8.1 Intended use of the machine
The machine is designed exclusively for the following activities:
The machine is suitable for private gardens or housework (e.g. used as fixed water-supply unit for washing pond, washing machine, washing basin or bath shower) within the prescribed technical limits.
- Danger: When the pump is connected with washing basin or bath shower, it is unsuitable for conveyance of drinkable water.
- Danger: This machine is merely used in circuit provided with fault current protector (FI-switch 30mA) (VDE 0100-702 Voltage and 0100-738). When the machine is operated nearby swimming pond, garden pond or similar places, it should be fixed at a stationary or overflow-proof position and protected from dropping off. When anyone is in water or directly contacts water, the machine must not be started. The installer must check the electrical connection for being provided with earthings as per standards.
NOTE

8.2 Safety warnings & instructions
Before use of the machine, please carefully read the user manual. Any damage due to failure to obey by the instruction is not under the guarantee scope.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
• Note: Do not use the machine in areas where vapours of paints, solvents or flammable liquids
represent a potential danger (danger of fire or explosion!).
• Note: The machine is not suitable for use in an inflammable or explosive medium.
- Note: Dry-running of the machine is prohibited.
- Note: This machine is not suitable for continuous operation (e.g. cyclic running in filter of swimming pond or industrial equipment.)
- Note: This pump is suitable for conveyance of clean water. Liquid including greasy stain or other materials would damage the pump. This pump must not be used to convey abrasive materials, silt materials, slurry or other viscous materials. If the to-be-pumped medium contains corrosive compositions, the corrosion resistance of the pump materials should be considered. This pump may be used to convey daily clean water, but conveyance of drinkable water is strictly prohibited.
- Note: This machine is protected from splash and should be fixed in a well-ventilated, dry, damp-proof or waterproof place under ambient temperature not above 35^ C. When operating the machine indoors, ensure that the floor is equipped with a drainage channel or leakage-proof mechanism. It must not be stored or used in rain, wet room or shaft well.
- Info: In order to avoid vibrations, the machine should be connected to the pipeline system via a highly flexible hose rather than a rigid pipe for stationary indoor installations, e.g. for domestic water supply.
• Info: For stationary installation, the machine must be fixed to the ground with four screws.
- Info: Suction pipeline: Use a kink-resistant and vacuum-proof suction pipeline with an inner diameter of at least 25 mm (1").
- Risk: Pressure pipe: The pressure pipe can burst during operation due to non-pressure-resistant components and improper installation. Risk of liquid ejection!
- Risk: In accordance with product protection law we assume no responsibility for damage due to failure to observe the stipulations herein, which is also applicable to the accessories.
- Risk: Anyone who is not familiar with operation of the machine is not allowed to operate the machine. Children and persons below the age of 16 are not allowed to use the machine and should be especially away from the energized machine.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
The machine must be checked for safety before operation to ensure that the cables and plugs are in good condition. If the machine is defective, it must not be used.
• Grounding: Make sure that the machine is grounded.
- Note: Please check, whether the supply voltage and the frequency correspond to the specifications on the machine's type plate.
- When operating the machine outdoors, the electrical connection must be splash-proof.
- Note: The warranty is void if the cable or the plug is damaged. The plug must be replaced immediately with a suitable cable. Use a supply cable that fulfils the electrical requirements
(e.g. H07RN, H05RN) and take the required cross-section of the supply cable from a current carrying capacity table.
INSTALLATION
Before starting, the suction pipeline and the pressure pipeline shall be fixed onto the machine. The suction pipeline sucks the water from pond to the machine and the suction connection is at side of the machine. The suction pipeline shall be kept absolutely tight, or the suction would be impaired or even impossible.
To ensure tightness, all threads must be wrapped with either hemp fibres or a thread seal PTFE tape. For steel or copper threads, use a thread seal PTFE tape.
The suction pipeline must be fixed with a non-return valve, or after stop of the machine the system pressure would reduce through the suction pipeline which if household water supply unit or automatic sprinkler is used which would result in frequent out-controlled on/off of the machine. In principle, it is suggested to directly install a non-return valve between the machine inlet side and the suction pipeline because by this way after shutdown of equipment the suction pipeline will not be idle and always under pressure or the suction hose would be broken. In addition a suction valve may be fixed in front of suction pipeline which certainly is not absolutely necessary to fix.
Pumps have self-suction function, i.e. they are merely required to prime before they are firstly used. The case of pumps of all types is filled with water from the filling port on the case. Before filling, the screwed cap is opened and water is filled to the pump until air is invisible from the case. It should be noted that during the filling process, air bubble would occur inside the pump. In this case please slightly shake the pump in different directions to eliminate the bubble and then resume filling. Repeat the above process for several runs until water just reaches under the filling port. Then, screw the cap on the filling port again. The cap must not be excessively tightened or the pump case or pipe thread would be damaged.
In order to shorten the idle time, it is suggested to fully fill water into suction pipeline (including the fore-filter) before starting. The maximum suction depth is 8m, i.e. the vertical distance between the pump and the plane of water pond surface must not exceed 8m. The horizontal section of the suction pipeline must be slightly inclined from the water source towards the pump, otherwise air would be sucked from pipeline and thus the pump would be impossible to normally run. The suction pipeline should be as short as possible as the conveying capacity decreases with increasing hose length. Only after all connections of pipelines are completed and the pump is fully filled with water, may the power be switched on and the pump started. During suction, the discharge port must be opened so as to completely remove air from the entire system and form hydraulic pressure. If then hydraulic pressure is not formed after the above specified maximum suction time, the pump must be switched off and then eliminate the troubles as per chapter "Troubleshooting".
It should be noted that the above data is the maximum value of the pumping pipeline, which would be reduced because of overcoming the suction depth and the fixed components (such as pressure pipeline, bends and fore-filter).
- Pumps: They are merely allowed to connect with household water-supply pipeline with reinforced hose and the hose commonly used in garden is not allowed because they would be soon cracked or broken due to abrasion, long-term pressure action and ageing of materials.
- Pump fore-filter: The suction pipeline shall be fixed with a filter to prevent the machine from damage by the silt, slurry or other abrasive materials in the pumped medium. Installation of filter in the pressure pipe is not allowed.
- Suction pipeline: The inner diameter of the suction pipeline shall be at least 25 mm (1"). The suction pipeline must be kink-resistant and suitable for use under vacuum. A sufficient water supply must be guaranteed and the end of the pipe must always be immersed (at least 10cm deep) in water.
Pressure pipeline: The pressure pipeline is used to feed the water from the machine to the outlet (tap or water outlet) and its connection with the pressure pipeline is at the top of machine case. In order to minimize friction and thus pressure loss, the pipe diameter must be at least 34 inch. All components of the pressure line must be pressure-resistant. - Danger: The machine must not be connected to the power supply during installation.
- Danger: The user may take proper measures to eliminate the losses due to fault of pump or its components resulted from over pumping (e.g. fixing immersion-proof unit, or spare pump or storage barrel) however ZIPPER is not responsible for the incurred expenses.
MAINTENANCE
Danger: Before each maintenance or locating faults, the power of the pump must be cut off. Replacement of defective cable must be undertaken by qualified technicians. When dismantling machine components, all seals must be replaced.
Adjust the pressure in the pressure vessel: To ensure that the pressure switch can switch on and off correctly, there must be a pressure of 1,8 bar in the pressure vessel. If the machine can only be started after the water has been drained, the pressure in the pressure vessel must be readjusted.
Proceed as follows:
1. Open the pressure pipe (1) to drain the water completely.![]() | 2. Unscrew the plastic cover (1) in the front of pump head. The air control valve (2) is located under the plastic cover.![]() | 3. Connect the compre-ssor hose to the air control valve and fill in air until the pressure is optimised (1,8 bar).![]() | 4. Screw the plastic cover back on, fit the pressure hose (1) and connect the machine to the power supply (2). Check machine for function Check machine for proper function.![]() |
8.3 Disposal

Observe the national waste disposal regulations. Never dispose of the machine, machine components or operating equipment in the residual waste. If necessary, contact your local authorities for information regarding available disposal options. If you purchase a new machine or equivalent equipment from your specialist dealer, he is obliged in certain countries to dispose of your old machine properly.
9 TROUBLESHOOTING
WARNING

Danger due to electrical voltage!
Handling the machine with connected power supply may result in serious injury or death.
→ Disconnect the machine from the power supply before starting work to eliminate defects!
Many possible sources of error can be eliminated in advance if the machine is properly connected to the power supply. If you are unable to carry out the necessary repairs properly and/or do not have the required training, always consult a specialist to solve the problem.
| Trouble | Possible cause | Solution |
| Machine does not run or stops suddenly during operation | 1. Interruption of power supply2. Power line or plug is defective3. The mechanical seal is sucked4. Due to the pressure in the pipeline, the pressure switch interrupts the circuit5. The installation height of faucet has exceeded the pressure value of pressure switch | 1. Check the fuse and the power supply and switch on the external power supply2. Consult a specialist3. The mechanical seal will suffer from resistance after a long standstell. Switch off the machine and disconnect it from the power supplyAllow the machine to cool down and turn the shaft using a screwdriver. As soon as the shaft can move freely, switch on the machine4. Open a faucet, at this moment, the pressure switch will power on automatically after depressurization5. Please adjust the pressure value of pressure switch |
| Insufficient flow rate / no flow rate (self-suction failure) | 1. Dirty water or grainy wastewater will reduce the suction capacity of the machine2. Hose/pipeline/filter screen is blocked3. Hose/pipeline system is damaged4. The suction pipeline is too soft, so that it flattens during suction and no water can be sucked in5. Due to the air in the pump head, the pump fails to fill completely with water6. The end of the suction pipeline should be immersed at least 10 cm into the water7. The joint of the suction pipeline is untighted | 1. Clean up the filter screen and replace damaged spare parts (e.g. the worn impeller,...)2. Clean pipeline and the filter screen3. Replace the pipeline4. Replace the threaded reinforced anti-vacuum pipe or pressure-proof hard tube5. Fill up the pump head with water6. Check whether the water source is enough, then, immerse the inlet of the suction pipeline at least 10 cm into the water6. Replace the thread sealing and completely seal the thread |
| Machine shuts off after a short period of time | 1. The pipeline or the pump is blocked and the thermal circuit breaker interrupts the circuit2. The thermoswitch interrupts the power supply due to excessive water or environment temperature3. Due to the pressure in the pipeline, the pressure switch interrupts the power supply4. An obstruction is caused by the damaged impeller | 1. Allow the machine to cool down and remove plugging maters2. Ensure that the water or environment temperature is less than 35°C3. Open a faucet, at this moment, the pressure switch will power on automatically after depressurization4. Please contact a specialist |
| The machine is started frequently | 1. Pipeline or joint leakage2. No non-return valve fitted to the suction pipeline3. The pressure value in the pressure vessel is very low4. The inner container of pressure tank is sucked | 1. Please check the pipeline and the threaded joints and install correctly again to avoid leaks2. Install a non-return valve on the suction pipeline3. Adjust the pressure value in the pressure vessel4. Draw water and close the water valve slowly. As a result, the sucked part will be opened after multiple operations. |
