Safety Instructions
Please read these instructions carefully before installing and using the Urban Arrow Luggage Carrier Essential.
The Luggage Carrier Essential is suitable for all UA4.X bicycles, which can be recognised by its distinct rear frame design, as indicated on the cover illustration of this manual.
- When the Luggage Carrier Essential is mounted on the Urban Arrow Anniversary Model in combination with the Supernova Rear Light, additional parts are required. These parts and their installation instructions can be ordered from Urban Arrow by referring to the following article number and description: UA02-0136 - Service package Luggage Carrier Essential // Anniversary Bike.
The Luggage Carrier Essential is tested and approved according to ISO 11243 with 30KG and EN14344 with 30KG.
The Luggage Carrier Essential is tested and approved for the MIK HD adapter combination with the Urban Iki and the Thule Yepp Nexxt Maxi rear seats.
For the proper installation of products with a MIK HD interface, please refer to the instructions supplied with the product concerned.
Before installing a rear seat onto the Luggage Carrier Essential, always check the saddle's height. Rear seats installed too high may cause sitting problems or damage to the saddle.
The connections of the Luggage Carrier Essential shall be checked before every use, especially when using a rear seat.
Make sure that bags don't have loose straps that can get caught in the wheel.
Make sure that reflectors and lamps are not obscured by any luggage.
In the event of a defect, such as a crack or inflexion, we recommend that you contact your dealer. Do not continue driving if the carrier is defective.
If the Luggage Carrier Essential or any of its important parts are bent or broken, replace all the parts.
- Do not let children climb onto the Luggage Carrier Essential. Make sure that they are always supervised by a person responsible for their safety.
Make sure that the Luggage Carrier Essential is unloaded during storage.
- Never exceed the maximum load capacity of the Luggage Carrier Essential.
The Luggage Carrier Essential is not designed to pull a trailer.
Installation
Recommended tools:
- 8mm spanner or ratchet wrench
- Small slotted screwdriver
4mm Allen key - Tape
- Inner cable
- Locking compound (medium strength, e.g. Loctite 243)
Check if the packaging contains the following components:
Carrier (1)
M5x20 flange bolt, hexagonal (2)
M5 Fender washer (4)

While installing the carrier, keep these bicycle parts for later use:
M5x16mm Allen hex bolt (2)

To install the Luggage Carrier Essential:
- Check whether mudguard stays ⑧ are fitted on the inside of the frame ⑨ . If not, disconnect and mount them on the inside. ① NOTICE Secure the bolts with a locking compound (e.g. Loctite 243).
- Use the 8mm spanner or ratchet wrench to dismount the Plateo rear light ⑥ from its bracket. ② NOTICE Make sure the wire ends don't fall out.
- Use a small slotted screwdriver to pull out the connector from the Plateo rear light ①. ③ NOTICE Remove the battery from the battery holder before you start the installation.
- Use the Allen key to dismount the bracket. ④ NOTICE Keep the bolts and washers for later use. The bracket is not required for mounting the carrier; please discard it accordingly.
- Pull the light cable from the frame © as far as needed. ⑤
- Remove the plug from the rear light and disconnect the red and black wire. ⑥ Notice Keep the plug for later use.
- Attach the Plateo rear light to the carrier using the original washers and cap nuts.
- Push the inner cable through the opening in the carrier 4 near the light bracket towards the front. Firmly attach the light cable with tape to the end of the inner cable. 7
- Pull the light cable through the carrier (A) until it comes out from the rear. Detach the inner cable from the light cable and remove the tape. (B)
- Put the red and black wires through the connector and fold back the tinned ends. Position the red wire at the round side of the connector. Position the black wire at the rectangular side of the connector. ⑨
- Attach the connector to the Plateo rear light ⑨. ⑩
- Replace the battery and check if the Plateo rear light is working.
Warranty

- Attach the front of the carrier to the frame by reusing the bolts from step 4, and the supplied M5 fender washers. NOTICE Secure the bolts with a locking compound.
- Attach the base of the carrier A to the frame © by using the M5 x 20 flange bolts and M5 fender washers. NOTICE Secure the bolts with a locking compound.
- Put the excess length of light cable back through the carrier ⑧, through the grommet, into the frame ⑨. Push the grommet into place when the desired length is reached. ⑩
NOTICE To uninstall the Luggage Carrier Essential, follow all steps and their instructions in reversed order.
Please handle this product with appropriate care. Contact your Urban Arrow partner before returning the product. The warranty covers 24 months from the date of purchase. The defective product must be sent to the manufacturer within 2 weeks.
The warranty will be void in the following cases:
External force;
- Lack of care;
- Failure to comply with safety instructions;
- Discoloration caused by UV radiation;
- Scratches, indentations, and loosening of the painting caused by normal usage;
- Unauthorised modifications to the Luggage Carrier Essential or its components;
- The Luggage Carrier Essential is not mounted by an authorised Urban Arrow bicycle dealer.
