2. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
2.1 General
Before you start mounting the device please read the operating instructions carefully.
The installation shall be performed by qualified personnel.
Packaging material is not a children's toy. Keep it away from children!
Do not open the device. It does not contain parts you have to maintain.
2.2 Ambient conditions
The standards used to assess the product specify limit values for use in the living area, business area and in small enterprises; the product has been intended for use in the following operating environments:
Residential buildings/living areas such as houses, flats, rooms, etc. selling areas such as • shops, wholesale markets, etc.
Premises of small enterprises such as workshops, service centers, etc.
All areas of application characterize themselves by a connection to the public low voltage • mains.
3. APPROPRIATE USE
The SHT 5002 water detector is designed for level control (2-point controller). An upper and lower level are defined by two water sensors or a float switch and can be used to automatically fill or empty a container.
The SHT 5002 water detector also has another sensor input for a water detector with a potential-free relay contact. This makes it possible to determine the water level independent from the current level control.
Examples of use:
Overflow warning in the event of pump failure ▶
Dry running warning to protect the pump ▶
Water level report
4. ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS AND CONFIGURATION

A qualified technician must install the device.
4.1 Installing the sensor
The SHT 5006 water detector (art. no.: 300745) responds to contact with water via two metal contacts (sensor circuit is closed). You can extend the sensor cable with a dual-core wire (2 x 0.5 mm ^4 ) up to 50 metres.
Use our mini float switches for non-conductive liquids:
Mini-float switch made of plastic (art. no. 200940)
Mini-float switch made of stainless steel (art. no. 200941)
4.2 Installation
The SHT 5002 water detector is installed on a 35 mm top-hat rail in a distributor, switch cabinet or wall-mounted housing.
Instead of 230 V AC operating voltage, you can also operate the SHT 5002 water detector with 12 – 16 V DC/0.5 A. Use the clamps 5 (+) and 6 (-) for this purpose.
4.3 Level control (2-point controller)
Sensor 1 determines the lower level and sensor 2 determines the upper level. The B1 jumper is used to define the switching behaviour of the K1 relay.

4.4 S3 sensor warning
With sensor 3, you can determine the water level independent of the level control in order to obtain e.g. the following warnings:
▶ Overflow warning in the event of pump failure (sensor 3 is installed over sensor 2)
▶ Dry running warning for the protection of the pump (sensor 3 is mounted under sensor 1) Water level report (sensor 3 is installed between sensor 1 and 2) ▶
4.4.1 Switching behaviour of the K2 relay
Water level below sensor 3 - K2 relay picked up
Water at sensor 3 - K2 relay dropped out
4.4.2 Configuration of the S3 sensor warning
You can define two different output messages for the S3 sensor input:
▶ S3 sensor warning with storage function: The warning persists or the K2 relay stays switched until a button is pushed to clear the warning.
▶ S3 sensor warning without storage function: The warning persists or the K2 relay stays switched until the sensor no longer reports water.
