How to change the blade of the GWS 400 ECO saw?

Unplug the device. Use the supplied key to loosen the blade locking screw. Remove the flange and the worn blade. Install the new blade respecting the rotation direction. Replace the flange and tighten the screw. Check that the blade rotates freely.

How to adjust the cutting depth?

Loosen the depth adjustment lever located at the back of the machine. Adjust the blade height by turning the knob. Close the lever. Use the graduation for optimal precision.

What are the essential safety instructions?

Always wear protective goggles and gloves. Never remove the safety guard. Use a push stick for small pieces. Make sure the blade is properly tightened before use. Unplug the device when changing accessories.

How to clean the saw after use?

Unplug the saw. Remove sawdust with a brush or vacuum cleaner. Clean the blade with a cloth soaked in alcohol. Lubricate the guides and moving parts with silicone spray.

The saw does not start, what to do?

How to use the parallel guide?

Insert the parallel guide into the slots on the table. Adjust the distance from the blade by loosening the knobs. Tighten them once the desired position is achieved. Use the guide for straight and precise cuts.

How to make an angled cut?

Loosen the table locking lever. Tilt the blade to the desired angle (up to 45°) using the protractor. Close the lever. Use the parallel guide if necessary.

Do not wear loose clothes and jewels as they could be caught by moving parts of the machine.

We recommend using of anti-skid shoes when working outside.

Wear a hairnet if you have long hairs.

Use personal protective equipment!

Always wear goggles.

Obey the maintenance instructions and tools replacement instructions.

Check the machine cable regularly and ask a specialist to replace the same if damaged.

Keep handles dry, without traces of oils and greases.

Unplug the plug from the socket!

Unplug the plug from the socket if you do not use the machine or when e.g. replace the rotary saw.

Do not leave any hand tools in the machine!

Before turning the machine on always check whether all keys and adjustment tools are removed from the machine.

Avoid unintentional turning the machine on!

Make sure the switch is off when plugging the machine in the socket.

Extension cables outdoors:

Use approved outdoor extension cables with corresponding identification only.

Be careful!

Be aware of what you are doing. Work wisely. Do not use the device if you are tired.

Check the machine for damage!

Carefully inspect all safeguards and slightly damaged components for their perfect function before reuse of the machine.

Check whether rotary parts operate freely and not jammed or damaged.

All components must be mounted correctly and comply with all conditions for perfect operation of the machine. Damaged safeguards and parts must be either repaired or replaced by an expert workshop, unless specified otherwise in this operation manual.

Replace damaged switches in a service workshop. Do not use machines that can not be turned on or off with the use of a switch.

WARNING!

Use of their insertion tools and accessories may pose injury hazard.

Only qualified electricians should make repairs of the machine!

This device complies to applicable safety provisions. To avoid personal injury of the user, all repairs must be performed by qualified electricians with the use of genuine spare parts only.

Special safety instructions

- Keep the tools sharp and clean - you will then work safely.

- Work wisely. Do not use the device if you are tired.

- Attention! Moving rotary saw poses danger to injury of your hands and fingers.

- The machine is fitted with the safety switch against repeated turning it on after voltage drop.

- If you need extension cable, make sure its cross-section is sufficient with respect to the saw power input. Minimum cross section is 1.5 mm² ; 2.5 mm² cross-section is required for cables from 20 m long.

- If the cable is wound on a drum, it is necessary to unwind the cable.

- Do not expose the saw to rain and do not use the machine in moist or wet environment.

- Keep your workplace tidy, remove wood waste and cuts around.

- Pay attention to correct motor and the rotary saw revolution direction. Use only the rotary saws of which maximum permitted speed is not lower than maximum speed of the circular saw spindle and the material being cut.

- It is forbidden to brake the rotary saw by side pressure after turning the drive off.

- Mount only properly sharpened rotary saw without cracks and deformations in the cradle saw.

- The cradle has a mechanic brake that starts braking of the rotary saw after the motor is turned off.

- Do not use the rotary saws made from highly alloyed high-speed cutting steel (HSS).

- Use only the rotary saws recommended by the manufacturer.

- Replace defective rotary saws immediately.

- It is forbidden to either demount or bypass the safety devices on the machine.

- Replace worn table fillers.

- When working, stand aside of the rotary saw.

- Do not load the machine so that it stops.

- Make sure that the cut wood pieces are not caught by the toothing of the rotary saw and throwing it away.

- Do never remove chips, saw dust or clogged wood pieces when the rotary saw is running.

• To remove failure or clogged wood piece, turn the machine off and unplug the machine from the socket.
• If the cutting groove is worn, replace the table filler. - Unplug the plug from the socket -.
• Machine setup, e.g. adjustment, measurement and cleaning works must be performed only when the motor is turned off. - Unplug the plug from the socket -.
• Before turning the machine on always check whether all keys and adjustment tools are removed from the machine.
• If you abandon the machine, turn the motor off and unplug the plug from the socket.
• All safeguards and safety devices must be immediately installed after repair or maintenance finishes.
• It is necessary to adhere to safety instructions and instructions of the manufacturer related to operation and maintenance as well as dimensions shown in the Technical Data section.
• It is necessary to comply with relevant directives about prevention of accidents and other generally applicable safety rules.
• Do not cut materials that contain foreign particles, e.g. wires, cables or ropes.
• Use sharp rotary saws only.

Assembly (pictures 1 to 16)

1. Open the accessory equipment package (included) and check the content.

2. Open the package including the support with engine and put it on the ground. Easy installation by inserting 2 M8 x 70 screws in the support with subsequent connection to couplings. The side couplings must be installed outwards on the square engine frame tube.

3. Screw the cradle on the support with engine using 2 M8 x 70 screws.

4. Install the distance chain between the cradle and the support with engine.

5. Screw the front left circular saw blade cover on the cradle using 2 M6 x 15 screws.

6. Now screw the front right circular saw blade cover on the cradle using 3 M6 x 15 screws.

7. Screw the rear circular saw blade cover on the support with engine using 2 M6 x 15 and 1 M6 x 40 screws – make sure the circular saw blade cover surfaces and engine flanges fit perfectly.

8. Fasten the middle part of the circular saw blade cover using the M6 nut.

9. Push the circular saw blade flange to the engine shaft.

10. Push the circular saw blade to the engine shaft. Caution! The circular saw blade is heavy and may be slippery. It may cause serious injuries when it gets out of your hands. Therefore, wear safety gloves and safety shoes at all times.

11. Fit the circular saw blade flange on the engine shaft and tighten the M20 nut using the wrench and holder (included).

12. Close the front circular saw blade cover and screw it down using 3 M6 x 85 screws.

13. Use 4 M4 x 55 screws to screw the switch to the support with engine. The emergency switch must be directed upwards.

14. Screw the handles using 4 M8 x 40 Allen screws (included).

15. Insert the side extensions of the cut material in the cradle and fixate it using the adjusting screw.

16. Set the distance ring to the required length. Check the fully assembled saw once again.

Before commissioning

Commissioning of the machine is strictly prohibited without prior reading of this operation manual and all safety instructions! Contact experts if you are not skilled in working with machines of this type.

• Unpack the saw and check for transport damage.
• This machine is designed for outdoor use only.
• The machine must stand firmly on a balanced and solid surface. Remove all waste from the floor around the machine; the floor must neither have slipping nor tripping hazard points.

- All covers and safeguards must be mounted properly and the rotary wheel must move freely.

- Check the machine and the cables for transport damage.

- Check fixed location, contamination, damaged points and sharpness of the rotary saw. Sharpen or replace blunt rotary saws.

- Check for proper tightening of all screw joints.

- Check the filler with groove (13) wear level and replace, if necessary.

- The feeding cradle (4) must return automatically to its original position.

- Check for clogged foreign objects that could be ejected from the machine.

- Electric power source must be protected by residual current device against 30mA stray current.

- Before connection of the machine please make sure that data on the product type sheet complies with characteristic of your power supply grid.

- Attention: It is necessary that bystanders are standing at sufficient distance from the machine!

- It is forbidden to cut several pieces or a bundle of wood at the same time - injury hazard!

- Bent pieces of wood must be inserted in the feeding cradle (4) so that arched wall faces towards the rotary saw.

- The feeding cradle (4) for the chopped materials is fitted with counter-tips (12) that prevent revolving of the material being cut.

- Make sure before pressing the switch (8) that the rotary saw (10) is mounted properly and the moving parts of the machine moves freely.

Operation (Fig. A)

Cutting

• Put the material being cut in the feeding cradle (4).
• Press the green switch (15) to turn the machine on. Wait until the machine reaches full speed.
• Grasp the feeding cradle (4) by both hands with the handles (9) and guide it to the rotary saw (10).
• Pressure on the feeding cradle (5) releases the rotary saw from the cover (5).
• Press on the feeding cradle (4) so that the motor speed does not drop.
• After cutting is complete, return the feeding cradle (4) back to its original position.
• Remove the material being cut from the feeding cradle (4).
• To turn the machine off, press the red button (14).

Replacement of the rotary saw

Attention: Unplug the plug from the socket!

Let the rotary saw cool down before replacement!

Do not use flammable liquids for cleaning of the rotary saw.

Always wear work gloves when handling with the rotary saws. Injury hazard!

• Use the key to remove nuts on the metal sheet cover (6) and remove the cover.
• Put the key for the ring nuts with front jaw span (16) on the outer flange (19) and hold it, then loosen the nut with the key (17) counter clockwise.
• Slide the nut (20) and the outer flange (19) from the saw shaft (21).
• Now, you can remove the rotary saw (10) from the shaft (21).
• Thoroughly clean the inner flange (20), outer flange (19) and the nut (18).
• Mount the new rotary saw (18) in reverse order and tighten the nut (18).

Important: Do not use excessive force when putting the nut (18) on the tool or its extension.

Pay attention to correct direction of the rotary saw (10) rotation!

Attention! Do not forget to remove your hands!

Warranty

The warranty applies exclusively on material or production defects. For application of the warranty claims, submit original of the purchase slip with indication of date of sale. The warranty does not apply to cases of unprofessional use, e.g. machine overloading, use of excessive forces, damage caused by strange effects or things. The warranty also does not cover failure to comply with the operation and assembly manual and normal wear and tear.

Residual risks and protective measures

Direct electric contact

Defective cable or plug may result in life threatening electric shock hazard.

Defective cables or plugs must always be replaced by a qualified electrician. Use the machine on the connection points with the residual current devices (RCD).

Indirect electric contact

Inadequate local illumination

Inadequate local illumination poses high safety risk.

Always ensure sufficient illumination when working with the machine.

Emergency procedures

Administer first aid depending on personal injury and seek qualified medical assistance immediately.

Protect injured person against further harm and keep him/her rest.

For case of accidents, each workplace should have a first aid box available according to DIN 13164. Material used from the first aid box must be replenished as soon as possible.

When calling emergency service, please give the following information to operator:

4. Type of injury

Use of the machine according to intended use

The cradle saw for fuel wood is used for linear cutting of the fuel wood of acceptable dimensions (see technical

data) in the feeding cradle that may be skewed towards the rotary saw. This machine is intended for outdoor use only and operation by one man. Other persons must keep sufficient distance from the machine in operation.

The machine may be used in compliance with the intended use only.

Any other use shall be regarded as use not compatible with the intended use. The user/operator shall be liable for any damage or injuries caused thereby and the manufacturer shall be released from any liability. It is permitted to use only the rotary saws suitable for this machine (HM or CV). Use of HSS rotary saws and grinding wheels of any type is prohibited. Operation of the machine in compliance with its intended use is also compliance with safety instructions, assembly manual and operation instructions contained in the operation manual. Operators and maintenance staff must be thoroughly informed about the machine as well as all related risks. In addition, it is necessary to accurately proceed in compliance with applicable directives for accident prevention. Comply with other generally applicable rules related to occupational medicine and occupational health and safety. Changes made to the machine release the manufacturer from any liability for damage thereto. Despite using of the machine in compliance with the intended use, residual risks may not be totally excluded. The following risks may occur due to the machine structure:

• Touching of the rotary saw on non-covered place of the saw.
• Touching of running rotary saw (cutting).
• Ejecting of the material being cut and parts thereof.
• Cracking of the rotary saw.
• Flying of defective parts from the machine.
  • Hearing damage in case required PPE are not used.

The machine may be used in compliance with the intended use only. Any other use in addition to above contradicts to intended use of the machine.

The user/operator will be responsible for the above and the manufacturer will be released from any liability. Please note the appliance is intended for domestic use only. We assume no warranty in case the machine will be used for commercial purposes in trade or industrial operation and for comparable activities.

Disposal

Disposal instructions are illustrated in the form of pictograms on the device or packaging. Description of the pictograms is given in "Identification" chapter.

Disposal of transport packaging

Packaging protects the device against damage during transport. Packaging materials are usually selected according to their impact on environment and they are therefore recyclable. Reuse the packaging materials to save raw materials and to reduce volume of waste. Parts of the packaging (e.g. foil, polystyrene) may be dangerous for children. Suffocation hazard! Keep these parts of the packaging out of reach of children and dispose as soon as possible.

Operator requirements

The operators must thoroughly read operation manual before use.

Qualification

No special qualification is required for operation of the machine except for a briefing conducted by a qualified expert.

Minimum age

The machine may be used by person older than 18 years only. An exception is use by younger person if the use takes place under supervision of an adult trainer in the course of education.

Training

Only appropriate briefing is required for use of the machine. No special training is required.

Troubleshooting
