2. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Read these instructions thoroughly before using the appliance. Keep this instruction manual for future reference or new users.

  • Make sure that the mains voltage matches the voltage stated on the rating label of the appliance and that the wall outlet is grounded.
  • This device is only suitable for heating, grilling and browning foods such as meat, fish or vegetables. Do not use dry foods such as rolls or bread.
  • This product is designed for household use only, do not use it for commercial purposes.
  • The device can be used outdoors as long as it is not exposed to rain or water.
  • The appliance may only be used in enclosed spaces with adequate ventilation or with adequate shelter and not as a built-in device.
  • Cecotec assumes no liability for damage resulting from improper use.
  • Do not immerse the cord, plug, or any non-removable part of the appliance in water or any other liquid, nor expose the electrical connections to water. Make sure your hands are dry before handling the plug or switching on the appliance.
  • Do not twist, bend, strain, or damage the power cord in any way. Protect it from sharp edges and heat sources. Do not let it touch hot surfaces. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the working surface or countertop.
  • Ensure that the power outlet is easily accessible so that you can quickly unplug the power cord if necessary.
  • Do not leave the appliance unattended when switched on or still hot.
  • Check the power cord regularly for visible damage. If the cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the official Technical Support Service of Cecotec in order to avoid any type of danger.

  • Use only parts and components provided with the original product by Cecotec.

  • Keep a minimum free distance of 15 cm to each side of the device and 50 cm above it.
  • Completely unwind the power cord before each use.
  • Unplug the device from the outlet after every use, when not using the grill, before cleaning or storing, if a malfunction occurs during the operation and during thunderstorms. Pull from the plug, not the cord to unplug it.
  • The device must not be connected to an external timer or a remote-controlled socket.
  • During and after operation, the appliance is likely to get very hot. Use gloves or other convenient protection accessories in order to avoid burns and injuries. Keep it away from flammable substances and objects. Be especially careful when putting food into the hot device or removing heated food or accessories.
  • Do not place any objects such as towels or pre-packaged foods on or in the grill, this could cause fire hazard.
    • Overheated food or hot oil can catch fire.
  • Do not cover the device's cooling slots on the sides and top, or the air intakes located in the housing's bottom part.
  • After using the appliance, the cooling fans remain in operation for some time until the heating element has dropped below a temperature of 60^ . Do not pull the plug, do not turn off the unit at the main switch on the back of the device as while the fan is running the unit may overheat.
  • Food must not touch the heating element located in the grill. This is extremely hot and foods may ignite.
  • Remove the handle immediately after positioning the grill grate and use it again only if you want to remove the grill.
  • Operate only when the entire grill unit and fat drip tray are in place in the device. Fill the drip tray with a little water in order to avoid ignition of the collected grease and check the water level continuously during operation. Should the water

evaporate, turn the unit off completely and remove the cooled fat drip tray carefully to refill with water.

  • Remove the grill inside unit only after complete cooling of the device.
  • Fats and oils can ignite when not used properly. Never attempt to extinguish with water. Disconnect the device from the electrical outlet and use a suitable extinguishing agent.
  • Do not disassemble the device's feet when operating it.
  • The appliance can only be used by children or persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge.
  • Supervise young children to make sure that they do not play with the appliance. Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is being used near children.

If an unexpected power cut occurs during operation:

  1. Remove the food from the grilling area.
  2. Do not touch the housing and make sure that no other objects come into contact with it.
  3. If the power interruption is short, the fan will continue to run automatically after restoring the power supplies. In this case, let the fan continue until the appliance has cooled down completely.
  4. Otherwise, unplug the appliance from the wall outlet, ensure sufficient room ventilation and do not leave the appliance unattended until it has cooled down completely.

3. BEFORE USE

• Take the product out of the box.
- Remove all packaging materials. Keep the original box and padding in case it is needed for transportation.
- Remove the rest of the accessories from the inside of the device.
- Make sure all the components are included and in good conditions, otherwise, contact

  • Clean the appliance and its components before first use.
  • Operate the appliance with no food for 10 minutes in a well-ventilated room, with the grate and fat drip tray.
  • Clean the device and its components again.
  • Clean all of the accessories in warm dishwater. Dry the parts thoroughly.
  • Connect the device to a power supply.

NOTE: Smoke might be observed during first use due to residual wastes from manufacture.

4. OPERATION

Turning on the high-temperature grill and setting temperature

To turn the unit on, press the power switch on the rear panel. The knob allows you to increase or decrease the temperature of the heating element. The maximum temperature is 850 °C. Press the knob to confirm the set temperature.

Adjusting cooking time

- After confirming the grill temperature, set the desired cooking time. The maximum temperature, 850^ , is potentially dangerous. - The maximum operating time per grilling is 100 minutes, you can select the desired cooking time between 10 and 100 minutes. Press the knob to confirm and start the grill process. After reaching the preset temperature, the countdown will start from the selected cooking time to 0:00.

  • Turn the knob anticlockwise to decrease.
  • Turn the knob clockwise to increase.
  • Press the knob to confirm or cancel.

Auto-off

  • Once the countdown runs out, the unit will switch off automatically.
  • If you want to continue grilling, press the knob twice. The appliance will operate with the previous settings.

Preheating

  • During operation, the current temperature is displayed as measured by a built-in heating element temperature sensor.
  • Once the displayed value oscillates around ± 20^ from the target temperature, the heating elements will be activated or deactivated to maintain the set temperature.
  • The device works most effectively when the entire grill area is preheated, therefore, it is advised to wait 3-5 minutes before inserting food to be grilled in order to obtain better grilling results.

Grilling

  • The usual cooking time is between 1 and 3 minutes on each side of food, but this will always depend on the type of food, thickness etc.

- Place the meat on the non-preheated grill grate and use the guide handle to put it in the preheated high-temperature grill. In the following illustrations, you can see the exposed grill surface in relation to the selected track, or in relation to the distance between the grate and the heating element.

  • Select one of these levels depending on the meat thickness. The meat should be positioned under the heating element, but must not touch it. Remove the handle immediately from the grill grate to avoid heating of the handle.
    • Make sure meat is placed in the middle of the grill grate to ensure it is cooked evenly.
  • To turn meat, remove completely the grill grate and place it on a fireproof surface. Tum meat over and put it back into the device.
  • It is recommended to warm up the device before introducing meat in it. After reaching the target temperature, start the grilling process again to have enough time to cook a piece of meat from both sides in one grilling process.

Cancelling grilling

Hold the knob pressed for 3 seconds to cancel the grilling process, to change the set temperature or to turn the device off.

Allowing meat stand

The device operates at high temperature settings between 400 °C and 850 °C for rapid cooking. For most cuts of meat, it is advisable to let the meat stand after strong irradiation. This can be done in the grill grate or even better in the fat drip tray in the lower Level of the grill at reduced temperature.

Hints

The temperature displayed in the device is measured by a high-precision temperature sensor, but the real temperature decreases as distance between the heating element and meat is increased. The device works through radiant heat; therefore, heat exposure depends on the meat's surface.

• Better results are obtained when meat has fat.

  • Add salt and pepper only after grilling.
  • In case you want to use marinade, use dry marinade before introducing meat in the device. Liquid marinade is not recommended.
  • Use butter or lard to rub meat and enhance flavour.
  • Grill meat with skin for crispy results.
  • First sous-vide cook food and grill it as the final step.

The basic steps to prepare a steak are:

  1. Set 800–850 °C and preheat the device.
  2. Insert meat.
  3. Grill on one side (1-4 minutes, depending on the meat and personal taste).
  4. Turn meat
  5. Grill the other side (1-4 minutes, depending on the meat and personal taste).
  6. Let it simmer.
  7. Enjoy!

Roasting vegetables

Roast vegetables such as zucchini, aubergine, peppers or onions on both sides for perfect grilled vegetables.

5. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Note: It is extremely important to allow the fan to run until the device is completely cool before cleaning.

  • Turn off and disconnect the device from the mains supply before cleaning or maintenance.
  • Remove the fat drip tray and the grill and clean both of them with an appropriate cleaner. First spray the cleaner over them and allow it to act before rinsing.
  • Use a brush with plastic bristles to clean the device's components if necessary.
  • Do not use abrasive or chemical cleaning agents to avoid damaging the device.
  • Rinse and dry thoroughly all its parts and accessories before introducing them back in the appliance.
    • The inside part of the high-temperature grill must be cleaned after each use with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Do not spray cleaner directly in the inside of the device, always use a cloth.
  • Use a soft damp cloth with some water to clean the product's surface.

- The inside unit of the high-temperature grill can be removed for a more comfortable and thorough cleaning, simply unscrew the screws on the side walls, pull them out, clean them and insert them again.

Note: The grill rate and fat drip tray are made of high-quality stainless steel and can be washed in the dishwasher.
