Symbols on your appliance

Hot surfaces
In order to avoid injury as a result of burns, the surfaces of the device must not be touched during operation. Only use the handles and control elements provided.
2. Intended purpose
This waffle iron is designed for baking waffles, waffle nuts and shaped waffles. The device is designed for private, domestic use. The device must only be used indoors. This device must not be used for commercial purposes.
Foreseeable misuse
WARNING! Risk of material damage!
Hard, pointed objects (such as metal spoons) can damage the non-stick coating of the interchangeable plates. Only use kitchen utensils made of wood or heat-resistant plastic to remove the finished waffles.
3. Safety information
Warnings
If necessary, the following warnings will be used in these operating instructions:

DANGER! High risk: failure to observe this warning may result in injury to life and limb.
WARNING! Moderate risk: failure to observe this warning may result in injury or serious material damage.
CAUTION: low risk: failure to observe this warning may result in minor injury or material damage.
NOTE: circumstances and specifics that must be observed when handling the device.
Instructions for safe operation
- This device can be used by children from the age of 8 and people with restricted physical, sensory or intellectual abilities or people without adequate experience and/or understanding, if they are su-
pervised or instructed on how to use this device safely and if they are aware of the resulting danger. Children must not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by unsupervised children unless they are older than 8 years and supervised.
- Children under the age of 8 must be kept away from the device and the power cable.

- The interchangeable plates and outer surfaces of the device become very hot during operation. Only touch the control elements of the device during operation.
- Clean all parts and surfaces that will come into contact with food before using the device for the first time (see "Cleaning" on page 9).
- If the mains power cable of this device should become damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, the manufacturer's customer service department or a similarly qualified specialist, in order to avoid any hazards.
- Do not use any abrasive or corrosive cleaning agents. Doing this could damage the device, as well as the non-stick coating.
- This device is not intended to be operated using an external timer clock or a separate remote control system.

DANGER for children
- Packing materials are not children's toys. Children should not be allowed to play with the plastic bags: there is a risk of suffocation!
- Keep the device out of the reach of children.

DANGER! Risk of electric shock due to moisture
The housing, the power cable and the mains plug must not be immersed in water or any other liquids.
- Protect the device from moisture, water drops and water spray. Failure to observe this instruction may result in an electrical shock hazard.
- If liquid gets into the device, remove the mains plug immediately. Have the device checked before reusing.
- Never touch the device with wet hands.
- Make sure that the surface under the device is dry.
- If the device has fallen into water, pull out the mains plug immediately, and only then remove the device from the water. Do not use the device again, and have it checked by a specialist.

DANGER! Risk of electric shock
- Never put the device into operation if there are visible damages to the device or the power cable or if the device has been dropped before.

The wall socket must continue to be easily accessible after the device is plugged in.
- Ensure that the power cable cannot be damaged by sharp edges or hot surfaces.
- When using the device, ensure that the power cable cannot be trapped or crushed.
The device is not fully disconnected from the power supply, even after it is switched off. In order to fully disconnect it, pull out the mains plug.
- When removing the mains plug from the wall socket, always pull the plug and never the cable.

- Wait for the device to cool down before removing the interchangeable plates.
- Wait for the device to cool down before cleaning.
WARNING! Risk of material damage
- Hard, pointed objects (such as metal spoons) can damage the non-stick coating of the interchangeable plates. Only use kitchen utensils made of wood or heat-resistant plastic to remove the finished waffles.
- Only use the interchangeable plates in matching pairs, never combine different interchangeable plates with one another.
- Never place the device on hot surfaces (e.g. hob plates) or near heat sources or open fire.
- Only use the original accessories.
The device is fitted with non-slip silicon feet. Because furniture can be coated with a wide variety of varnishes and plastics, and treated with various care products, the possibility cannot be excluded that some of these substances have ingredients that may attack and soften the silicon feet. If necessary, place a non-slip mat under the device.
- Do not use any astringent or abrasive cleaning agents.
- The device and its accessories are not suitable for dishwashers.

DANGER for birds
Birds breathe faster, distribute the air differently in their bodies and are significantly smaller than humans. For this reason, it may be dangerous for birds to inhale even the smallest smoke quantities, which develop while this device is running. When using this device, birds should be relocated into a different room.

Unpacking
- Remove all parts from the packaging.
- Check that all parts are present and intact.
5. Interchangeable plates
With this waffle iron you can prepare three different types of waffle:
- Waffles (Belgian style) using interchangeable plates 7a
- Waffle nuts (for filling) using interchangeable plates 7b, 7c
- Shaped waffles (for filling) using interchangeable plates 7d, 7e
To prepare the different types you can swap the interchangeable plates 7.

DANGER! Risk of electric shock!
Pull the mains plug out of the wall socket, before removing or inserting the interchangeable plates.

DANGER! Risk of injury through burning! Wait for the device to cool down before removing the interchangeable plates.
WARNING! Risk of material damage! Only use the interchangeable plates in matching pairs, never combine different interchangeable plates with one another.
5.1 Removing interchangeable plates
- Undo the device lock 3 and open the device.
- Figure A: slide the upper release button 6 in the direction of the arrow and at the same time slightly tilt the upper part 8, so that you can remove the upper interchangeable plate (7a, 7b or 7d).
- Slide the lower release button 6 in the direction of the arrow and at the same time lift the lower interchangeable plate (7a, 7c or 7e) out of the device.
5.2 Inserting interchangeable plates
- Undo the device lock 3 and open the device.
Lower interchangeable plate:
NOTE: the lower interchangeable plates for waffle nuts 7c and shaped waffles 7e are the ones with depressions for the batter.
- Insert the lower interchangeable plate (7a, 7c or 7e) with the large catches 10 in the back of the holders.
- Press the lower interchangeable plate (7a, 7c or 7e) down, so that the small catches 9 at the front lock into place.
Upper interchangeable plate:
- Insert the upper interchangeable plate (7a, 7b or 7d) with the large catches 10 in the bottom of the holders.
- Press the upper interchangeable plate (7a, 7b or 7d) against the upper part of the device, so that the small catches 9 at the top lock into place.
6. Before using for the first time

FIRE HAZARD! Before turning the device on, place it on a level, stable, dry, heat-resistant surface.

DANGER! Risk of injury through burning! The interchangeable plates and outer surfaces of the device become very hot during operation. Only touch the control elements of the device during operation.
NOTE: you may notice an odour when using for the first time. This is a result of the manufacturing process and is not a defect with the device. Ensure adequate ventilation.
- Clean the interchangeable plates 7 and the outer surfaces before first use (see "Cleaning" on page 9)!
Follow the following steps for each pair of interchangeable plates 7:
- Lightly grease the interchangeable plates 7 with a little cooking oil.
- Insert one pair of interchangeable plates at a time (2x 7a, 7b+7c or 7d+7e)(see "Inserting interchangeable plates" on page 6).
- Close the device and the device lock 3.
- Completely unwind the power cable 4.
- Connect the mains plug 4 with a wall socket. The power indicator 2 is illuminated as long as the device is connected to the power supply.
- Leave the device for approx. 10 minutes to heat up, at least until the green control lamp 1 lights up.
- Pull out the mains plug 4 and allow the device to cool.
- Remove/change the interchangeable plates 7.
- Once you have carried out these steps with all the interchangeable plates 7, clean the interchangeable plates 7 and the outer surfaces again (see "Cleaning" on page 9).
7. Baking waffles

FIRE HAZARD! Before turning the device on, place it on a level, stable, dry, heat-resistant surface.

DANGER! Risk of injury through burning! The interchangeable plates and outer surfaces of the device become very hot during operation. Only touch the control elements of the device during operation.
WARNING! Risk of material damage! Hard and pointed objects (such as metal spoons) can damage the non-stick coating of the interchangeable plates. Only use kitchen utensils made of wood or heat-resistant plastic to remove the finished waffles.
7.1 Waffle nuts / Shaped waffles
- Prepare a suitable batter (see "Recipes" on page 10).
- Choose the desired pair of interchangeable plates (for waffle nuts: 7b+7c or for shaped waffles: 7d+7e) and insert them into the device (see "Inserting interchangeable plates" on page 6).
- Lightly grease the interchangeable plates 7 with a little cooking oil. Use a brush to spread the oil.
- Close the device and the device lock 3.
- Completely unwind the power cable 4.

Connect the mains plug 4 with a wall socket. The power indicator 2 is illuminated as long as the device is connected to the power supply.
-
Allow the device to heat up until the green control lamp 1 lights up.
- Undo the device lock 3 and open the lid.
- Fill every depression in the lower interchangeable plate with 7c/7e approx. 1/2 teaspoon of batter.
NOTE: make sure that every mould is completely filled, so that no holes are formed.
- Close the device and the device lock 3.
- Leave the waffle nuts / shaped waffles to cook for approx. 5 minutes.
- Open the lid and remove the finished nut shaped waffle halves / shaped waffle halves, e. g. with a wooden spatula.
- Once you have finished baking waffle nuts / shaped waffles, pull out the mains plug 4 and allow the device to cool.
- Once the waffle nuts / shaped waffles have cooled a little, carefully break off the protruding edges.
- Fill two halves with the desired filling and put together. Also spread a little of the filling onto the edges, so that the halves stick together better.
7.2 Waffles (Belgian style)
- Prepare a suitable batter (see "Recipes" on page 10).
- Insert the interchangeable plates 7a into the device (see "Inserting interchangeable plates" on page 6).
- Lightly grease the interchangeable plates 7 with a little cooking oil. Use a brush to spread the oil.
- Close the device and the device lock 3.
- Completely unwind the power cable 4.
- Connect the mains plug 4 with a wall socket. The power indicator 2 is illuminated as long as the device is connected to the power supply.
- Allow the device to heat up until the green control lamp 1 lights up.
- Undo the device lock 3 and open the lid.
- Fill each waffle area with approx. 3 tablespoons of batter.
- Close the device and the device lock 3.
- Leave the waffles to cook for approx. 5 minutes.
- Open the lid and remove the finished waffles e. g. with a wooden spatula.
- Once you have finished baking waffles, pull out the mains plug 4 and allow the device to cool.
- The finished waffles are best served immediately, topped with icing sugar, cream, fresh fruit, syrup or chocolate to taste.
8. Cleaning
Clean the device prior to its first use!

DANGER! Risk of electric shock!
- Pull the mains plug out of the wall socket before you clean the device.

DANGER! Risk of injury through burning!
- Allow all the parts to cool down before cleaning.
WARNING! Risk of material damage!
- Do not use any astringent or abrasive cleaning agents.
- The device and its accessories are not suitable for dishwashers.
- Clean the device after each use and remove all food residues.
Interchangeable plates
NOTE: the interchangeable plates 7 are easiest to clean while they are still lukewarm.

Remove the interchangeable plates 7 (see "Removing interchangeable plates" on page 6).
-
Clean the interchangeable plates 7 in water with a mild detergent, and dry thoroughly.
Interior of the device

Check to see if food residue has leaked under the interchangeable plates 7.
-
Remove coarse dirt and burned-on residue using a wooden spatula or similar object.
-
Carefully wipe off fat and liquid dirt using paper towels. Make sure that no pieces of the paper towel are left behind.
-
Only reinsert the interchangeable plates 7 once the interior is clean and dry.
Outer surfaces
- Clean the outer surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
9. Storage
- Clean the device before putting it away and allow all parts to dry completely.
• Figure B: the power cable 4 can be wrapped around the cable spool 12 for storage.
- Store the device in a dry place.
10. Disposal
The symbol showing a wheelie bin crossed through indicates that the product requires separate refuse collection in the European Union. This applies to the product and all accessories

marked with this symbol. Products identified with this symbol may not be discarded with normal household waste, but must be taken to a collection point for recycling electric and electronic appliances. Recycling helps to reduce the consumption of raw materials and protect the environment.
Packaging
When disposing of the packaging, make sure you comply with the environmental regulations applicable in your country.
11. Troubleshooting
If your device fails to function as required, please try this checklist first. Perhaps there is only a minor problem, and you can solve it yourself.

13. Recipes
13.1 Waffles (Belgian style)
For these recipes, use the interchangeable plates for waffles 7a.
Basic waffle recipe
- 5 eggs
- 200 g sugar
• 2 packets of vanilla sugar - 250 g butter
- 500 g flour
- 5 g baking soda
- 400 ml milk

Icing sugar, fruit or cream to taste
-
Whisk the eggs until frothy.
- Add the sugar and vanilla sugar.
- Add the melted butter a little at a time.
- Mix the flour and baking soda together thoroughly.
- While stirring continuously, alternately add spoonfuls of the flour mixture and milk.
Waffles with cinnamon and white chocolate
• 3 eggs
- 150 g sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 150 g melted butter
- 250 g flour
- 50 ml milk
• 100 g grated white chocolate
- Whisk the eggs until frothy.
- Mix together the sugar and cinnamon and add to the eggs.
- Add the melted butter a little at a time.
- While stirring continuously, alternately add spoonfuls of flour and milk.
- Fold in the grated chocolate.
13.2 Waffle nuts and shaped waffles
For these recipes, use the interchangeable plates for waffle nuts 7b, 7c or the interchangeable plates for shaped waffles 7d, 7e.
A wide variety of ingredients with a semi-solid consistency are suitable for filling the waffle nuts.
Sweet fillings
- Both the basic batter and sweet batter are suited to sweet fillings.
• Examples: jam, nut nougat spread, fruit puree (e.g. from apples or plums), yoghurt, custard - cinnamon, caramel, honey or cream could also be added. - Sweet waffle nuts and shaped waffles can also be coated with chocolate or sugar icing.
Savoury fillings
• The salty batter suited to savoury fillings.
• Examples: cream cheese or quark as a base, flavoured with herbs, spices, parmesan cheese, onions, garlic, dried tomatoes or olives (finely chopped).
Basic batter
- 125 g soft butter
- 250 g sugar
- 2 eggs (100g)
- 250 g flour

250 ml warm water (30°C)

Whisk the soft butter, sugar and eggs until the mixture is frothy.
- While stirring continuously, alternately add spoonfuls of flour and water.
Sweet batter
- 200 g soft butter
- 200 g sugar
• 1 packet of vanilla sugar - 2 egg whites
• 1 e g g - 200 g sour cream
- 500 g flour

1 tsp baking soda
-
Whisk the soft butter, sugar, egg whites and egg until the mixture is frothy.
- Mix in the sour cream.
- Mix the flour and baking soda together thoroughly.
- While stirring continuously, add the flour mixture a spoonful at a time.
Salty batter
- 125 g soft butter
- 1 pinch of sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
• 1 e g g -
200 g flour
• 1/4 tsp baking soda -
Whisk the soft butter, sugar, salt and egg until the mixture is frothy.
- Mix the flour and baking soda together thoroughly.
- While stirring continuously, add the flour mixture a spoonful at a time.
14. Warranty of the HOYER Handel GmbH
Dear Customer,
your device is provided with a 3 year warranty starting with the purchase date. In the event of product defects, you are entitled to statutory rights against the vendor. These statutory rights are not restricted by our warranty presented in the following.
Warranty conditions
The warranty period starts with the purchase date. Please keep the original purchase receipt in a safe place. This document is required to verify the purchase.
If within three years from the purchase date of this product a material or factory defect occurs, the product will be repaired or replaced by us – at our discretion – free of charge to you. This warranty implies that within the period of three years the defective device and the purchase receipt are presented, including a brief written description of the defect and the time it occurred.
If the defect is covered by our warranty, the repaired or a new product will be returned to you. No new warranty period starts with a repair or replacement of the product.
Warranty period and statutory claims for defects
The warranty period is not extended when the warranty has been claimed. This also applies to replaced and repaired parts. Any damages and defects already existing at the time of purchase must be reported immediately upon unpacking. Repairs arising after the expiration of the warranty period are subject to a charge.
Warranty coverage
The device was produced carefully according to strict quality guidelines and tested diligently prior to delivery.
The warranty applies to material or factory defects. This warranty does not include product parts that are subject to standard wear and therefore can be considered wear parts; the same applies to damages at fragile parts, e.g. switches, rechargeable batteries or parts made of glass.
This warranty expires if the product is damaged, not used as intended or not serviced. For the proper operation of the product, all instructions listed in the operating instructions must be observed carefully. Any form of use and handling that is advised against in the operating instructions or warned against must always be avoided.
The product is only intended for private and not for commercial use. In the case of incorrect and improper treatment, use of force and interventions not performed by our authorised Service Centre, the warranty shall cease.
Handling in case of a warranty claim
In order to ensure prompt processing of your matter, please observe the following notes:
- Please keep the article number
