1. DESCRIPTION AND MAIN FEATURES

1.1. INTRODUCTION

This manual contains instructions for use and maintenance as well as the technical data and safety instructions for the machine. The manual must be read carefully before using the machine.

In the event of a transfer or sale, the manual must be handed over together with the machine. If it is damaged or lost, you must request a copy from the manufacturer. The manual is an integral part of the machine.

The content of this manual corresponds to the latest technical information available at the time of printing. The manufacturer reserves the right to make changes at any time without prior notice. In this case, this manual does not lose its validity.

1.2. INFORMATION ON THE MACHINE AND INTENDED USE

The hand-guided, self-propelled, single-axle high grass mower for agricultural purposes is equipped with a front rotor with Y-blades.

These machines are used to cut grass in places where the grass does not need to be collected and where a mower with bulky accessories cannot reach; they are used in small areas, for mending work, in orchards, on the edges of ditches and on relatively sloping hillsides. The cut grass is shredded so that it decomposes quickly.

The machine consists of a load-bearing gearbox assembly on which an internal combustion engine is installed, which drives the front wheels and the engine. The rotor is equipped with blades that rotate around a horizontal axis.

The machine is controlled by an operator from the ground. He controls the movement via a handlebar (guide bar) on which most of the control elements are located.

The application and use of attachments not mentioned in this manual or not authorised by the manufacturer is expressly prohibited. The use of unauthorised attachments will invalidate the product warranty and endanger the safety of the user.

You can set the cutting height from 30 mm to 160 mm using the handwheel (1) (Fig. 11).

4.1.11. LOCKING THE CASTOR WHEELS

The two pins (2) (Fig. 11) can be used to turn the two front castor wheels freely or to lock them in a straight position in the direction of feed.

The locked position helps to maintain the working direction on inclined surfaces

Figure 12 shows the hooked ring, which allows the impeller to rotate freely.

Figure 13 shows the loosened ring, which blocks the impeller.

4.2. COMMISSIONING THE MOTOR

NOTE: Read the operating and maintenance manual for the motor accordingly.

a. Ensure that all control levers are free (see Fig. 10 (1) & (3)).

b. Open the fuel tap on the engine.

c. Set the start switch to "ON" (Fig. 10 (5)).

d. Accelerate slightly by carefully turning the throttle lever 1/4 turn (Fig. 10 (2)).

e. Set the starter lever of the engine to the desired position. See the engine operating and maintenance manual.

f. Take the starter handle of the engine in your hand and pull it vigorously. Once the engine has started, you must accompany the handle to the machine until the rope is fully wound up. See the engine operating and maintenance manual. If the engine still does not start after several attempts, you should check points b, c, d and e.

g. Return the motor starter lever to the driving position as soon as you notice that the motor starts to run irregularly or wants to switch off.

h. Move the throttle lever (2) to the minimum position and allow the engine to warm up.

To ensure proper lubrication of the petrol engine, do not work on slopes with a gradient of more than 25 degrees for a long period of time. See the engine manual.

The engine must not be left switched on indoors. The exhaust fumes are toxic!

DANGER

SABO 60-PRO F Vario - DANGER - 1

It is absolutely forbidden to remove and / or modify the safety devices of the machine.

4.3. USE OF THE MACHINE

- On slopes, always work in a transverse direction and not uphill and downhill;

- Always pay attention to your support points on the slopes;

- Extreme caution is required when changing direction on slopes;

- Do not work on very steep slopes.

As soon as you have reached the work area, you must take the following measures to bring the machine into an operational state:

- Refuelling must always be carried out in well-ventilated areas; smoking is prohibited during this process. The fuel is highly flammable and must therefore be stored in a suitable container for this purpose;

- Ensure that all nuts and bolts are properly tightened;

- Start the engine outdoors. The machine must not be lifted while the engine is starting;

- Set the cutting height as required.

SABO 60-PRO F Vario - USE OF THE MACHINE - 1

DANGER

SABO 60-PRO F Vario - DANGER - 1

It is absolutely forbidden to use the machine on surfaces with gravel, stones or other hard and exposed objects that can be thrown around when the rotor is in operation.

Note: The levers (1) and (3) (see figure 10) also serve as an emergency stop; if you release the levers, the movement of the machine and the tool is stopped immediately (motor remains switched on).

SABO 60-PRO F Vario - DANGER - 2

DANGER

SABO 60-PRO F Vario - DANGER - 1

Always stop the engine before carrying out any maintenance or tool adjustment work.

4.4. STOPPING THE ENGINE

a. Set the motor to the lowest speed using the throttle lever (Fig. 14 (2)).
b. Set the start switch (1) to "OFF."
C. Close the fuel tap (if installed) if the machine will not be used for a longer period of time.

5. MAINTENANCE

  • Only original spare parts may be used for maintenance and/or overhaul in order to ensure maximum product reliability.
  • When ordering spare parts, you must always state the serial number of the machine and the code of the part to be replaced.
    Contact our customer service for extraordinary maintenance work if components that are not consumable parts need to be replaced or repaired. Consumable parts include, among others: Oil, filters, flail-type cutting tools, belts, etc.

5.1. ENGINE

The instructions in the relevant operating and maintenance manual must be followed.

The oil should be changed after the first 50 operating hours (Fig. 15):

a. Remove the left-hand wheel;
b. Remove the machine components until you reach the cover;
c. Pull out the oil refill cap (1);
d. Remove the drain cover (2) from the lower part of the gearbox housing and drain the oil; reassemble the cover (2) at the end;
e. Top up with 0.9 litres of new Eni Rotra MP SAE 80W-90 using a filler funnel with extension; the filler hole also serves as a level indicator.
f. Wait for the excess oil to drain and refit the cover (1).

EN

a. Check the oil level in the gearbox housing by loosening the screw (2) (Fig. 15). Top up with oil and allow the excess oil to drain out. Finally, reassemble the cover. NOTE: The oil check must be carried out when the engine is cold and on a level surface.
b. Lubricate the points indicated in Figure 16.
c. Check the gearbox and adjust if necessary:

- The cover (1) of the gearbox must not have any play (Fig. 17) when the lever (1) (Fig. 10) is moved. The bowden cable could elongate over time. Use the adjusting screw (2) to eliminate the resulting play.

SABO 60-PRO F Vario - EN - 1

ATTENTION

SABO 60-PRO F Vario - ATTENTION - 1

If you reduce the play too much during adjustment, the braking behaviour of the machine will be reduced.

• The cables of the levers (9) and (11) (Fig. 10) must be adjusted so that the levers themselves release the wheels at half stroke (Fig. 18 position b).
- The cable of the drive control lever (Fig. 10 (3)) must be adjusted using the adjusting screw if the machine has difficulty moving forwards. Loosen the adjusting device to restore the tension on the cable and lock the adjusting device using the lock nut;
• The cable of the working tool control lever (1) (Fig. 10) must be adjusted using the adjusting screw (1) (Fig. 19).
To obtain the correct tension, you must unhook the brake in position B (Fig. 20). Hold the lever (1) (Fig. 10) against the adjustment knob. Check by pressing with your finger that the belt allows a deflection of 10 mm (see Fig. 20 pos. A).
To reposition the brake rod, keep the lever (1) (Fig. 10) pressed against the guide bar. Hold the brake pad C (Fig. 20) tightly against the pulley with one hand. In this position, the hole in the fork (point B Fig. 20) must be level with the hole in the tension roller lever. If necessary, the alignment is carried out by loosening / tightening the fork on the threaded rod. Insert the clip pin and release the lever on the guide bar.

Change the oil in the gearbox according to the instructions in the "Run-in" section.

6. WASTE DISPOSAL

At the end of the technical and operational life of the machine, it must be rendered unusable, i.e. it can no longer be used for the purposes for which it was designed and built. In the event of disposal, you must comply with the applicable environmental protection regulations and take the machine to a local collection centre. For more information, contact the local authorities or the nearest collection centre.

SABO-Maschinenfabrik GmbH accepts no liability for damage to persons, animals or property caused by the reuse of individual parts of the machine for functions or assembly other than originally intended.

7. GUARANTEE

Only the enclosed, current SABO guarantee conditions apply.
