This operating manual should help you to familiarise yourself with your product and to use it for its intended purpose.

The operating manual includes important instructions for the safe, proper and economic operation of the product, for avoiding danger, for minimising repair costs and downtimes and for increasing the reliability and extending the service life of the product.

In addition to the safety instructions in this operating manual, you must also observe the regulations applicable to the operation of the product in your country.

Keep the operating manual package with the power tool at all times and store it in a plastic cover to protect it from dirt and moisture. They must be read and carefully observed by all operating personnel before starting the work.

The product may only be used by personnel who have been trained to use it and who have been instructed with respect to the associated hazards.

The required minimum age must be observed.

In addition to the safety instructions in this operating manual and the separate regulations of your country, the generally recognised technical rules relating to the operation of identical products must also be observed.

We accept no liability for accidents or damage that occur due to a failure to observe this manual and the safety instructions.

4. Proper use

Only use the electric leaf vacuum/blower for the following purposes:

• In blowing mode for collecting leaves or general garden waste such as prunings or for removing them from hard-to-reach places.
• In suction mode for vacuuming and shredding dry leaves and other light, loose and non-combustible garden waste.
• The product must not be used for collecting flammable or explosive products, hot embers, ashes, burning cigarettes and pieces of branches, sharp objects, metal objects, stones and other objects that could be dangerous for the operator. This can result in injuries and can damage the product.

The product may only be used in the intended manner. Any use beyond this is improper. The user/operator, not the manufacturer, is responsible for damages or injuries of any type resulting from this.

An element of the intended use is also the observance of the safety instructions, as well as the assembly instructions and operating information in the operating manual.

Persons who operate and maintain the product must be familiar with the manual and must be informed about potential dangers.

The liability of the manufacturer and resulting damages are excluded in the event of modifications of the product.

The product may only be operated with original parts and original accessories from the manufacturer.

The safety, operating and maintenance specifications of the manufacturer, as well as the dimensions specified in the technical data, must be observed.

Please note that our products were not designed with the intention of use for commercial or industrial purposes. We assume no guarantee if the product is used in commercial or industrial applications, or for equivalent work.

The product is intended for use by adults. Children under the age of 16 may only use the product when supervised. The manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by an improper use or incorrect operation of this device.

5. Safety instructions

General power tool safety warnings

⚠ WARNING - Read all safety informa structions, illustrations and technical data for this product.

Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

The term “power tool” used in the safety instructions refers to mains-powered electrical tools (with a mains cable) and battery-powered electrical tools (without a mains cable).

Warning! This power tool generates an electromagnetic field during operation. This field can impair active or passive medical implants under certain circumstances. In order to prevent the risk of serious or deadly injuries, we recommend that persons with medical implants consult with their physician and the manufacturer of the medical implant prior to operating the power tool.

Electrical safety

a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.

f) If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

Personal safety

a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of carelessness when using electrical tools can result in serious injuries.

b) Wear personal protective equipment and always safety goggles. Protective equipment such as a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.

c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or rechargeable battery, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.

d) Remove any adjusting key or screwdriver before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.

e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.

f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.

g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.

h) Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.

i) Do not work with the device during rain, thunderstorms and especially when there is a risk of lightning.

j) Keep extension cords away from dangerous moving parts to avoid damage to the extension cable.

Work area safety

a) Keep your work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.

b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.

c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

Power tool use and care

a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.

b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or remove the battery pack, if detachable, from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

e) Maintain power tools and accessories. Check whether moving parts function properly and do not get stuck and whether parts are broken or are damaged and thus adversely affect the electric tool function. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.

f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.

g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

h) Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.

Service

a) Only have your electric tool repaired by qualified specialists and only with original spare parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

Safety instructions for electric leaf vacuum/blowers

Instructions

a) Read through the operating instructions carefully. Familiarise yourself with the controls and proper operation of the machine.
b) Never allow children or persons who are not familiar with these instructions to use the machine. Local regulations may restrict the age of the user.
c) Note that the operator or user is responsible for accidents or hazards to other people or their property.

Preparation

a) Use ear protection and safety goggles. Wear them during the entire time the machine is in use.
b) Always wear sturdy footwear and long trousers when operating the machine. Do not operate the machine barefoot or in open sandals. Avoid wearing loose-fitting clothing or clothing with hanging strings or ties.
c) Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery that could be drawn into the suction opening. Keep long hair away from the suction openings.

d) Operate the machine in a recommended position and only on firm, level surfaces.

e) Do not use the machine on a paved surface or gravel surface where ejected material could cause injuries.

f) Always carry out a visual inspection before use to check that the shredder, the bolts of the shredder and other fasteners are secured, that the housing is undamaged and that the guards and shields are in place. Replace worn or damaged components in sets to maintain balance. Replace damaged or illegible labelling.

g) Check the power supply and the extension cable for signs of damage or ageing before use. If a cable is damaged during use, disconnect the mains connection cable from the mains immediately. Do not touch the cable until it has been disconnected from the mains. Do not use the machine if the cable is damaged or tattered.
h) Never operate the machine while people, especially children, or animals are nearby.

Operation

a) Before starting the machine, make sure that the feeder is empty.
b) Keep your face and body away from the feed opening.
c) Do not allow hands, other body parts or clothing to be in the feeder, ejection port or near moving parts.
d) Be careful to be stable when standing and not to lose your balance. Do not overreach. When feeding material, never stand on a higher level than the level of the base of the machine.

e) Walk, do not run.

f) Do not stay in the ejection area when operating the machine.

g) Be extremely careful when feeding material into the machine that no pieces of metal, stones, bottles, cans or other foreign objects are introduced.

h) Switch off the power source immediately and wait until the machine has run down if the cutting mechanism hits a foreign object or if the machine starts to make unusual noises or vibrate.

Disconnect the machine from the mains and take the following steps before restarting and operating the machine:

• check for damage;
• replace or repair damaged parts;
• check for loose parts and tighten them.

i) Do not allow processed material to accumulate in the ejection zone as this may prevent proper ejection.

j) Switch off the power sources and disconnect the machine from the mains if the machine becomes clogged before cleaning it of debris.

k) Never operate the machine with defective guards or shields or without safety devices, for example the attached collecting bag.

I) Keep the energy sources clean of debris and other accumulations to prevent damage to it or possible fire.

m) Do not transport the machine while the energy source is active.
n) Stop the machine and remove the plug from the power socket. Ensure that all moving parts have come to a complete stop

• whenever you leave the machine unsupervised,
• before clearing a blockage or blocked ducts,
• before checking, cleaning or other work on the machine

o) Do not tilt the machine while the energy source is active.

Maintenance and storage

a) When the machine is stopped for servicing, inspection, storage or for replacing accessories, switch off the power source, disconnect the machine from the mains and ensure that all moving parts have run out. Allow the machine to cool down before inspections, adjustments, etc. Maintain the machine with care and keep it clean.
b) Store the machine in a dry place and out of reach of children.
c) Always allow the machine to cool down before storing it.
d) When servicing the shredder, be aware that even though the energy source is switched off due to the interlocking function of the guard, the shredder can still be moved.
e) Replace worn or damaged parts for safety reasons. Only use original spare parts and accessories.
f) Never attempt to bypass the interlocking function of the safety guard.
g) Switch off the machine before attaching or removing the bag.
h) The machine should be supplied via a residual current device (RCD) with a trigger current of no more than 30 mA.

6. Residual risks

The product has been built according to state-of-the-art and the recognised technical safety rules. However, individual residual risks can arise during operation.

• Health hazard due to electrical power, with the use of improper electrical connection cables.
• Furthermore, despite all precautions having been met, some non-obvious residual risks may still remain.

• Residual risks can be minimised if the "Safety Instructions" and the "Intended Use" together with the operating manual as a whole are observed.
• Avoid accidental start-ups of the product: The operating button may not be pressed when inserting the plug in a socket. Use the tool attachment that is recommended in this operating manual. This is how to ensure that your product provides optimum performance.
• Keep your hands away from the working area when the product is in operation.

Warning!

In case of extended working periods, the operating personnel may suffer circulatory disturbances in their hands (vibration white finger) due to vibrations.

Raynaud's syndrome is a vascular disease that causes the small blood vessels on the fingers and toes to cramp in spasms. The affected areas are no longer supplied with sufficient blood and therefore appear extremely pale. The frequent use of vibrating devices can cause nerve damage in people whose circulation is impaired (e.g. smokers, diabetics).

If you notice unusual adverse effects, stop working immediately and seek medical advice.

Observe the following information to reduce hazards:

• Keep your body and especially your hands warm in cold weather.
  • Take regular breaks and move your hands to promote circulation.
• Ensure as little vibration as possible at the device via regular maintenance and stable parts on the machine.

8. Unpacking

• Open the packaging and carefully remove the product.
• Remove the packaging material, as well as the packaging and transport safety devices (if present).
• Check whether the scope of delivery is complete.
• Check the product and accessory parts for transport damage. In the event of complaints the carrier must be informed immediately. Later claims will not be recognised.
• If possible, keep the packaging until the expiry of the warranty period.
• Familiarise yourself with the product by means of the operating manual before using for the first time.
• With accessories as well as wearing parts and replacement parts use only original parts. Spare parts can be obtained from your specialist dealer.
• When ordering please provide our article number as well as type and year of manufacture for the product.

⚠ WARNING!

The product and the packaging material are not children's toys! Do not let children play with plastic bags, films or small parts! There is a danger of choking or suffocating!

9. Assembly

Warning!

Only carry out maintenance, modification, adjustment and cleaning work when the motor is switched off and the mains is disconnected.

9.1 Fitting the blast/suction tube (Fig. 3, 4)

1. Insert the middle blast/suction tube (9) into the motor housing (12).
2. Secure the centre blast/suction tube (9) with two of the locking screws (A). Use a slotted screwdriver for this (not included in the scope of delivery).
3. Insert the front blast/suction tube (11) into the centre blast/suction tube (9).
4. Secure the front blast/suction tube (11) with two of the locking screws (A). Use a slotted screwdriver for this (not included in the scope of delivery).

Note!

The locking screws (A) cannot be removed after installation for safety reasons. This means that the blast/suction tube can no longer be dismantled.

9.2 Fitting the collection bag (Fig. 5)

The collection bag (8) is only required when operating as a leaf vacuum. Before starting work, check that the zip of the collection bag (8) is properly closed.

1. Place the collection bag inlet with locking device (8b) on the ejection opening (14). Make sure that the collection bag inlet with locking device (8b) is properly engaged.
2. Hang the collection bag eye at the rear (8a) in the hook at the rear (12a).
3. Hook the front collection bag eye (8c) into the front hook (9a).

9.3 Remove the collection bag (8)

1. Remove the front collection bag eye (8c) from the front hook (9a).
2. Actuate the two locking devices on the collection bag inlet (8b).
3. Pull the collection bag inlet with locking device (8b) off the ejection opening (14).
4. Remove the rear collection bag eye (8a) from the rear hook (12a).

9.4 Fitting the carrying strap (Fig. 1, 2)

1. Open the carabiner hook (13a) of the carrying strap (13).
2. Clip the carabiner hook (13a) into the fastening eye of the carrying strap (2).
3. Adjust the length of the carrying strap (13) to suit.

Note

Never wear the carrying strap (13) diagonally across your shoulder and chest, but only on one shoulder, this allows you to quickly remove the product from your body in the event of danger. Open the buckle to be able to open the catch (13) quickly in the event of an accident.

10. Commissioning

Attention!

Always make sure the product is fully assembled before commissioning!

10.1 Cable strain relief (Fig. 6)

Warning!

Ensure that the on/off switch is in position "0".

1. For operation you need an extension cable (not included in the scope of delivery) for outdoor use (max. 50 m, 2.5 mm ^4 cross-section). Form a loop with the extension cable.
2. Pass the loop through the cable strain relief (6) and hang it in the hook of the cable strain relief (6).
3. Insert the mains plug into the corresponding end of the extension cable.

10.2 Select operating mode (Fig. 1)

The operating mode can be selected using the mode selector lever (7):

Use as a leaf vacuum.

Use as a leaf blower.

Attention!

Changing the operating mode while the product is switched on may result in injury and damage to the product.

10.3 Start,

1. Connect the extension cable to a suitable energy source.
2. When using as a leaf vacuum, make sure that the collection bag (8) is properly fitted.
3. Move the on/off switch (4) into the "I" position.

10.4 Switching off

1. Move the on/off switch (4) into the "0" position.

11. Operation

11.1 Set the engine speed

The motor speed can be adjusted using the speed control (3). To do this, turn the speed control (3) and select the appropriate level. Levels 1-6 can be selected.

The engine speed should be adapted to the type of material to be removed:

• Use a low motor speed for light material on the lawn.
• Use a moderate motor speed to move grass and light leaves on asphalt or solid ground.
• Use a high speed for larger garden waste.

11.2 Leaf blower operation

⚠️ Risk of injury!

If you direct the airflow at other people, animals or objects (e.g. windows), this can cause injury and damage.

• Direct the air flow away from you.
• Never direct the airflow at other people, animals or objects.
• Do not blow away hard objects such as stones or branches.

Note

Always hold the product with both hands during the work. Hold both handles (front and rear) with a firm grip.

• Place your left hand on the front handle (1) and your right hand on the rear handle (5).
• Hold the product a few centimetres above the ground and walk forward slowly, with a sweeping motion.
• You can use the wheels (10) for ergonomic operation. These enables the product to be moved simply and easily over the surface.

11.3 Operating the leaf vacuum

During suction, the sucked-in leaves are shredded to reduce volume, blown through the ejection port and collected in the collection bag (8).

Note

Always hold the product with both hands during the work. Hold both handles (front and rear) with a firm grip.

Risk of injury!

If the collection bag is not secured during operation in suction mode, this can lead to injuries from flying parts.

• Only use the leaf vacuum in suction mode when the collection bag is properly fitted.
• Ensure that the collection bag is not damaged.

- Place your left hand on the front handle (1) and your right hand on the rear handle (5).

- The collection bag (8) should be on the right side of the operator.

- When used as a leaf vacuum, it is best to operate the product at medium/high speed.

- Do not vacuum up too many leaves at once, this can lead to clogging of the tube and the shredder. Do not vacuum hard or wet materials.

- Use the wheels (10) for ergonomic operation. These enables the product to be moved simply and easily over the surface.

11.4 Empty the collection bag (8)

The collection bag (8) also works like a filter, similar to an ordinary household vacuum cleaner. For this reason, it is best not to fill the collection bag (8) completely and remove bulky objects immediately.

1. Switch off the motor and wait until the product comes to a complete stop.
2. Open the zip of the collection bag (8) and empty the collection bag (8) without detaching it from the outlet opening (14).

Note

When using the leaf vacuum, do not collect wet grass or leaves, otherwise there is a risk of jamming the rotor or the collection bag.

Note

If the collection bag (8) is too full this reduces the performance of the product and can cause the motor to overheat.

11.5 Remove blockage

Risk of injury!

If you remove blockages with your bare hands, you may injure yourself.

• Wear protective gloves.

• Use suitable tools (e.g. a wooden stick).

• Switch off the motor and wait until the product comes to a complete stop.

• Pull out the mains plug.
• Check the blast/suction tube for blockages. Gently tap the pipe or use a wooden stick to loosen blockages. If necessary, tap the tube lightly on the ground to loosen the blockage.
• Check the ejection opening (14) for blockages. To do so, remove the collection bag (8), as described in section 9.3. Remove the blockage with a wooden stick if necessary.

Note!

For safety reasons, the locking screws (A) cannot be removed once the blast/suction tube has been installed. This means that the blast/suction tube can no longer be dismantled.

11.6 Overload protection

In the event of overloading, the motor switches itself off. Switch the product off and pull out the mains plug. Then check whether there is a blockage or jam and remove it. The product is only ready for use again after it has cooled down completely.

12. Working instructions

• Before switching on the product, make sure that it is not directed towards people or animals.
  • Always hold the product with both hands during the work. Hold both handles (front and rear) with a firm grip.
• The product must only be operated at reasonable times - not early in the morning or late at night when others may be disturbed. The times listed with the local authorities must be followed.
• Use rakes and brooms to loosen up waste before blowing.
• Lightly dampen surfaces in dusty conditions.

13. Electrical connection

The electrical motor installed is connected and ready for operation. The connection complies with the applicable VDE and DIN provisions.

The customer's mains connection as well as the extension cable used must also comply with these regulations.

Damaged electrical connection cable

The insulation on electrical connection cables is often damaged.

This may have the following causes:

• Pressure points, where connection cables are passed through windows or doors.
• Kinks where the connection cable has been improperly fastened or routed.
• Places where the connection cables have been cut due to being driven over.
  • Insulation damage due to being ripped out of the wall outlet.
• Cracks due to the insulation ageing.

Such damaged electrical connection cables must not be used and are life-threatening due to the insulation damage.

Check the electrical connection cables for damage regularly. Ensure that the connection cables are disconnected from electrical power when checking for damage.

Electrical connection cables must comply with the applicable VDE and DIN provisions. Only use connection cables of the same designation.

The printing of the type designation on the connection cable is mandatory.

For single-phase AC motors, we recommend a fuse rating of C 16A or K 16A for products with a high starting current (from 3000 watts)!

Connection type X

If the mains connection cable of this product is damaged, it must be replaced by a special connection cable which can be obtained from the manufacturer or its service department.

14. Cleaning

Warning!

Only carry out maintenance, modification, adjustment and cleaning work when the motor is switched off and the mains is disconnected.

• Keep protective devices, air vents and the engine housing as free of dust and dirt as possible. Rub the product clean with a clean cloth or blow it off with compressed air at low pressure.
  • We recommend that you clean the product directly after every use.
• Clean the product at regular intervals using a damp cloth and a little soft soap. Do not use any cleaning products or solvents; they could attack the plastic parts of the product. Make sure that no water can penetrate the interior of the product. Water penetration increases the risk of an electric shock.
• Never immerse the product in water or other liquids for cleaning.

When used as a leaf vacuum:

• After finishing work, remove the collection bag (8), turn it upside down and clean it thoroughly and dry it if necessary. This prevents the development of mould and unpleasant odours.
- A heavily soiled collection bag (8) can be washed with soap and water and then dried.
- If the zip is difficult to operate, rub the zip teeth with a dry soap bar.

15. Storage

Store the product and its accessories in a dark, dry and frost-free place that is inaccessible to children.

The optimum storage temperature lies between 5 and 30^ .

Store the product in its original packaging. Cover the product to protect it from dust or moisture. Store the operating manual with the product.

16. Maintenance

Warning!

Only carry out maintenance, modification, adjustment and cleaning work when the motor is switched off and the mains is disconnected.

16.1 Replace the wheels (10)

1. Hold one of the two wheels (10) and turn the other wheel (10) anticlockwise.
2. Unscrew the wheels (10) completely.
3. Unscrew the spare wheels.
4. The replacement wheels are fitted in reverse order.
5. Make sure that the wheels (10) run smoothly after assembly.

The product has no internal parts that require maintenance.

17. Repair & ordering spare parts

After any repair or maintenance work, make sure that all safety-related parts are in place and in perfect condition. All parts which may cause injury must be kept where they are inaccessible to children or others.

Attention: According to the German Product Liability Act, no liability is accepted for damage caused by improper repairs or by not using original spare parts.

Such work should be performed by a customer service centre or an authorised specialist. The same applies to accessory parts.

Notes on the electrical and electronic equipment act [ElektroG]

Waste electrical and electronic equipment does not belong in household waste, but must be collected and disposed of separately!

• Used batteries or rechargeable batteries that are not installed permanently in the old appliance must be removed non-destructively before disposal. Their disposal is regulated by the battery law.
• Owners or users of electrical and electronic devices are legally obliged to return them after use.
• The end user is responsible for deleting their personal data from the old device being disposed of!
• The symbol of the crossed-out dustbin means that waste electrical and electronic equipment must not be disposed of with household waste.
• Waste electrical and electronic equipment can be handed in free of charge at the following places:
• Public disposal or collection points (e.g. municipal works yards)
• Points of sale of electrical appliances (stationary and online), provided that dealers are obliged to take them back or offer to do so voluntarily.

- Up to three waste electrical devices per type of device, with an edge length of no more than 25 centimetres, can be returned free of charge to the manufacturer without prior purchase of a new device from the manufacturer or taken to another authorised collection point in your vicinity.

• If the manufacturer delivers a new electrical appliance to a private household, the manufacturer can arrange for the free collection of the old electrical appliance upon request from the end user. Please contact the manufacturer's customer service for this.
• These statements only apply to devices installed and sold in the countries of the European Union and which are subject to the European Directive 2012/19/EU. In countries outside the European Union, different regulations may apply to the disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment.

19. Troubleshooting

The following table shows fault symptoms and describes remedial measures in the event of your product failing to work properly. If you cannot localise and rectify the problem with this, please contact your service workshop.
