6.2 Reception of the transmitter

  • The base station will scan the outdoor temperature and the reception symbol flashes.
  • If the reception is successful, the outdoor tempera- ture and the reception symbol appear steadily on the base station display.
  • If the reception of the temperature fails, “- -. -” remains on the display. Check the batteries and try it again. Wireless thermometer
  • You can also activate the reception manually. Hold the MAX/+ button on the base station for 5 seconds. The reception symbol for the transmitter will be flashing.
  • Press the TX button in the transmitter's battery com- partment. The transmission of the outdoor data takes place immediately and if the reception is suc- cessful, the outdoor temperature appears on the base station display.
  • If the transmitter signal is lost, the device automati- cally starts a transmitter search after 30 minutes.

6.3 Reception of the DCF frequency signal

  • After the reception of the transmitter, the clock will now scan the DCF frequency signal and the DCF reception symbol flashes on the display.
  • When the time code is successfully received after 3- 10 minutes, the radio-controlled time, the date and the DCF symbol will be shown steadily on the dis- play.
  • You can also activate the DCF reception manually. Press and hold the –/MIN button for 5 seconds. The DCF reception symbol flashes.
  • The DCF reception always takes place at 2:00 and 3:00 o'clock in the morning. If the signal is not successfully received, further attempts will be taken at 4:00 and 5:00 o'clock.
  • If the clock cannot detect the DCF-signal (e.g. due to interference, transmitting distance, etc.), the time can be set manually.
  • The clock will then work as a normal quartz clock (see: “Manual settings”). Note on radio-controlled time

The time is transmitted from an atomic clock near Frankfurt am Main by a DCF-77 (77.5 kHz) frequen- cy signal with a range of about 1,500 km. Your radio- controlled clock receives the signal, converts it and always shows the exact time. The adjustment of Daylight Saving Time and Standard Time is also automatic. • Avoid being close to possible sources of interference that may affect radio reception (see “Location and mounting”).
  • During night-time, the atmospheric interference is usually less severe. A single daily reception is ade- quate to keep the accuracy deviation under 1 second.
  • Press and hold the SET button for three seconds to enter the setting mode.
  • The first adjustable value flashes on the display.
  • Use the MAX/+ or –/MIN button to make the desired setting.
  • Confirm with the SET button and go to the next set- ting.
  • The sequence is shown as follows: – Ventilation alarm volume (On Lo / On Hi / OFF) (default: On Lo) – DCF reception On/OFF (default: dCF On) – Time zone -12/+12 (default: TZ 00) – Hour, minutes – Year, month, date
  • Press and hold the MAX/+ or –/MIN button in the respective setting mode for quick setting. The device will automatically quit the setting mode if no button is pressed for 20 seconds.

7.1.1 Volume setting for the ventilation alarm

  • In the setting mode, you can set the volume of the ventilation alarm in 2 levels (Lo / Hi) or switch it off (OFF) (see “Ventilation recommendation and alarm”).
  • By default, the DCF reception is activated (dCF On) and after successful reception of the DCF signal no manual time setting is necessary. Wireless thermometer
  • Once the DCF time reception is deactivated (dCF OFF), the clock and date must be manually set. No time zone will appear.
  • If the DCF reception is activated, the manually set time will be overwritten by the DCF time when the signal is received successfully.

7.1.3 Time zone setting

  • In the setting mode you can make the time zone cor- rection
  • The time zone correction is needed for countries where the DCF signal can be received but the time zone is different from the DCF time (e.g. +1=one hour plus).

8. Ventilation recommendation and alarm

  • The device checks the room temperature and the outside temperature simultaneously, and recom- mends to open/close windows to lower the room temperature. – Outdoor temperature is lower than indoor tem- perature: Window OPEN symbol – Outdoor temperature is higher than indoor tem- perature: Window CLOSED symbol
  • In addition, an alarm is triggered as soon as the dis- play (window OPEN/CLOSED) changes and the cur- rent indoor and outdoor temperatures overlap. The display flashes and an alarm tone sounds if desired. This alarm function is configured in the setting mode (see “Volume setting for the ventilation alarm”).

8.1 Activate and deactivate the ventilation alarm

  • To ensure that the symbol (window OPEN/CLOSED) appears on the display and an alarm is triggered as soon as the display changes, the alarm must be active.
  • Press and hold the ALARM button for 3 seconds to activate the alarm function (default OFF).
  • The alarm symbol appears on the display and “On” is flashing, if the alarm is activated. Wait some seconds until the display returns to normal mode to confirm the setting. The alarm symbol remains on the display. TFA_No. 30.3046_Anleitung 15.06.2023 14:33 Uhr Seite 14– 28 – – 29 – Wireless thermometer
  • There are three different alarm symbols depending on the alarm volume setting: – Symbol with one sound wave: Alarm volume low (in setting mode On Lo). – Symbol with two sound waves: Alarm volume high (in setting mode On Hi). – Symbol without sound wave: no alarm sound (in setting mode OFF).

If you do not wish to be notified about the ventilation recommendations (e.g. outside the warm season), you can deactivate this function completely. Press and hold the ALARM button for 3 seconds. “OFF” is flash- ing. Wait some seconds until the display returns to normal mode to confirm the setting. The alarm symbol and the ventilation recommendation disappear.

  • After the ventilation alarm has been activated, an alarm is triggered when the current indoor and out- door temperatures overlap for the first time. This is to draw attention to the change in ventilation needs.
  • The window display changes (OPEN CLOSE or CLOSE OPEN), the alarm symbol flashes and an alarm signal sounds three times in quick succession (provided that in setting mode the volume is activa- ted). After that, the alarm signal sounds again every minute
  • Follow the ventilation recommendation and open or close the windows. Press briefly the ALARM button to turn off the current alarm. The alarm function remains active and is triggered next time the ventilation re- commendation changes.

9. Maximum/Minimum function

  • Press the –/MIN button in normal mode to show the minimum (MIN) values of indoor and outdoor tem- perature since the last reset with time and date of recording. Press the –/MIN button again to return to normal mode.
  • Repeat the process by pressing the MAX/+ button to see the maximum values. Wireless thermometer
  • The device will automatically quit the MAX/MIN mode if no button is pressed for 20 seconds.
  • Press and hold the SET button for 3 seconds while the highest or lowest values are displayed. The val- ues will be deleted individually and reset to the cur- rent state.

11. Location and mounting

  • When placed outdoors, choose a shady and dry place for the transmitter. Direct sunlight may trigger incorrect measurement and continuous humidity damages the electronic components needlessly.
  • Place the base station in any room of the house.
  • Avoid being close to possible sources of interference that may affect radio reception. It is recommended to keep a distance of at least 2 metres to possibly inter- fering sources (TV, computer, microwave, wireless phones, baby monitors) and large metal objects (e.g. refrigerator). Within solid walls, especially ones with metal parts, the transmission range can be reduced considerably. In extreme cases, please place the unit close to a window to improve reception. TFA_No. 30.3046_Anleitung 15.06.2023 14:33 Uhr Seite 15– 30 – – 31 – Wireless thermometer
  • Check whether the transmission from the transmit- ter to the base station is possible and whether the DCF radio clock signal can be received.
  • If necessary, choose, another position for the out- door transmitter and/or receiver.
  • If the transmission is successful, you can place or wall mount the base station and the outdoor trans- mitter with the suspension device.
  • To wall-mount the transmitter, screw the holder to the wall and click the outdoor transmitter into the holder.
  • Do not use the base station in the vicinity of radia- tors, other sources of heat or in direct sunlight.

12. Battery replacement

  • As soon as the corresponding battery symbol appears in the display, please change the batteries of the base station or transmitter
  • Please note: When the batteries are changed, the contact between the transmitters and the base station must be restored – so always restart both devices or start a manual transmitter search.
