How do I turn on the ECG ZV 68 straightener?

How does the ionization function work?

Press the ions button for 2 seconds to activate. Ions surround each hair, reducing curling, static, and keeping hair naturally shiny. You may hear a soft sparkling sound.

How do I lock the buttons to prevent accidental changes?

Hold the (-) button for 2 seconds to activate the button lock. A lock indicator appears on the display. Repeat to unlock.

Does the straightener have an auto shut-off feature?

Yes, the straightener automatically switches off after 30 minutes of inactivity. The display flashes 5 minutes before shut-off. Press the ON/OFF button to prevent shut-off.

How should I clean the straightener?

Unplug and let it cool completely. Wipe the ceramic plates with a moist (not wet) cloth, then dry with a soft cloth. Never rinse or immerse in water.

What is the memory function?

If you turn off the straightener while still plugged in, it remembers the last temperature setting, so you can continue straightening quickly when you turn it back on.

Can I use the straightener on wet hair?

No, the straightener should only be used on dry hair. Using on wet hair can cause damage and electric shock.

OPER ATING MANUAL

Always read the safety&use instructions carefully before using your appliance for the first time. The user's manual must be always included.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Read carefully and save for future use!

Warning: The safety measures and instructions, contained in this manual, do not include all conditions and situations possible. The user must understand that common sense, caution and care are factors that cannot be integrated into any product. Therefore, these factors shall be ensured by the user/s using and operating this appliance. We are not liable for damages caused during shipping, by incorrect use, voltage fluctuation or the modification or adjustment of any part of the appliance.

To protect against a risk of fire or electric shock, basic precautions shall be taken while using electrical appliances, including the following:

1. Make sure the voltage in your outlet corresponds to the voltage provided on the appliance label and that the socket is properly grounded. The outlet must be installed according to valid safety instructions.
2. Do not operate straightener with a damaged cord. All repairs including cord replacements shall be performed by a professional service centre! Do not remove protective covers of the appliance, risk of electric shock!
3. Protect the appliance against direct contact with water and other liquids, to prevent potential electric shock. If the straightener falls into water, unplug the cord from the outlet immediately.
4. Do not operate the straightener outdoors or in a moist environment and do not touch the cord or appliance with wet hands. Risk of electric shock. Do not leave the straightener exposed to direct sunlight or other sources of heat; the straightener can become damaged.
5. Close supervision is necessary for operating the straightener near children!
6. Do not leave the straightener running unattended. For safety reasons, switch off the straightener each time you lay it down.
7. Do not turn the appliance on or off by plugging or unplugging the power cord. Always turn the straightener off using the main switch; afterwards you may unplug the cord from the outlet!
8. Leaving the straightener cord connected to outlet unattended is not recommended. Disconnect the cord from the electrical outlet prior to performing maintenance. Do not pull the cord from the outlet by yanking the cord. Unplug the cord from the outlet by grasping the plug.
9. Do not allow the cord to touch hot surfaces or lead the cord over sharp edges. Do not wrap the cord around the body of the straightener.
10. Do not touch the ceramic plates, they may be hot. The straightener may only be used on dry hair!
11. Unplug the appliance immediately after you are done using it and let the straightener cool completely before putting away.
12. Do not use accessories that the manufacturer does not recommend.
13. Use the straightener only in accordance with the instructions given in this manual. This hair straightener is intended for domestic use only. The manufacturer is not liable for damages caused by the improper use of this appliance.
14. This appliance shall not be used by persons (including children), whose physical, sense or mental inability or insufficient experience and skills prevent him from safely using the appliance, if they are not supervised or if they have not been instructed regarding the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Child supervision is essential to prevent them from playing with the appliance.

Do not operate the appliance near bathtubs, sinks or other containers containing water.

USING THE APPLIANCE

1. Brush or form your dry hair first to remove any locks.

2. Unwind the cord completely and plug the straightener into the outlet.

3. Hold the ON/OFF "☐" button 2 seconds to turn the straightener on. The red backlight of the display will light up. The default temperature is set to 180 °C. The temperature can be adjusted via the temperature control button (-/+) . The digit indicator on the display flashes until the configured temperature is achieved. The desired temperature is achieved after approximately 30 seconds, the display will turn blue, the indicator will stop flashing and the appliance is ready for use.

4. Use the straightener to form your hair as desired.

5. Switch the straightener off and disconnect from the outlet after use.

6. Do not turn the straightener off by disconnecting the plug from the outlet. Wait until the straightener has completely cooled down before putting away or cleaning. The straightener may also be hung by the hanging loop.

Ionization

Technology creating a bundle of ions, surrounding each individual hair. Ions cool the hair, reduce curling, static and keep hair naturally beautiful and shiny.

Pressing the "ions" button for 2 seconds starts the flow of ions surrounding each hair. ION will appear on the display and you may hear a soft sparkling sound.

Setting the temperature

Thanks to a highly sophisticated microprocessor and LCD display, you can set the temperature at will

Pressing the “-/+” buttons you can adjust the temperature at increments of -/+10 °C in the extent from 140 °C to 220 °C. We recommend the following temperature settings.

Fine, thin, coloured, bleached 140 °C – 170 °C
Normal 170 °C – 190 °C
Strong, resilient and for professional shaping results 190 °C – 220 °C

The higher the temperature, the faster you achieve an elegant look. You should refrain from treating the same lock of hair more than once when using the maximum temperature.

Setting the maximum temperature

Press the "°C max" button to quickly set the maximum temperature of 220 °C.

Switching off safely

For safety reasons the appliance automatically switches off after 30 minutes. OFF is displayed on the display and the backlight flashes five minutes before the appliance switches off. If you do not want the appliance to switch off, simply press the “⏻” button again.

Memory function

If you stop in the middle of straightening your hair and you switch the straightener off (and you keep the appliance plugged into the outlet), the straightener will remember its last settings. Therefore you can begin straightening faster.

Lock function

Holding the “(-)” button down for 2 seconds activates the button lock function and the lock indicator will be shown on the display. To cancel the lock, hold the button again for 2 seconds.

USEFUL HAIR TREATMENT TIPS

- Straight hair

Insert about 5 cm of hair in between the ceramic plates, press the handle and slowly slide the hair straightener from the roots to the ends.

- Fine curls

Insert about 5 cm of hair in between the ceramic plates, gently press the handle and slowly slide the hair straightener to the ends; finally, wrap the hair around the plates.

- Outward curls

Insert about 5 cm of hair in between the ceramic plates, press the handle and slowly slide the hair straightener from the roots to the ends and finally curl the ends out gently.

- Inward curls

Insert about 5 cm of hair in between the ceramic plates, press the handle and slowly slide the hair straightener from the roots to the ends and finally curl the ends out gently.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Disconnect the appliance from the electrical output prior to performing any maintenance. The appliance shall only be cleaned when cool; clean the appliance regularly after every use.

Maintain the ceramic plates clean, without dust, impurities, hair gels and sprays. Do not use the straightener together with setting lotion, hair gel, spray, etc. Wipe the plates using a moist (not wet) fabric and dry with soft dry cloth. Never clean the iron under running water, do not rinse or immerse the iron into water! Always make sure the hair straightener is completely cooled, clean and dry before putting it away. Do not wind the cord around the straightener. The cord may become damaged. Keep in a cool and dry area.
