Contents4 5 English Manual Introduction Instructions for Use Congratulations on the purchase of your new “Daylight”. The product will offer many years of reliable usage if handled correctly. Please keep your receipt, these instructions and the original packaging safe in case of future require- ment. Please read the instructions carefully to gain the most benet from your new “Daylight”, although the usage guidelines in this document do not replace the advice of your qualied medical advisor. Intended Use: Medical intended use of this appliance is to treat the symptoms of SAD (sea- sonal affective disorder) or winter depression. “Daylight” is intended to boost people’s energy levels, to adjust circadian rhythms and make people feel more awake. “Daylight” is safe and medically proven to provide relief from the symp- toms of SAD. How does the “Daylight” work? In autumn and winter, the seasons with the least sunlight because of shorter days, the lack of sunlight and a problem with certain brain chemicals stops the hypothalamus working properly. The lack of light is thought to affect the production of the hormone melatonin (that makes you sleepy). “Daylight” uses bright lights to simulate the sunlight during the darker autumn and winter, whilst eliminating the dangerous UV rays contained in sunlight. The additional light helps your brain to reduce to production of hormone melatonin, adjust the levels of melatonin that can help the symptoms of SAD or winter depression. Seasonal Affective Disorder: Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) as known as winter depression or winter blues. It may cause people to:
- Feel low, listless or fatigued Less active than normal
- Have trouble concentrating Need for more sleep
- Lacking in energy Symptoms occur during the same season each year. Most people with SAD start to have symptoms during winter and feel better in summer.6 7 Contradiction: The following conditions may be contradiction for use of this appliance:
- suffer(ed) from severe depression
- recent eye surgery or a diagnosed eye condition whereby doctor has ad- vised you to avoid bright light on specic medication (i.e. certain antidepressants, psychotropic drugs or malaria tablets);
- have high blood pressure with vitreous hemorrhage;
- skin sensitive to light, such as systemic lupus erythematosus Always consult your doctor before your start using this appliance if you have any of the above conditions. Possible side effects: The following side effects you may experience:

- Increase the treatment distance
- Avoid using the appliance during the late evening or before sleep

- Before use, ensure that all packaging materials are removed and that there is no visible damage to the appliance or accessories. When in doubt, do not use the appliance and contact your dealer or the customer service address provided.

- If you are taking medication such as pain relievers, antihypertensives or antidepressants, consult your doctor before using this appliance.
- People with retinal diseases as well as diabetics need to be examined by an ophthalmologist before using this appliance.
- Please do not use if you have an eye disease such as cataracts, glaucoma, diseases of the optic nerve in general and inammation of the vitreous humour.

Warning: Use of this appliance adjacent to or stacked with other device
should be avoided because it could result in improper operation. If such use is necessary, this appliance and the other device should be observed to verify that they are operating normally. If the appliance does not light on or ickering, it means that the appliance is not operating normally.
Warning: Do not change any cable without authorization of the manufacturer.
Use of cables other than those specied or provided by the manufacturer of this appliance could result in increased electromagnetic emissions or de- creased electromagnetic immunity of this appliance and result in improper operation.

as antenna cables and external antennas) should be used no closer than 30 cm to any part of this appliance, including power cable. Otherwise, degrada- tion of the performance of this equipment could result. If the appliance does not light on or ickering due to the electromagnetic dis- turbances, do not use it and try to place the appliance in other location. For maintaining the basic safety and essential performance with regard to electromagnetic disturbances for the expected service life, please precaution to take if the use location is near (e.g. less than 1,5 km from) from AM, FM or TV broadcast antennas. Maintenance and Repairs
- Avoid exposing the screen to direct sunlight, spotlight or any other heat source.
- Do not use alcohol or ammonia base liquid to clean the screen.
- The cleaning information provided in the section “Cleaning”.
- Please do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself. This could result in serious injuries. Failure to observe this regulation shall void the warranty.
- If this appliance is damaged in any way or it is not working, it should not be operated. Please try to x the problem according to FAQ table. If the problem is still not resolved, please contact customer service or the dealer, since special tools are needed to make repairs. Never try to repair the appliance yourself. Unit Description Setup
1. Remove the appliance from the packaging.

E.g. for concrete wall, M4, 25mm long Stainless Steel Self-Tapping Screw which is screwed into a anchor. The screw and the anchor are not included in the scope of delivery.12 13 Operation Before use, please check the appliance for damage or faults. \If you notice any damage or faults on the appliance, do not use it and contact customer services or your supplier.
Press the ON/OFF button once of the appliance to turn on.
You can read, write, make telephone calls or work while you use the appliance. When using the appliance, try to maintain the recommended distance between your eyes and the appliance. Usage guidelines are as follows: Distance Duration 60 cm Approx. 2 Hours 40 cm Approx. 60 Minutes 20 cm Approx. 30 Minutes In effect, the closer you are to the source of light, the less time you need to use it. Note
- Do not look directly into the light continuously.
- Some eye pain or mild headaches may be experienced during initial sessions but these should pass. If in doubt just lower your treatment times until you feel comfortable again.
- Do not leave the appliance unattended in the duration.
- Do not touch the appliance in the duration. Let the appliance cool down for at least 15 minutes before repositioning it.
- Do not block vent holes in the duration.
Enjoying light over longer periods During the darkest period of the year, repeat the treatment for at least 7 consecutive days, or longer, depending on your individual requirements.
Press the ON/OFF button of the appliance to switch off the light. Pull the mains plug from the socket. Let the appliance cool down for at least 15 minutes before storing it away. Cleaning
- Do not touch the appliance with wet hands.
- Clean using a damp cloth, to which you can apply a little detergent if necessary.
- Do not let water run into the appliance or spill water onto the appliance.
- Cleaning can be done once per month. Storage When this appliance is not being used, it should be stored in a dry location out of reach of children. Do not keep the appliance connected to a power source. Follow the storage instructions provided in the section “Technical Specication”. Replacing the lamp tubes In the event that the lights are faulty, or when they come to end of their life, the two light tubes can be replaced. NOTE: Do not replace the lamp tubes which are not provided by the supplier. To do so, proceed as follows:
- Always unplug the appliance and let it cool off.
- For safety reasons, do not remove any components or screws other than those specied below. Warning Before you clean the appliance, always switch it off, unplug it and let it cool off.

ing a screwdriver, lay the apparatus on its back and remove the screen. Note The four brackets on the front of the screen will become loose when the screws are slackened. Take care not to lose them, or the screen cannot be retted correctly.
2. Cut the cable ties and bend the tube’s two
transparent retaining clips by pulling them gently upwards. Note Cable ties are used for transport protection only.14 15 Cleaning up a Broken Tube

instructions in reverse order. The light tubes contain a small amount of mercury sealed within the glass tubing, when a tube breaks in your home, some of this mercury is released as mercury vapor. To minimize exposure to mercury vapor, we recommend that users follow the cleanup and disposal steps as follows: Before Cleanup:
- Have people and pets leave the room and air out the room for 5-10 minutes by opening a window or door to the outdoor environment.
- Shut off the central forced air heating/ air-conditioning system, if you have one.
- Collect material needed to clean up broken tube, just like: stiff paper or cardboard, sticky tape, damp paper towels or disposable wet wipes. During Cleanup:
- Vacuuming is not recommended unless broken glass remains after all other cleanup steps have been taken. Vacuuming could spread mercury-containing powder or mercury vapor.
- Be thorough in collecting broken glass and visible powder.
- Place cleanup materials in a sealable container. After Cleanup:
- Promptly place all bulb debris and cleanup materials outdoors in a trash container or protected area until materials can be disposed of properly. Avoid leaving any bulb fragments or cleanup materials indoors.
- If practical, continue to air out the room where the bulb was broken and leave the heating/air conditioning system shut off for several hours.
