3. General Guidelines
Refer to the Velleman Group NV® Service and Quality Warranty on the last pages of this manual.
- Familiarise yourself with the functions of the device before actually using it.
- All modifications of the device are forbidden.
- Only use the device for its intended purpose. Using the device in an unauthorised way will void the warranty.
4. Features and specifications
- suitable for: only for digital LED strips
- operating mode: turn on/off via 1 external switch or 2 switches via connection for two-way switch
- note: only works with switches, not via push buttons
- configuration modes: brightness, change modes (20 different modes), mode speed
5. Overview

- LED strip connection cable
- 2 white dotted cables. Connection to external switch or switches
- “+/speed” push button
- mode push button
- “-/slow” push button
- White cable connected to LED strip. Connect to 0VDC
- Red cable connected to LED strip. Connect to 12VDC
6. Operation
Only connect the controller to digital white LED strips which work with the SPI digital signal on 12V and 24V. The controller is developed to work with the WS2811 LED driver ICs.
Only use 1 power supply for the whole installation and connect ground (GND) connections.

6.1 Physical connection
- Connect the LED strip with the controller via the external dedicated connector.
• Red cable: 12V (or 24V)
- Green cable: Data signal
- White cable: 0V or GND

Connect an external constant voltage LED power supply to the external red and white cables from the LED strip.

Connect an external switch or switches via the 2 white dotted cables.
Refer to the illustrations on page 3 & 4 of this manual.
Warning: never connect the power supply to these wires! This will damage the controller.
- It is possible to extend the standard 5m digital white LED strip with more digital white LED strips.
Refer to the illustrations on page 5 of this manual.
Warning: Each 5 meter LED strip need power supply connections on both sides!
6.2 configuration
The installation and configuration need to be done before installing the controller behind the switch. The configuration can be done via the integrated push buttons on the backside of the controller.
Adjust operation mode:
This controller can control different types of digital LED strips. This setting can be changed via the following steps:
- Turn off the switch or switches.
- Press 2 seconds on “+/speed” push button.
A running light now starts with a certain pattern. With each press of the “+/speed” button, the pattern will change.
the patterns are:
• 1234 => selection for white color digital LED strips
• 1324
• 2134
• 3124

- Turn on the switch or switches to check the effect.
Adjust the number of pixel:
The number of pixels must be configured to get a nice and complete animation. This can be done via following steps:
- Turn off the switch or switches.
- Press 2 seconds on the mode button. The number of LEDs will be on. Now you can extend or shorten the number of LED's/pixels
- Extend: press “+/speed” push button
- Shorten: press “-/slow” push button
Confirm the selection by pressing short on the mode button.
Adjust intensity:
The light intensity can be adjusted during configuration via following steps:
- Turn off the switch or switches.

Press 2 seconds on “-/slow” push button.
You can configure the intensity based on the number of LEDs (1 to 10, where 1 = 10% and 10 = 100%) by pressing short on the “-/slow” push button. -
Turn on the switch or switches to check the intensity.
Adjust animations (modes):
The controller has 20 different animations. An animation can be selected once during configuration.
- Turn on the switch or switches.
- The first animation will be shown. Pressing the mode push button will change the animation.
There are 20 different animations. The 21st time you get back the first animation.

Adjust speed:
The animation speed can be configured once during installation.
Increase speed:
- Turn on the switch or switches.
- Press "+/speed" push button to increase the speed.
Decrease speed:
- Turn on the switch or switches.
- Press "-/slow" push button to decrease the speed.

In order to ensure the quality, our products regularly go through an extra quality check, both by an internal quality department and by specialized external organisations. If, all precautionary measures notwithstanding, problems should occur, please make appeal to our warranty (see guarantee conditions).
General Warranty Conditions Concerning Consumer Products (for EU):
- All consumer products are subject to a 24-month warranty on production flaws and defective material as from the original date of purchase.
- Velleman® can decide to replace an article with an equivalent article, or to refund the retail value totally or partially when the complaint is valid and a free repair or replacement of the article is impossible, or if the expenses are out of proportion.
You will be delivered a replacing article or a refund at the value of 100% of the purchase price in case of a flaw occurred in the first year after the date of purchase and delivery, or a replacing article at 50% of the purchase price or a refund at the value of 50% of the retail value in case of a flaw occurred in the second year after the date of purchase and delivery.
- Not covered by warranty:
- all direct or indirect damage caused after delivery to the article (e.g. by oxidation, shocks, falls, dust, dirt, humidity...), and by the article, as well as its contents (e.g. data loss), compensation for loss of profits;
- consumable goods, parts or accessories that are subject to an aging process during normal use, such as batteries (rechargeable, non-rechargeable, built-in or replaceable), lamps, rubber parts, drive belts... (unlimited list);
- flaws resulting from fire, water damage, lightning, accident, natural disaster, etc....;
- flaws caused deliberately, negligently or resulting from improper handling, negligent
maintenance, abusive use or use contrary to the manufacturer's instructions;
- damage caused by a commercial, professional or collective use of the article (the warranty validity will be reduced to six (6) months when the article is used professionally);
- damage resulting from an inappropriate packing and shipping of the article;
- all damage caused by modification, repair or alteration performed by a third party without written permission by Velleman®.
- Articles to be repaired must be delivered to your Velleman® dealer, solidly packed (preferably in the original packaging), and be completed with the original receipt of purchase and a clear flaw description.
- Hint: In order to save on cost and time, please reread the manual and check if the flaw is caused by obvious causes prior to presenting the article for repair. Note that returning a non-defective article can also involve handling costs.
- Repairs occurring after warranty expiration are subject to shipping costs.
- The above conditions are without prejudice to all commercial warranties.
