Thank you for choosing the new sera Biotop LED Cube 130 XXL.

The newly developed LED cover with 12 powerful LED chips in modern SMD technology is 33% brighter than the aquarium covers with fluorescent tubes, whereas the power uptake is only half as high.

Besides saving energy you will also benefit from the long lifetime of the LED chips. Lamp replacement is no longer required every year, and even single LED units failing hardly affects brightness in the aquarium. The lighting can still be operated without any problems until the faulty LED unit has been replaced.

The new sera Biotop LED Cube 130 XXL of course provides the well proven 3 side view due to the bow front. This allows watching the aquarium inhabitants easily also in the sera Biotop LED Cube 130 XXL.

General notes

• Please read these instructions carefully and keep for future use. Also, please check your sera aquarium for completeness.
• Please switch off all submerged technical devices by pulling their mains plugs before touching the water with your hand.

The aquarium is optimally packed. However, damages due to long range transport may have occurred, as is the case with all glass products. Therefore please check whether the glass is in order before filling the aquarium for the first time.

Assembly and operation

First assemble the cabinet, if applicable (cabinet is not included). Please note the instructions included with the cabinet to do so.

Location:

Place the sera aquarium in a suitable location. Depending on the internal decoration, the aquarium may weigh up to 200 kg (441 lb.). Therefore, the chosen location should be perfectly even (best use a spirit level for balancing). Of course, a mains supply should be available nearby. If you have purchased the aquarium without a cabinet and wish to place it on an already existing piece of furniture, it must provide sufficient carrying capacity. The aquarium should by no means be placed near a sunny window. Too much sunlight does not only heat up the aquarium too strongly, but may also cause algae blooms. The sera Biotop LED Cube 130 XXL is equipped with a glued-on safety frame. Place the aquarium with its frame directly onto the cabinet. Do not use any additional mats.

Options:

• Lamps: The sera Biotop LED Cube 130 XXL is by default equipped with 12 white LED chips. The LED chips can be replaced separately. Please use only original sera spare parts.
  When keeping small blue fish, you may, for instance, replace two white LED chips with blue LED chips for enhancing the color.

SAFETY PRECAUTION

The aquarium may only be transported when empty.

Aquarium cover

Assembly of aquarium cover (2.1)

The sera LED cover is already pre-installed on the plastic frame of the aquarium. Power supply of the LED cover is achieved by an included ballast with an output voltage of 12 V DC.

Connecting the power supply (1.2)

Push the barrel connector of the ballast (1.2.3) into the connector socket of the LED cover cable.

The connectors must be laid out in the dry in a way that there is no tension on the connectors, thus preventing them from being accidentally disconnected.

Opening the aquarium cover and snapping it in (2.2)

The aquarium cover is installed on the back of the aquarium with two hinges. Open the cover until both support bars on the right and the left snap in if you wish to open the cover. The support bars now hold the cover in place. For closing the cover, hold it open with one hand. Slightly pull where the hinges are located using the other hand. The snap-in mechanism will then open. Now you can gently close the cover. Make sure that both support bars fold in towards the front.

Lighting in the aquarium cover (1.2)

You can change the LED units as you wish. The LED chips are placed in 6 rows with 2 LED chips each. The light switch (2.3.1) is located on the right side if you look on the front side (2.3).

Aeration

The LED cover is equipped with two fans for cooling the LED chips. Both fans are located on the side where the light switch is (2.3) . Both fans take up operation when the lighting is switched on. Check regularly whether both fans are running as to avoid overheating LED chips.

Replacing the LED units (1.4)

Take the LED cover off the aquarium (2.1) and place the LED cover on a soft, firm support. Now loosen all screws of the clear pane (1.4.1). Take the holder frame of the clear pane off. You can now remove the clear pane. Place the clear pane on a soft cloth as to protect it against scratches. All LED units have a separate fastening frame with a bayonet lock. Turn the fastening frame counterclockwise until the end (1.4.2), then pull it gently out of the lamp casing (1.4.3). The LED chip has two wire pins on the back side which are used to push the LED chip into the lamp socket. The LED chip is pulled vertically from the socket without rotating it (1.4.4).

Inserting the LED chips takes place in reversed order (1.4.5, 1.4.6).

4 chamber internal filter (1.5)

The filter system of the sera Biotop LED Cube 130 XXL is already firmly installed at the back of the aquarium. Please nevertheless check that all elements are firmly seated.

First chamber

The water flows into the filter system through the overflow grid located at the back right. For proper operation of the 4 chamber internal filter, the water level must always be 2 cm (0.8 in.) above the bottom edge of the overflow grid. Water must be topped up in case the water level is lower!

Lacking water makes the water surface inside the 4 chamber filter sink until the pump begins to run dry and does not agitate any water any more in case of continuing lack of water.

Two black filter sponges (1.5.1) are located in the first chamber.

Second chamber

The holder bracket for the sera heater is located in the second chamber. Take the sera heater out of its packaging and push it into the bracket from above (1.5.4). The water flowing along the heater will be heated to the target temperature (ideal: 25 – 28°C / 77 – 82°F).

The water then flows into the third chamber.

Third chamber

The biological filter medium sera siporax Professional is placed in filter media bags inside the biofilter chamber (1.5.2). sera siporax Professional does not only provide a scientifically proven ideal surface of 270 m ^2 /l (2,900 sq.ft. / US quart) medium but also includes a tunnel system present inside the filter medium that allows for permanent growth of filter bacteria. 1 liter (1 US quart) sera siporax Professional provides as much settling space for bacteria as, for instance, 34 liters (9 US gal.) of clay filter material.

Fourth chamber

The feed pump (1.5.3) is placed on the bottom. It generates water flow (agitation) in the entire system and pumps the water back into the aquarium via the stick-on flow distributor (1.6). The flow distributor is equipped with two flow nozzles that can be directed freely.

When everything is installed properly and functions well, you may start setting up the sera Biotop LED Cube 130 XXL. The sera guides provide detailed information about:

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

• The aquarium cover must only be used on a sera Biotop LED Cube 130 XXL.
• Before using the unit, please make sure that frequency and voltage of the mains supply comply with the frequency and voltage indicated on the type plate.
• Do not lift or carry electric devices by the mains cord.
• Pull all power/mains plugs before working with the cover or inside the aquarium.
• Immediately disconnect the cover from the power/mains supply in the event of damage to the cover or the power/mains cord. Do not operate!
• The aquarium cover must only be operated fully assembled.
• Pull the mains plug before replacing an LED chip.
• Slight color alteration caused by light irradiation (especially UV light) is normal. Do not place in direct sunlight.

Warning

1. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
2. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
3. If the supply cord is damaged, the pump is not longer allowed to be used and should be discarded.

Disposal of the unit:

Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) must not get into domestic waste!

If ever the unit cannot be used anymore, the consumer is legally obliged to hand in waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) separately from domestic waste, e.g. at a collection point of his community/his district. This ensures that waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is expertly processed and that negative effects to the environment are avoided.

Manufacturer warranty:

When following the directions for use, the sera Biotop LED Cube 130 XXL aquarium cover will perform reliably. We are liable for the freedom from faults of our products for 2 years beginning with the purchase date.

We are liable for complete flawlessness at delivery. Should usual wear and tear occur by use as intended by us, this is not considered a defect. Warranty claims are also excluded in this case. This in particular refers to the LED chips and the ballast. Legal claims are of course not reduced or limited by this warranty.

Recommendation:

In every case of a defect, please first consult the specialized retailer where you purchased the unit. He will be able to judge whether it is actually a warranty case. In case of sending the unit to us we will unnecessarily have to charge you for occurring costs.

Any liability because of contract breach is limited to intent or gross negligence. sera will be liable in case of slight negligence only in case of injuries to life, body and health, in case of essential contractual obligations and with binding liability according to the product liability code. In that case, the extent of liability is limited to the replacement of contractually typically foreseeable damages. Damages of the pump in the fourth chamber caused by operation with insufficient water level are not covered by warranty.

Filtrirni sistem v akvariju sera Biotop LED Cube 130 XXL je čvrsto pritrjen na zadnji strani akvarija. Kljub temu pa morate preveriti, ali so vsi deli pravilno postavljeni.

Voda teče preko pretočne mreže na desno zadnjo stran v filtracijo. Gladina vode v akvariju sera Biotop LED Cube 130 XXL mora biti, zaradi pravilnega obratovanja notranje-ga filtra s štirimi komorami, vedno dva centimetra nad spodnjim robom rešetke za pretok vode.

Če je višina vode v akvariju prenizka, jo morate doliti!
