The first time the maker is heated a slight odour may develop.

This is entirely harmless. Ensure there us adequate ventilation.

Cooking crepes

  1. unwind the power cord completely and position it so that it cannot touch the appliance while you are cooking.
  2. insert the mains plug into a wall socket.
  3. move the temperature selection switch fully to the right to level 5 and switch the crepe maker on using the On/Off switch. The red indicator light lights up and the appliance heats up.

After approx. 4 minutes the green indicator light comes on.

The baking plate has reached the correct temperature for the level you have set.

  1. pour a small amount of crepe batter onto the baking plate and spread it with circular movements using the batter spreader.

Moisten the batter spreader before use. This prevents the dough from sticking to the spreader.

Pour slightly more batter onto the baking plate for practice when making your first crepes. It is easier to handle a slightly thicker crepe.

When you pour the batter onto the hot baking plate you might hear some slight crackling noised caused by differences in temperature and voltage. This does not damage the appliance.

The green indicator lamp goes on and off repeatedly during use. This indicates when the appliance is heating up in order to maintain the required temperature.

  1. Allow the crepe to cook until the surface is no longer liquid and the crepe can be moved slightly.

  2. Insert a crepe turner under a third of the crepe, lift the crepe and turn it.

  3. Leave the crepe to cook briefly until done. Lift it slightly with the crepe turner to check. The crepe should be visibly cooked though but not yet brown. Cooked in this way, it can be easily folded or rolled.

  4. Remove the crepe from the baking plate.

  5. If you wish to cook another crepe and the last crepe was too dark, move the temperature selection switch down slightly.

  6. If you do not wish to cook another crepe, switch the crepe maker off using the On/Off switch. Pull out the mains plug and leave the appliance to cool.

  7. Spread or fill the crepe according to taste and fold it or roll it. You will find two examples of how to fold it below.

Recipes

You will find a large number of books about crepe batter and fillings at bookshops. So that you can start straight away, we have provided a basic recipe that is suitable for both sweet and savoury fillings:

Pancake batter

For a dozen pancakes: 250g of flour

1/2 liter of milk

3 eggs

1 pinch of salt

Pour the flour and salt into a salad bowl. Make a depression in the centre.

Break the eggs in that, mix with a wooden spoon and keep on adding the milk, turning it all the time. Leave the batter to stand for an hour.

Switch on your pancake maker and heat it up. Now it's your turn...Enjoy!

Black wheat savoury pancake batter

savoury pancakes: 1kg of black wheat flour 3 eggs

1 glass of milk

Lukewarm water

1 pinch of salt

Pour the black wheat flour into a salad bowl. Make a depression in the centre. Break the eggs in that, mix with a wooden spoon and keep on adding the milk, turning it all the time, then add lukewarm water until you obtain a creamy batter of uniform consistency.

Leave the batter to stand for two or three hours. Switch on your pancake maker and heat it up. Now it's your tern...Enjoy!

Useful tips

- The consistency of the batter depends on the ratio of egg to liquid. Adding more liquid produces thinner crepes, and adding more egg produced thicker crepes.

- You can season the batter with sugar, spices or also a dash of beer. Vary the seasoning to suit the required fillings.

  • Be careful when adding sugar: If too much sugar is used the crepes may tear when handled. If you do not add sugar, the crepes will not stick to one another. The crepes can then be stacked one on top of another without the need for baking paper.
  • Also try making the batter with wholemeal flour. The batter will then be a little thicker.

CLEANING

CAUTION: Material damage

Never use abrasive cleaning agents, oven cleaners or materials that might scratch when cleaning.

  1. Unplug the mains plug from the wall socket and allow the crepe maker to cool.
  2. Wipe the appliance with a damp cloth.
  3. Let the appliance dry well before putting it away.
