1. Introduction

2. Safety Instructions

- This device can be used by children aged from 8 years and above, and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the device in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
- Indoor use only. Keep this device away from rain, moisture, splashing and dripping liquids. Never put objects filled with liquids on top of or close to the device.
- Do not disassemble or open the cover under any circumstances. Touching live wires can cause life-threatening electroshocks. There are no user-serviceable parts inside the device. Refer to an authorized dealer for service and/or spare parts.
- Always connect the device to an earthed power socket.
- The device heats up during use. Make sure the ventilation openings are clear at all times. For sufficient air circulation, leave at least 1" (± 2.5 cm) in front of the openings.
- Place the device on a flat, heat-resistant surface. Do not place the device on flammable surfaces such as carpets, fabrics...
- Always disconnect mains power when the device is not in use, when servicing or maintenance activities are performed. Handle the power cord by the plug only.
- Keep this device away from dust and extreme temperatures.
- Protect this device from shocks and abuse. Avoid brute force when operating the device.
- Do not use the device when damage to housing or cables is noticed. Do not attempt to service the device yourself but contact an authorised dealer.
3. General Guidelines
Refer to the Velleman® Service and Quality Warranty on the last pages of this manual.
- Familiarise yourself with the functions of the device before actually using it.
- All modifications of the device are forbidden for safety reasons. Damage caused by user modifications to the device is not covered by the warranty.
- Only use the device for its intended purpose. Using the device in an unauthorised way will void the warranty.
- Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not covered by the warranty and the dealer will not accept responsibility for any ensuing defects or problems.

5. Operation
5.1 Switching On and Off
- Connect the device to the mains using the included power cord.

WARNING
Always connect the device to an earthed power socket.

- Press the power button to switch on the device. At this moment, there is no output voltage or current on the output terminals.
- Press the power button to switch off the device after use.
5.2 Constant Voltage Mode
Set up the desired output voltage between 0 and 30 V.
Also, set up the desired current limit. If the output current exceeds the limit, the device automatically goes into constant current mode.
5.3 Constant Current Mode
Set up the desired output current between 0 and 5 A.
Also, set up the desired voltage limit.
5.4 Setting Voltage and Current
The device allows you to save three different settings using the memory keys M1, M2 and M3.
- Set the voltage value. Press the V/A button. The voltage readout flashes. Turn the adjustment knob until you reach the approximate desired voltage. Press the adjustment knob to select a digit in the voltage readout and turn to fine-tune.
- Set the current value. Press the V/A button. The current readout flashes. Turn the adjustment knob until you reach the approximate desired current. Press the adjustment knob to select a digit in the current readout and turn to fine-tune. If you enable the over-current protection, the output switches off automatically if the current exceeds this value.
- Press the memory save key. The readout will flash. Press the desired memory button to save.
5.5 Setting Recall
Press the corresponding memory key to recall a previously saved setting.

REMARK
The output is switched off automatically when pressing a memory button.

5.6 Using Memory 3
- Set the voltage and current as desired. Press memory button MEN and wait until the display starts flashing.
- Press button M3. Wait until the display stops flashing; the settings are automatically stored into the memory.
- To recall the settings, press button M3
5.7 Connecting a Load
- Connect the load's positive terminal to the positive terminal of the device.
- Connect the load's negative terminal to the negative terminal of the device.

REMARK
You can connect the positive or negative terminal to the ground terminal of the device to pin the voltage to 0 V (earth potential) at that terminal.

5.8 Applying Voltage to the Load

Press the on-off key to apply voltage to the load. The output and CV indicators light. The device works in constant voltage mode. The display shows the actual output voltage and current. If the current exceeds the set current limit, the device automatically goes into constant current mode. The CV indicator goes out and the CC indicator lights.

Press the on-off key to switch off the output.
5.9 Over-Current Protection
- To protect the device against over-current, set up the maximum current and the n press the OCP button.
- Switch on the output to apply output to the load. If the output current exceeds the set value, the device will cut off the output and the OCP indicator will flash.
- Disconnect the load. To recover, press the OCP button.
5.10 Remote Control via PC
- Install the software on your PC.
- Connect the device to your PC and switch it on. Note that the control buttons on the front panel are locked when the device is connected to a PC. You can only operate the device through the PC.
- Click the software to launch the software. The opening screen appears.
- Select the connected device number from the drop list and click

6. Cleaning and Maintenance
6.1 General

- Disconnect the device from the mains prior to maintenance activities.
- The power supply cables must not show any damage. Have a qualified technician maintain the device.
- Wipe the device regularly with a moist, lint-free cloth. Do not use alcohol or solvents.
- There are no user-serviceable parts, apart from the fuse. Contact your dealer for spare parts if necessary.
- Store the device in a dry, well-ventilated, dust-free room.
6.2 Replacing the Fuse
- Only replace the fuse by a fuse of the same type and rating.
- Before replacing the fuse, unplug the mains lead.
- Wedge the fuse holder out of its housing with a flat-head screwdriver.
- Remove the damaged fuse from its holder and replace with the exact same type of fuse.
- Insert the fuse holder back in its place and reconnect power.

Since its foundation in 1972, Velleman® acquired extensive experience in the electronics world and currently distributes its products in over 85 countries.
All our products fulfil strict quality requirements and legal stipulations in the EU. In order to ensure the quality, our products regularly go through an extra quality check, both by an internal quality department and by specialized external organisations. If, all precautionary measures notwithstanding, problems should occur, please make appeal to our warranty (see guarantee conditions).
General Warranty Conditions Concerning Consumer Products (for EU):
- All consumer products are subject to a 24-month warranty on production flaws and defective material as from the original date of purchase.
- Velleman® can decide to replace an article with an equivalent article, or to refund the retail value totally or partially when the complaint is valid and a free repair or replacement of the article is impossible, or if the expenses are out of proportion.
You will be delivered a replacing article or a refund at the value of 100% of the purchase price in case of a flaw occurred in the first year after the date of purchase and delivery, or a replacing article at 50% of the purchase price or a refund at the value of 50% of the retail value in case of a flaw occurred in the second year after the date of purchase and delivery.
• Not covered by warranty:
- all direct or indirect damage caused after delivery to the article (e.g. by oxidation, shocks, falls, dust, dirt, humidity...), and by the article, as well as its contents (e.g. data loss), compensation for loss of profits;
- consumable goods, parts or accessories that are subject to an aging process during normal use, such as batteries (rechargeable, non-rechargeable, built-in or replaceable), lamps, rubber parts, drive belts... (unlimited list);
- flaws resulting from fire, water damage, lightning, accident, natural disaster, etc....;
- flaws caused deliberately, negligently or resulting from improper handling, negligent maintenance, abusive use or use contrary to the manufacturer's instructions;
- damage caused by a commercial, professional or collective use of the article (the warranty validity will be reduced to six (6) months when the article is used professionally);
- damage resulting from an inappropriate packing and shipping of the article:
- all damage caused by modification, repair or alteration performed by a third party without written permission by Velleman®.
- Articles to be repaired must be delivered to your Velleman® dealer, solidly packed (preferably in the original packaging), and be completed with the original receipt of purchase and a clear flaw description.
- Hint: In order to save on cost and time, please reread the manual and check if the flaw is caused by obvious causes prior to presenting the article for repair. Note that returning a non-defective article can also involve handling costs.
• Repairs occurring after warranty expiration are subject to shipping costs.
- The above conditions are without prejudice to all commercial warranties.
