General Safety Instructions

Read the operating instructions carefully before putting the appliance into operation and keep the instructions including the warranty, the receipt and, if possible, the box with the internal packing. If you give this device to other people, please also pass on the operating instructions.

  • The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not fit for commercial use. Do not use it outdoors. Keep it away from sources of heat, direct sunlight, humidity (never dip it into any liquid) and sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or wet, unplug it immediately.
  • When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the appliance and always pull out the plug from the socket (pull the plug itself, not the lead) if the appliance is not being used and remove the attached accessories.
  • Do not operate the machine without supervision. If you leave the room you should always turn the device off. Remove the plug from the socket.

CAUTION: Fire hazard!

Oil and fat can burn when overheated. Keep sufficient safe distance (30 cm) to inflammable objects such as furniture, curtains, etc.

  • Place the appliance on a level, water and heat-resistant surface. The surface should be easy to clean as spattering is unavoidable. If resting on a sensitive surface, place a heat-resistant plate beneath it.
  • Due to rising heat and vapors do not place the appliance under wall cupboards.
  • Do not move the appliance during operation.
  • Ensure that the mains cord does not touch hot parts of the appliance during operation.
  • Do not touch hot parts of the appliance.
  • Do not operate the appliance with an external timer or separate remote control system.

  • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

This appliance is intended for indoor barbecues.

It is intended for the use in private households and similar applications. The appliance is only to be used as described in the user manual. Do not use the appliance for any other purpose.

Any other use is not intended and can result in damages or personal injuries.

Unpacking the appliance

  • Remove the appliance from its packaging.
  • Remove all packaging materials such as films, filler material, cable clips and carton.
  • Check the contents for completeness.
  • Check the appliance for possible transport damage to prevent hazards.

- Do not operate the appliance if package contents is incomplete or appear damaged. Return it immediately to the dealer.

i NOTE:

Production residue or dust may have collected on the appliance. We recommend cleaning the appliance according to chapter "Cleaning".

Instructions

△ CAUTION: Avoid damage to the non-stick coated grill surfaces!

  • Only use wooden or Teflon spatula.
  • Do not use pointed objects (e.g. knife, fork) on the grill surface.
  • Do not use plastic utensils. They can melt.

  • The top grill plate is fitted with a compensating joint. This enables the optimal contact of the top grill plate with the food.

  • The top grill plate can also be folded up by 180°. By doing so, you get double the grill surface and you can use the appliance as a table grill.
  • The non-stick coated grill surfaces enable dishes to be prepared without the use of fat.
  • If you want to use oil ensure that it is highly heatable, such as sunflower oil. Do not use olive oil or butter, since they start smoking already at low temperatures.
  • A beep will sound when the power cord is connected to the mains.
  • A beep will sound whenever a button is pressed.
  • The appliance has two control panels through which the functions of the lower and the upper grill plates can be set separately.
    • The display shows you the settings.
  • If no setting has been made on the control panel for 2 hours, the appliance will turn off automatically.

Switching On/Off

- The ⏻ button turns the appliance on and off.

  • The power indicator light (8) indicates that the power is on.
  • The display will show "000 000" in the top line after being switched on.
  • After switching off with the ⏻ button, the display and the power indicator light will go out.
  • Timer function: After the heating elements have automatically turned off and the display shows the setting "000 000", the appliance will still be operational.

Electrical connection

Power rating

The appliance can consume 2000 W of power in total. At this power rating, we recommend a separate connection with fuse protection via a 16 A domestic circuit breaker.

CAUTION: Overload

Do not use any extension cords or multiple sockets as this appliance is too powerful.

Connection

  • Before you plug the power plug into the power outlet, ensure that the mains voltage corresponds with that of the appliance. You can find information about this on the rating plate.
  • Only connect the appliance to a properly installed earthed socket.

Before initial use

  1. Clean the grill plates as described under "Cleaning". Re-insert the grill plates.
  2. Close the contact grill. Insert the fat collection tray (5) on the back of the grill.
  3. Operate the appliance with the closed grill plates for about 10 minutes without any food (see "Operation"). To do so, set the temperature of both plates to 220°C.

i NOTE:

This process normally produces a small amount of smoke. Ensure adequate ventilation.

  1. Turn the appliance off and disconnect the power plug.
  2. Let the appliance cool down completely.
  3. Wipe the grill surfaces with a damp cloth.
  4. Repeat this process with the two other grill plates included with the appliance.

Your appliance is now ready to use.

Replacing the grill plates

WARNING: Risk of burns!

  • Turn off the appliance and disconnect the mains plug.
  • Wait until the grill plates have completely cooled down!

Removing grill plates

  1. Press on the correct release button RELEASE (3 or 7).
  2. Pull the grill plates slightly forward, or up. Remove them from the appliance.

Inserting the grill plates

You will find the following allocation on the bottom of the grill plates:

  1. Slide the recesses on the grill plates into the mounting brackets on the appliance.
  2. Press the RELEASE button with one hand, and simultaneously press the respective grill plate into the housing with the other hand.
  3. Ensure that the grill plates are firmly in place.

Operation

Choose whether you want to work with a closed contact grill or with a folded open table grill.

Use as a contact grill

  1. Turn the appliance on. The power indicator light will come on. The display shows "000 000".

  2. Set the temperature for the lower and/or upper grill plate with the + / buttons. You can select the following temperatures:

150^ 180^ 200^ 220^

The top row of the display shows you which temperature you have set for which grill plate.

i NOTE:

  • The temperature will flash on the display during the heating phase.
  • You will hear two beeps when the set temperature has been reached. The temperature is continuously shown on the display.
  • The set temperature is controlled and maintained during the operation.

  • Open the appliance with the handle. Position the top grill plate vertically.

  • Place the food onto the bottom grill plate.
  • Slowly close the top grill plate. You do not have to flip the food.
  • When your food is ready according to your taste, open the device with the handle.

  1. Remove the grilled food with a spatula or a turner made from wood or Teflon.

Use as a table grill

  1. Press the PUSH HERE (4) switch while opening the grill plate by the handle.
  2. Operate the appliance as previously described (without points 3, 5, and 6).
  3. Prepare your dishes like on any other grill. Turn over the food as required.

Timer Function

  • After setting the temperature, you can select a shut-off time separately for each grill plate with the ⏻ button. On the bottom row the display shows you which time you have set for which grill plate.
  • The time will increase by 1 minute with each push of a button. You can set a maximum of

60 minutes per grill plate. The set time cannot be reduced using this button. If you want to reduce the time, turn the appliance off and pull the plug out of the socket. Replace the plug and start again.

- After the time has elapsed, the heating elements of the grill plate that you operated using the timer function will turn off automatically. This is acknowledged by two beeps. The temperature indicator on the display for the relevant grill plate is set to "000".

Grilling duration

The grilling duration depends on the consistency and the thickness of the food. Two examples are listed here as a guideline:

NOTE:

The core temperature of the food will indicate when it is done. We recommend the use of a roasting thermometer. The core temperature of the meat can be monitored with it. You therefore do not need to cut open the food.

  1. Turn the appliance off with the ⏻ button.
  2. Disconnect from mains power supply.
  3. Allow the appliance to cool before you clean it.

Cleaning

WARNING:

  • Disconnect from mains power supply before cleaning.
  • Do not submerge the appliance in water! This may lead to electric shock or fire.
  • Ensure that no liquid gets inside the appliance!

CAUTION:

  • Do not use a wire brush or other abrasive utensils for cleaning.
  • Do not use aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents.

Removing grill plates

WARNING: Risk of burns!

Wait until the grill plates are completely cooled!

  1. Push down on the correct release button RELEASE (3 or 7).
  2. Pull the grill plates a short way forward or upward. Remove them from the appliance.
  3. Clean the grill plates in a bowl of hot water while adding a mild dishwashing liquid. If necessary, use a nylon brush. Rinse with clean water.
  4. Dry the grill plates well.
  5. If necessary, wipe the surfaces below the grill plates with a damp cloth.
  6. Let the surface dry completely before you re-insert the grill plates.

Re-inserting the grill plates

You will find the following allocation on the bottom of the grill plates:

Clean the casing after use with a slightly damp cloth.

Storage

  • Only store the appliance clean and after it has cooled down.
  • During longer periods of non-use we recommend storing the appliance in its original packaging.
    • Always store the appliance in a well-ventilated and dry place out of reach of children.

Troubleshooting
