Unpacking the Appliance

  1. Remove the appliance from its packaging.
  2. Remove all packaging material, such as foils, filling material, cable ties and cardboard packaging.
  3. Check the scope of delivery for completeness.
  4. If the contents of the packaging are incomplete or if damage can be detected, do not operate the appliance. Return it to the dealer immediately.

  • Only touch the appliance by the handles during operation.
  • Only transport the appliance when it has cooled down completely. Always carry it by the carrying handles (6).

  • The thermostat starts heating as soon as it is switched on with the temperature control knob. Always insert the thermostat into the appliance's connection socket first before inserting the mains plug into the socket and setting a temperature using the control knob.
  • Do not remove the thermostat from the connection socket until the appliance has cooled down. The temperature sensor is still very hot after use!

  • Only use the appliance outdoors in absolutely dry weather. Do not leave the appliance outdoors after use.

  • The appliance may only be operated with the thermostat supplied.
  • Keep the temperature sensor and the metal pins of the socket clean.
  • Do not use aluminium trays.
  • Do not place aluminium foil on the grill plate.
  • If used as a table-top appliance, place on a level, heat-resistant surface.
  • Keep a safe distance from easily flammable objects or furniture.
  • Do not use the appliance near explosive or flammable materials.
  • Do not move the appliance during operation.
  • Do not use grill tongs or similar metal tools to turn the food. This could damage the coating of the grill plate. Use wooden or Teflon tools.

Connected Load

The appliance has a total power consumption of 2400 W. With this connected load, a separate supply line with a 16 A household circuit breaker is recommended.

CAUTION: Overload!

  • If an extension lead is used, it should have a cable cross-section of at least 1.5 ~mm^2 .
  • Do not use a multiple socket as this appliance is too powerful.

Assembly

The appliance can be used as a freestanding or table-top appliance. Please refer to the illustrations on pages 3 and 4.

  1. Attach the five feet (12) to the base (13) and fold up the feet (see illustration A).
  2. Place the intermediate ring on the lower standpipe and screw it to the upper standpipe (see illustration B).
  3. Use the two fastening screws to attach the rear support (see illustration C).
  4. Insert the lower support tube into the opening of the mounted stand.
  5. Screw the wing screw (14) into one of the two screw holes (9) on the upper support tube.

  6. Slide the storage rack onto the standpipe. The bulge on the storage rack must rest on the wing screw.

  7. Place the barbecue housing on the standpipe.
  8. Slide the grease drip tray into the barbecue housing until you hear it click into place (see illustration D).
  9. Insert the grill plate (4) into the barbecue housing (7) (see illustration E).

- To do this, hold the grill plate with both hands and insert it into the barbecue housing with the ribbed side facing to the right.

- Lower the grill plate slightly on the left-hand side and push the connection socket for the thermostat (18) into the opening for the thermostat connection.

- Then lower the right-hand side of the grill plate. Slide the grill plate to the left until it is properly seated in the barbecue housing.

  1. Place the metal lid (1) on the barbecue housing (7) (see illustration F).

  2. To do this, the two metal hooks (19) must be inserted into the two brackets on the barbecue housing.

  3. Close the metal lid.

  4. Push the heating element (17) through the opening into the connection socket (18) as far as it will go (see illustration G).

  5. The rotary control must point upwards.

  6. Ensure that the metal pins engage correctly in the holes provided.

CAUTION:

If the heating element is not inserted correctly, excessive heating may occur. Damage or accidents may result. Therefore, make sure that the heating element is inserted correctly.

- When inserting the heating element, make sure that you do not accidentally press the lever to unlock the heating element. Otherwise the heating element cannot be inserted correctly.

  1. Check the stability.

  2. Only transport the assembled appliance by the stand-pipe.

  3. If you carry the appliance by the handles (6), lift it off the standpipe. The appliance can then be used as a table-top appliance.

Electrical Connection

  1. Ensure that the voltage of the appliance (see rating plate) matches the mains voltage.
  2. Only connect the mains plug to a correctly installed earthed socket.
  3. Use a socket outlet that is easily accessible.
  4. Ensure that the mains cable cannot come into contact with hot parts of the appliance.

Before Using the Appliance for the First Time

Before using the appliance for the first time, operate it for 15 minutes without food. This removes the protective coating on the heating coil. A slight amount of smoke is normal during this process. Ensure adequate ventilation.

  1. Insert the mains plug into an easily accessible socket.
  2. Turn the temperature control knob on the thermostat clockwise until it is set to the highest level (MAX).
  3. After 15 minutes have elapsed, turn the temperature control knob anti-clockwise to the OFF position.
  4. Disconnect the mains plug from the socket and wait until the appliance has cooled down completely. Do not remove the thermostat from the connection socket until the appliance has cooled down. The temperature sensor is still very hot after use. Clean the appliance as described in the "Cleaning" chapter.

Your appliance is now ready for use.

Notes for Use

  • You can prepare your food with the metal lid open or closed. If you close the metal lid, the grill reaches a higher temperature and the cooking time is reduced.
  • The grill plate (4) is divided into two surfaces.

- The smooth surface is particularly suitable for frying, as it offers the largest possible contact surface with the food.

- The ribbed surface is suitable for grilling. It can be used to give the food a grill pattern. The ribbing also reduces the fat content during cooking.

- The control lamp 🔒 lights up during the heating phase.

- Once the set temperature has been reached, the control lamp goes out.

Using the Appliance

  1. Make sure that the grease drip tray is inserted into the barbecue housing.
  2. Insert the mains plug into an easily accessible socket.
  3. Close the metal lid and set the desired temperature on the thermostat.

  1. Open the metal lid and place the food directly on the grill plate.
  2. Close the metal lid if necessary.
  3. Turn the food from time to time.
  4. Remove the food from the grill plate as soon as it is cooked.
  5. Switch off the appliance after use.

Ending Operation

  1. Turn the temperature control knob anti-clockwise as far as it will go.
  2. Then pull the mains plug out of the socket.
  3. Do not remove the thermostat from the connection socket until the appliance has cooled down. The temperature sensor is still very hot after use.
  4. Clean the appliance as described in the "Cleaning" chapter.

Cleaning

WARNING:

  • Always disconnect the mains plug from the socket before cleaning. Wait until the appliance has cooled down.
  • Never immerse the heating element with thermostat in water for cleaning. This could lead to an electric shock or fire.
  • Do not reassemble the appliance until all parts are completely dry!

  • Do not use a wire brush or other abrasive objects.
  • Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents.

Cleaning the Grill Plate

  1. Pull the thermostat out of the connection socket. To do this, press the lever on the thermostat so that it can be pulled out easily.
  2. Lift the grill plate out of the barbecue housing. Lift the grill plate slightly on the right-hand side and pull it out slightly to the top right.
  3. First remove the coarsest residues with kitchen paper or similar.
  4. Clean the grill plate with a little washing-up liquid in warm water. You can remove heavier soiling with a nylon brush.
  5. Rinse with clear water. Then dry the grill plate thoroughly.
  6. Do not use again until it is completely dry.

Cleaning the Grease Drip Tray

  1. Carefully pull the grease drip tray out of the barbecue housing. Make sure that nothing is spilt into the barbecue housing.
  2. Dispose of the grease. If necessary, wipe out the grease drip tray with a piece of kitchen paper.
  3. Clean the grease drip tray with a little washing-up liquid in warm water.
  4. Rinse the grease drip tray with clean water. Dry it carefully before refitting it.

Cleaning the Metal Lid

  1. To clean the inside, first use kitchen paper or similar to remove the coarsest food residues.
  2. If necessary, you can remove the metal lid completely. To do this, open the metal lid and pull it slightly upwards to lift the metal hooks on the hinges out of the holders.
  3. To reinsert the metal lid after cleaning, proceed as described in the chapter "Assembly point 10.".
  4. Then clean the inside and outside of the metal lid with a cloth or sponge moistened with washing-up liquid and warm water.
  5. Wipe with a clean cloth and clear water. Then dry the metal lid thoroughly.

CAUTION:

When cleaning the thermostat, make sure that no moisture gets into the inside of the thermostat.

  1. You can wipe these parts with a slightly damp dishcloth. Use a little washing-up liquid if necessary.
  2. Then dry all parts thoroughly.

Storage

  • Clean the appliance as described and allow it to dry completely.
    • We recommend storing the appliance in its original packaging if you do not intend to use it for a longer period of time.
    • Always store the appliance out of the reach of children in a well-ventilated and dry place.
