SPUK NACHT

Schmidt Die verdrehte Spuknacht - SPUK NACHT - 1

DREI

MAG/ER

It is a full moon, the clock strikes midnight.

The three magicians stand in amazement in front of the huge gates of the old castle, which have just opened as if by magic. "Shall we dare to go in and see if this place is really haunted?" Conrad asks a little frightened.

"Yes, together as a team we can do it!" answer Vicky and Mila in unison. But again the gates are creaking.

Will the three of them be able to explore the ancient rooms and find their way out in time before the haunted castle closes its gates again until the next full moon?

For one thing is certain: If ghosts are really up to

mischief here, they will do anything to stop our three curious magicians!

A Carefully push the cardboard pieces out of the punched boards. Place the ghost wheel in the box and the game board on top of it.
B To align the game board correctly, make sure that the large painting is hanging above the bed.
C In addition, the game board must click into place underneath the stairs in order to sit firmly in the box.

1 slate (to place the already achieved target chips)

Before every game

Take the rest of the game materials out of the box and place them in the middle of the table.

1 Take the closed gate.
On the back you can see the old lord of the castle who watches over the game. Put the gate in the corner with the red and black icon of the three magicians.
2 Keep the other gates ready next to the game board.
3 Place the three magicians and the three ghosts respectively on any of their start fields. Note: you only need the fourth ghost for the advanced version of the game!
4 Get the slate and the two dice ready.
5 Shuffle the ghost cards, place them face down in a stack and put it next to the slate.
6 Mix the face-down target chips. Place them in three stacks

next to the slate, sorted by colour, and reveal the top chip. These are the first destinations in the castle for the three magicians, with each chip colour assigned to one magician.

7 Have the back of this rule book ready as an overview of the target fields.

Aim of the game

Will the three magicians Vicky, Conrad and Mila manage to escape the haunted castle in time? To leave the haunted castle, each of them must reach and collect five target chips and then find an exit that is still open.

Move the three cautiously and avoid ghost contact, because even the slightest touch can cause a gate to snap shut, closing an exit forever.

Playing the game

Together, move the three magicians Vicky, Conrad and Mila through the haunted castle. The youngest player begins and the game continues in clockwise direction. When it is your turn, you throw both dice together. First, you move according to the blue magicians' die, then you do what the ghosts' die indicates.

Blue magicians' die:

Move any magician!

The points on the magicians' die indicate how many steps

Schmidt Die verdrehte Spuknacht - Move any magician! - 1

you can move with any magician. The following rules apply:

  • You may ignore die points when drawing, but the chosen magician must move at least one field.
  • You can move across fields with other magicians, but, at the end, only one magician can stand on each field. If you land on the same field as another magician, you can place your magician on the next free field.

• Watch out for the ghosts!

You must not move across fields that are touched by a ghost!

- Only a magician who has already collected all 5 target chips is allowed to leave the game board and enter the stairs.

Collecting target chips in the haunted castle

As soon as a magician has completed his current task (i.e. reached a target field), you can take the target chip and place it on the slate. You then immediately reveal a new chip for this magician, which shows his new target. Well done! Off you go the next destination!

Ghosts' die: Now the ghosts float through the castle!

Schmidt Die verdrehte Spuknacht - Ghosts' die: Now the ghosts float through the castle! - 1

The ghosts' die shows you how many times

you have to turn the ghost wheel in order to move the ghosts! When turning, make sure to move the wheel all the way from the beginning to the end of the notch.

The colour shows you in which direction you have to turn — either in the red or in the blue direction. The number of ghosts indicates how many times you turn the ghost wheel — once, twice or three times.

Turn the wheel slowly and carefully so that you can stop at any time. You must stop turning immediately, as soon as a ghost touches one of the magicians! In the next player's turn, he simply continues turning from this position.

Schmidt Die verdrehte Spuknacht - Ghosts' die: Now the ghosts float through the castle! - 2

natural_image Illustration of a cartoon underwater vehicle with arrows indicating flow, surrounded by plants and water (no text or symbols)

A ghost touches a magician

Stop turning the wheel immediately when a ghost touches a magician. Then reveal a ghost card from the face-down stack.

Now the following can happen:

Schmidt Die verdrehte Spuknacht - A ghost touches a magician - 3

Lucky you! Move the ghost-stricken magician two fields away from the ghost.

Schmidt Die verdrehte Spuknacht - A ghost touches a magician - 4

Blessing in disguise! Move the magician concerned away from the ghost by as many fields as the blue magicians' die currently is indicating (letting die points expire is allowed).

You can move away in any direction and now you can even move through the ghost. If you can reach a target chip, this is also allowed.

Schmidt Die verdrehte Spuknacht - A ghost touches a magician - 5

What a bad luck! Place one half of the indicated gate in the corresponding corner. The gate and its position in the corners are indicated by the respective crest. Then you move the magician away from the ghost (two fields or the number of die points).

Schmidt Die verdrehte Spuknacht - A ghost touches a magician - 6

Note: As soon as two matching gate halves are placed in one corner, this exit is completely locked. Unfortunately, the magicians can no longer leave the haunted castle using these stairs.

Schmidt Die verdrehte Spuknacht - A ghost touches a magician - 7

natural_image Cartoon character flying over a wooden treasure chest on a boat, with a red arrow and a shield icon highlighting the scene (no readable text or symbols)

The ghost card is then removed from the game.

In rare cases, two (or even three) ghost contacts occur at the same time. In this case, you must draw a separate ghost card for each magician concerned!

Leaving the haunted castle

If a magician has collected all five target chips of his colour, he is allowed to flee the haunted castle from now on. To leave the haunted castle, the magician must step from a starting field through a gate that is still open. He needs one die point for this. Now all that remains is for the other magicians to escape the ghosts...

End of the game

You win together,

if you have successfully placed all 15 target chips on the slate and were able to leave the haunted castle with the three magicians through the still open gates.

Congratulations! Well played!

You lose together,

as soon as the three ghosts have locked all the gates and there is no longer any escape route. Bad luck! It will definitely work at the next spooky night!

Expert version

Are you able to escape the ghosts without any problems? Then you're ready for the experts' game, in which a fourth ghost appears in the haunted castle to make your life difficult. Simply place the fourth ghost on the field of the slate, which is marked with a little ghost. As soon as you place the 8th target chip on the slate, take this ghost and place it on any of the three ghost starting fields. From now on you will have to escape four ghosts.
