, mineral wool boards, chipboards bound together with cement, aeroconcrete and non-ferrous metals. Any other application is explicitly excluded.
General safety instructions for electric tool handling
CAUTION!
For protection against electric shock, avoiding a risk of injury and fire it is necessary to observe these basic safety measures when using the electric tool. Please read carefully these instructions before using the electric tool and follow them. Keep the safety instructions for future reference.
- Safe working
Keep the workplace clean.
Mess in the workplace can lead to injuries. - Take into account the ambient influences.
Do not expose your electric tool to rain. Do not use the electric tool in a moist or wet environment. Ensure corresponding lighting. Do not use the electric tool near flammable liquids or gases. - Keep the tool out of reach of children.
Do not let other persons touch the electric tool or cable. Keep other persons off the workplace.
- Keep you electric tool in safe conditions.
Electric tools that are not used must be kept in a dry, elevated and locked place and out of reach of children.
- Do not overload your electric tool.
Your work will be more pleasant and safer if you observe the specified power range.
- Use corresponding electric tools.
Do not use appliances with poor performance for hard labour. Do not use the tool for purposes for which it has not been designated.
Use the electric tool only for purposes described in the Operating Instructions.
- Wear appropriate working clothes!
Do not wear loose clothes or jewellery as they can get caught by rotating parts. Wearing rubber gloves and non-slip shoes is recommended in open air. Wear a hairnet if you have long hair.
- Wear protective glasses.
Use a breathing mask for dusty work.
- Do not use the cable for purposes for which it has not been designated.
Never wear the electric tool with its cable. Do not use the cable to pull the plug out of socket. Protect the cable against excess temperatures, oil and sharp edges.
- Secure the workpiece.
Use clamping devices or a vice to hold the workpiece. They hold it safer than your hands do and, moreover, both of your hands are free to operate the electric tool.
- Avoid abnormal body posture.
Assume a safe posture and keep constant balance.
- Treat your tool with care.
Keep the tool sharp and clean so that it is possible to work with it better and safer. Follow the maintenance regulations and appliance replacement instructions. Check regularly the cable of your electric tool and have it replaced by an authorised professional if damaged. Check regularly the extension cables and replace them if damaged. Keep the handles dry and with no oil and fat.
- Pull the plug out of socket.
If you do not use the electric tool or before maintenance and at replacement of e.g. circular saw blades, drills, etc.
- Do not leave any adjusting instruments in the appliance.
Before switching the appliance on, check whether you have removed all wrenches and adjusting instruments.
- Prevent starting with no attendance.
Do not carry the electric tool plugged in with your thumb on the switch. Make sure the switch is off when plugging into the socket.
- Extension cables in open air.
In open air, use only extension cables approved and adequately marked for that purpose.
Be careful.
Pay attention to what you are doing. Work reasonably. Do not use the electric tool when not concentrated.
- Check the electric tool for any damage.
Before using the electric tool again, you need to carefully check the perfect and specified working of the guard devices or slightly damaged parts. Check whether the rotating parts work faultlessly and do not drag behind or whether any parts are not damaged. All parts must be installed properly and satisfy all conditions to ensure faultless operation of your electric tool. Any guard devices and parts that are damaged must be duly repaired or replaced by an authorised specialised shop unless provided otherwise in the Operating Instructions. Have any damaged switches replaced by a customer service shop. Do not use electric tools at which the switch cannot be turned on and off.
CAUTION
- Use only accessories or extensions specified in the Operating Instructions. Using any other extensions and accessories can represent a risk of injury.
- This saw corresponds to appropriate safety provisions. Repairs can only be executed by a professional electrician and only original spare parts must be used, failing which there might be injuries of the operator.
Safety instructions specific for this appliance
Do not touch the cutting area and circular saw blade with your hands. Hold the auxiliary handle or engine case by the other hand. If both hands hold the saw, the circular saw blade cannot injure them.
Do not touch under the workpiece. The protection cover is unable to protect you against the circular saw blade under the workpiece.
Adjust the cutting depth to the workpiece thickness. Less than one full tooth height must be seen under the workpiece.
Never hold the cut workpiece in your hand or above the leg. Secure the workpiece in stable fixture. It is important that the workpiece is fixed well so as to minimise the risk of body contact, circular saw blade jamming or loss of control.
Grab the saw only on insulated working surfaces if you carry out works at which the extension or proper feeder cable can become conductive. Metal parts of the saw also become conductive by getting in touch with the conductive line, which leads to electric shock.
Always use a stop or straight edge guiding for longitudinal cutting. This improves the cut accuracy and reduces the possibility of circular saw blade getting jammed.
Always use circular saw blades with correct size and an appropriate hole for clamping (e.g. star or round). Circular saw blades not appropriate for assembly parts of the saw experience radial run-out and lead to loss of control.
Never use any damaged or poor washers or screws of the circular saw blade. Washers and screws of the circular saw blade have been designed specially for your saw, optimum performance and operational safety.
Causes of backlash and protection against it:
Backlash is a sudden response as a result of seized, jammed or poorly balanced circular saw blade that causes the saw to go up uncontrolled and then moves off the workpiece towards the operator.
When the circular saw blade gets seized or jammed in a closed cutting gap, the engine power hits the saw back towards the operator.
If the circular saw blade is revolved or poorly balanced in the saw cut, teeth of the back edge of the circular saw blade might get jammed in the workpiece surface, which results in the circular saw blade going up from the cutting gap and saw bouncing back towards the operator. The backlash is a result of wrong or faulty use of the saw. It can be prevented by the appropriate safety measures described below.
Hold the saw firmly with both hands, placing them to a position in which you are able to absorb the backlash force. Always stand from the side of the circular saw blade; never put the circular saw blade to the same level with your body. With backlash, the saw might bounce back but the operator can cope with the backlash force by appropriate safety measures.
If the circular saw blade gets jammed or you interrupt the work then switch the saw off and hold it easily in the workpiece until the circular saw blades stops. Never try to take the saw away from the workpiece or pull it back if the circular saw blade is turning, failing which you will face a risk of backlash. Find out and remove the cause of the circular saw blade getting jammed.
If you want the saw jammed in the workpiece to start again, centre the circular saw blade in the cutting gap and check whether the saw teeth are not seized in the workpiece. In case the circular saw blade is jammed, it can move outwards off the workpiece or cause backlash if you want to start the saw again.
Support large boards to reduce the backlash risk as a result of the circular saw blade being jammed. Large boards might bend under its weight. Boards must be supported on both sides, both near the cutting gap and on the edge.
Do not use circular saw blades that are blunt or damaged. Circular saw blades with blunt or poorly balanced teeth lead to increased friction, jamming of the circular saw blade and backlash due to too narrow cutting gap.
Fix the set cut depth and cut angle before you start cutting. If setting changes during the cutting process, the circular saw blade can get jammed and cause backlash.
Be especially careful at "inside cuts" to existing walls or other sections that cannot be seen. A circular saw blade getting inside can get blocked and cause backlash when cutting into hidden objects.
Before using the appliance you should check whether the bottom protection cover closes properly. Do not use the saw if the bottom protection cover does not move freely and does not close immediately. Never fix the bottom protection cover in an open position. If the saw falls on the floor in an uncontrolled manner, the bottom protection cover can get bent. Open the protection cover with a return lever and make sure it moves freely and touches neither the circular saw blade nor other parts at any angle.
Check the function of springs for the bottom protection cover. If the bottom protection cover and springs do not work perfectly, have a maintenance check of the saw before using it. Parts that are damaged, sticky deposits or splinter clusters slow the working of the bottom protection cover.
Open the bottom protection cover with your hand only for special cuts like for example the "inside and angular cuts". Open the bottom protection cover with a return lever and keep it open until the circular saw blade gets inside the workpiece. The bottom protection cover must work automatically for other cutting processes.
Do not put the saw on a work table or ground without the bottom protection cover covering the circular saw blade. A circular saw blade that is unprotected and coasting moves the saw against the cutting direction and cuts everything it can. Observe the saw coasting time.
Do not touch the splinter ejection hole with your hands. You can get injured by the rotating parts.
Do not work with the saw above your head. You do not have sufficient control of the saw in this position.
Use appropriate detectors for searching for hidden power lines or contact your local electrical energy supplier. Any contact with the power line can cause fire and electric shock. Damage to the gas line can lead to explosion. Breaking into the water pipeline can lead to damage or electric shock.
Do not work with the saw on the spot. The saw has not been designed for operation with the saw table.
Do not use circular saw blades out of HSS (high alloy steel for quick cuts). These circular saw blades can easily break.
Do not cut ferrous metals. Hot splinters can cause the dust catcher to ignite.
Hold the saw with both hands and secure a safe posture when working. The saw is guided safer with both hands.
Secure the workpiece. A workpiece caught in clamping devices or a vice is held safer than with your hand.
Do not put the saw aside until it stops. The extension can get jammed and lead to loss of control of the saw.
Do not use the saw if the cable is damaged. Do not touch a damaged cable and pull the plug out of socket if the cable gets damaged during work. A damaged cable increases an electric shock risk.
Behaviour in case of emergency
Provide necessary first aid treatment corresponding to the injury nature and seek qualified medical help as soon as possible.
Protect the injured person from other injuries and calm him/her down.
Work with the hand-held circular saw
- The swivelling protection cover is automatically drawn back from the workpiece.
- Proceed smoothly and uniformly forward with the circular saw.
- Waste must be on the right to the circular saw so that the wide part of the support table could fit with its entire surface.

Handling
Parallel cut

Loosen the stop screw for parallel stop locking.
-
Determine the cut area for 45^ + 90^ (depending on the auxiliary cut for 45^ and 90^ ). Set the parallel stop and scale, ensure corresponding cut width.
Caution!
Perform the test cut on waste wood.
Cutting depth
-
Loosen the stop screw for saw shoe locking.
-
Turn the saw shoe down.
Set the cutting depth using the scale. The tooth prong must protrude from the wood by app. 2 mm.

- Loosen 2 stop screws (8).
- Set the saw shoe to the requested number of grades (0°-45°).
- Tighten the stop screws (8).
Circular saw blade replacement (pic. 1)
- Hold the flange (6) with a flange wrench.
- Loosen the hex-screw (5) with a pin wrench.
- Open and hold the swivelling protection cover (2).
- Take the flange and circular saw blade down.
- Clean the flange and insert a new circular saw blade.
Be sure to know the correct running direction (see the arrow on the protection cover). - Tighten the hex-screw, ensure uniform running.
Switching on
There is safety switch-on with two A/B buttons. The appliance can only be put into operation when the handle is clasped firmly and both buttons are pressed down. After releasing the handle the appliance switches off automatically to prevent unintentional running.
Residual risks and protection measures
Direct electrical contact
A faulty cable or plug can cause life-threatening electric shock.
Always have any faulty cables or plugs replaced by a professional. Use the appliance only with connection with a safety switch against stray current (RCD).
Indirect electrical contact
Injury by conductive parts at exposed electrical or faulty construction elements.
Always pull the plug out of socket for maintenance. Use the appliance only with connection with a safety switch against stray current (RCD).
Inadequate local lighting
Insufficient lighting represents a high safety risk.
Always ensure sufficient lighting when working with the appliance.
Disposal
The disposal instructions are based on icons placed on the appliance or its package. The description of the meanings can be found in the "Marking" chapter.
Transport package disposal
The package protects the appliance against damage during transport. Package materials are usually selected in light of environment friendliness and disposal manner and are therefore recyclable.
Putting the package back to material circulation saves raw materials and reduces waste disposal costs.
Parts of the package (e.g. foils, Styropor) can be dangerous to children. Risk of suffocation!
Keep those parts of the package out of reach of children and dispose them as quickly as possible.
Maintenance instructions
- Keep the appliance, Operating Instructions and any accessories in the original package. By this, you will always have all the information and parts at your disposal.
- GÜDE appliances are absolutely maintenance-free; just a wet cloth is enough for cleaning the surface. Never plunge the electric tool into water. Supplementary instructions can be found in the Operating Instructions.
- GÜDE appliances are subject to a strict quality control; if, however, despite this, any function shows any fault, please send the appliance to our servicing address. The appliance will be repaired at once.
- A brief flaw description will shorten the defect search time and repair time. Attach the guarantee list of the appliance and purchase document in the guarantee period.
- If it is not a guarantee repair, the repair costs will be charged to you.
IMPORTANT! The guarantee expires by opening the appliance. - To prevent damage during transport, pack the appliance safely or use an original package.
- We are here for you even after the guarantee period expires – we will repair the GÜDE appliances at a favourable price.

Operating staff requirements
The operator must carefully read the Operating Instructions before using the appliance.
Qualification
No special qualification is necessary for using the appliance apart from detailed instruction by an expert.
Minimum age
The appliance can only be operated by persons over 18 years of age that have been familiarised with its handling and features. Youngsters between 16 and 18 years of age can only work with the appliance under supervision of an adult. An exception includes youngsters operating the appliance in their professional education to achieve necessary skills under trainer's supervision.
Training
Using the appliance requires only corresponding instruction by a professional or reading the Operating Instructions. No special training is necessary.
Transport and storing
- For long-term storing, the appliance must be thoroughly cleaned and kept safely to prevent access to any unauthorised persons.
