Thank you for choosing our product. We hope you enjoy using this device. Please read the safety instructions and the user manual carefully before initial use. Note the warnings on the device and in the user manual. Always keep the user manual close at hand. If you sell the device or give it away, please ensure that you also pass on this user manual. Safety instructions to be observed39
This device plays back audio signals. The soundbar is designed to be connected to televisions. It can also be connected to other devices, such as portable CD or MP3 players, computers/ notebooks, smartphones and stereo systems. The device is only intended for private use and not for industrial/ commercial use. Please note that we shall not be liable in cases of improper use: Do not modify the device without our consent and do not use any auxiliary equipment that we have not approved or supplied. Only use replacement parts or accessories that we have supplied or approved. Comply with all the information in this user manual, especially the safety instructions. Any other use is considered improper and can cause personal injury or property damage.40
3. Safety instructions
WARNING! Risk of injury due to improper use! This device is not suitable for use by people (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or with insufficient experience or knowledge unless properly supervised by a person responsible for their safety unless these people have been instructed in how to use the device safely and have fully understood the possible dangers. Never leave children unattended near electrical equipment. Children are not always able to recognise and avoid possible hazards. 3.1. Installing the device safely WARNING! Risk of injury due to electric shock! There is a risk of electric shock due to live cables and wiring. Install the device in a suitable location, and take care not to damage any hidden electrical cables or pipework when drilling. Do not place containers that are filled with liquid, e.g. vases, on or near the device and its mains cable. Such containers may tip over and the liquid may impair the electrical safety of the device. Protect the device and all other devices connected to it from dampness, water drops or water spray. To prevent malfunctions, keep the device dust-free, away from sources of heat, and out of direct sunlight. Do not place naked flames such as lit candles on or near the device.41
Do not use the device in potentially explosive atmospheres. This includes petrol stations, fuel storage areas and areas where solvents are processed, for example. This device must also not be used in areas with particle-laden air (for example flour or wood dust). Do not expose the device to extreme conditions. It is designed exclusively for use indoors. Avoid:
- high humidity or wet conditions
- extremely high or low temperatures
- naked flames. Do not cover the device (with newspapers, covers etc.), otherwise it may overheat. Do not place any objects on the cables as otherwise they may be damaged. To prevent the device from falling, only install and operate it and its components on a sturdy, level, vibration-free surface. All multimedia devices that are connected to the device must comply with the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive. 3.2. Power supply WARNING! Risk of injury due to electric shock! There is a risk of electric shock due to live cables and wiring. Install the device close to power sockets, which must always be easily accessible. Position the cables so that no one can tread on them or trip over them. To disconnect the device from the power supply, remove the device’s plug from the power socket. Always hold the plug firmly when unplugging it. To prevent damage, never pull on the cable.42 Only operate the device from earthed 100-240V ~ 50/60 Hz sockets. Contact the local energy supplier if you have any questions about the power supply at the installation location. Stop using the device’s plug if the housing or the cable connecting it to the device are damaged. Never open the device housing. Touching live parts or attempting to modify the device’s electrical or mechanical functionality will put you at risk, and may also cause the device to malfunction. Disconnect the device from the power supply during a thunderstorm or if it is not going to be used for a longer period of time. 3.3. Handling batteries The remote control is operated with two 1.5V AAA batteries. Please note the following: Keep new and used batteries out of the reach of children. Do not swallow batteries as they can cause chemical burns! WARNING! Risk of chemical burns! The remote control contains two batteries. If these batteries are swallowed, they can cause serious internal chemical burns within two hours which may prove fatal. Seek medical help immediately if you think that batteries may have been swallowed or secreted in any part of the body. Remove leaking batteries from the device immediately. Clean the contacts before inserting a new battery. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and mucous membranes. In the event of contact with battery acid, rinse the affected areas immediately with plenty of clean water and consult a doctor as soon as possible. Risk of chemical burns from battery acid! Stop using the remote control if you cannot close the battery compartment securely, and keep it well away from children.43
WARNING! Risk of explosion! Risk of explosion if batteries are replaced incorrectly. There is a risk of explosion if batteries are replaced incorrectly! Always use new batteries of the same type. Never use old and new batteries together. Never try to recharge non-rechargeable batteries. Risk of explosion! Never expose the batteries to excessive heat (such as direct sunlight, fire or similar). Store batteries in a cool, dry place. Intense direct heat can damage batteries. Do not expose the device to sources of intense heat. Never short-circuit batteries. Never throw batteries into a fire. Pay attention to the polarity (+/–) when inserting the batteries. Remove flat batteries from the device. If the device is not going to be used for long periods, remove the batteries. 3.4. Ambient temperature The device can be operated at an ambient temperature of +0°C to +40°C. When switched off, the device can be stored at temperatures of between 0°C and +40°C. Only use the device indoors in dry rooms. DANGER! Risk of electric shock! Major changes in temperature or fluctuations in humidity can cause moisture to build up within the device due to condensation – this can cause an electrical short circuit.44 After transporting the device, wait until it has reached ambient temperature before switching it on. 3.5. In the event of faults If the device or mains cable is damaged, unplug the mains cable from the socket immediately. Do not use the device or its accessories if they are damaged, generate smoke or emit unusual operating noises. In this case, disconnect the power supply immediately. Never, under any circumstances, attempt to open and/or repair the device yourself. Contact our Service Centre if you experience technical problems.
DANGER! Risk of choking and suffocation! There is a risk of choking and suffocation if plastic film or small parts are inhaled or swallowed. Keep packaging away from children. Do not allow children to play with the packaging material. The packaging material is not a toy! Remove the product from the packaging and remove all packaging materials. Check your purchase to ensure that all items are included. If anything is missing, please contact our Service Centre within 14 days of purchase. Before each use, check the device for damage. 6. Preparing for initial use
6.1. Inserting batteries in the remote control Insert/replace the batteries before initial use or if the device does not react properly to commands from the remote control or does not react at all. Then follow these steps: Gently press the locking tab into the battery compartment cover and press it downwards. Pull the battery compartment cover upwards to remove it. If necessary, remove the old batteries and dispose of them in accordance with legal regulations. Insert two new type AAA 1.5V batteries. Make sure that the battery polarity is correct. Place the battery compartment cover with the locking tab pointing upwards back onto the battery compartment and push it upwards until the locking tab audibly clicks into place.
6.2. Setting up/mounting the soundbar You can operate the soundbar either on a horizontal surface (variant A) or mounted on a wall using the supplied wall mount (variant B). AB49
NOTICE! Risk of damage! Risk of damage to the device if the device is installed incorrectly. Set up and operate the device on a stable, level and vibration-free surface to prevent the device from falling. Several aggressive varnishes can corrode the rubber feet on the device. If necessary, place the device on a non-slip mat. Position the soundbar on a stable, level surface close to an easily accessible power socket.
6.2.2. Variant B – wall-mounted soundbar
WARNING! Risk of injury due to electric shock! There is a risk of electric shock due to live cables and wiring. Install the device in a suitable location, and take care not to damage any hidden electrical cables or pipework when drilling. NOTICE! Risk of damage! Risk of damage to the device or material damage if the device is not mounted properly. Before mounting on a wall, check that the wall has the required load bearing capacity. MEDIONAG shall not be liable for damage resulting from incorrect or non-professional mounting. Use only the supplied wall mounts when mounting the device on a wall.50 To mount the soundbar on a wall, proceed as follows: Drill two parallel holes in the wall. To do so, use an appropriate drill bit for the respective surface (dia. 5.5-6 mm, depending on the wall construction). The holes are to be spaced 606 mm apart (A). Push a dowel into each drilled hole as required. Screw both wall mountings supplied into the wall. Ensure that the openings for hanging the soundbar point upwards (B). Loosen and remove the screws on the fixing points on the back of the soundbar. Replace the previously removed screws with the supplied wall mounting screws and screw these into the fixing points (C). Attach the soundbar in the mounting holes on the wall mounts using the wall mounting screws (D). 606 mm
7. Connecting external devices
You can connect a wide range of different audio output devices to the soundbar, including a television, MP3 or CD player, receiver, computer, and USB stick. Switch off all the devices before connecting them to each other. Also comply with the information in the user manual for the particular device you want to connect to the soundbar. 7.1. Connecting an external device via AUX IN .KGJVNUTK ';>/4
7.1.1. Audio cable with 2 x 3.5 mm diameter jack plugs
You will need an audio cable with 2 x 3.5mm diameter jack plugs (supplied) to connect an audio output device to the soundbar using the headphone output socket on the output device. Set the audio output device to a medium volume level and then switch it off. Connect the jack plug to the soundbar’s AUX IN connection. Insert the other jack into the headphone output socket on the audio output device.
7.1.2. Audio cable with cinch plugs
You will need an audio cable, with cinch plugs, 1 x 3.5 mm jack plug -> 2 x cinch (not supplied) to connect an audio device to the soundbar using the cinch outputs on the audio output device. Set the audio output device to a medium volume level and then switch it off. Connect the jack plug to the soundbar’s AUX IN connection. Insert the red and white cinch plugs at the other end of the cable into the corresponding colour-coded output sockets on the audio output device.52 Devices such as stereo receivers or televisions usually have one red and one white audio output socket. These are usually marked as OUT, AUDIO OUT, LINE OUT or similar. To this end, please also note the information in the user manual for your audio output device. 7.2. Connecting external devices via the optical connection 56:/)'2
You can connect digital amplifiers or televisions with an optical digital output to the soundbar via the OPTICAL connection. To do this, you will need an optical digital cable (fibre optic cable, not supplied with the soundbar, but available from specialist retailers). Set the audio output device to a medium volume level and then switch it off. Remove the cover cap from the OPTICAL connection on the soundbar. Plug the optical digital cable connector into the OPTICAL connection on the soundbar. Plug the other optical digital cable connector into the corresponding digital output socket on your audio output device. If an audio sound is not output, switch the audio output format on your audio output device to PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) mode.53
7.3. Connecting televisions via HDMI ARC .*3/'8) .*3/'8) Proceed as follows to connect your television to the soundbar via HDMI ARC: Set the volume on your television to a medium level. Switch off the television and the soundbar. Connect the HDMI cable (supplied) to the HDMI ARC port on the soundbar. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI IN (ARC) port on your television. Enable the ARC and CEC functions on your television and set the sound output format to PCM (Pulse Code Modulation). Please note that the name of the HDMI IN ARC port and the CEC function may vary depending on the manufacturer of your television. For more detailed information, refer to the corresponding user manual. 7.4. Important information regarding HDMI CEC/ HDMI ARC
7.4.1. HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control)
CEC enables all devices connected via HDMI to communicate with each other. This connection then means that you can use the remote control for your television, for example, to adjust the volume on your device or mute it. In order to use HDMI CEC functions, all connected components must support HDMI CEC. The name and range of functions may vary depending on the manufacturer. To this end, please note the information in the user manual for the device in question. All HDMI cables that support HDMI 1.3 standard or later also support HDMI CEC.54
7.4.2. HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel)
Using ARC means not only that audio signals are received via HDMI, but that these signals can also be sent back along the same cable. In order to use HDMI ARC functions, all connected components must support HDMI ARC. In addition, you will need at least one “High Speed” HDMI cable (version 1.4 or later).
8. Starting up the soundbar
8.1. Connecting the soundbar to the power supply Check that all the devices you want to connect are connected to the soundbar. Connect the supplied mains cable to the AC~ connection socket on the soundbar and plug the other end into an easily accessible power socket. The LED indicator light lights up red. 8.2. Switching on the soundbar/switching to standby mode Switch on the soundbar by pressing the button on the remote control or the soundbar. During operation, press and hold the button on the soundbar or on the remote control to switch the soundbar into standby mode. The LED indicator light lights up red. If you would like to completely switch off the soundbar, disconnect it from the power supply. If a television or other audio output device is connected via the AUX IN/ OPTICAL/HDMI ARC connections, the soundbar will switch on automatically after a few seconds if the television or audio output device is switched on. If the connection to the television or audio output device is disconnected, the soundbar will switch off automatically after approx. 15 minutes.55
9. Connecting an external device via
Bluetooth® In Bluetooth mode, you can receive wireless audio signals from an external Bluetooth-enabled audio output device. Make sure the two devices are not more than 8metres apart. Only one Bluetooth device can be connected to the soundbar at a time. To pair a Bluetooth-enabled audio output device with the sound system for the first time, proceed as follows: Switch on the soundbar. Press the button on the soundbar several times or press the button on the remote control once to select Bluetooth as the audio source. The LED indicator light flashes blue and the soundbar automatically switches to Bluetooth pairing mode. Switch on the Bluetooth function on your audio output device and activate search mode on it to pair the two devices. For more information about the Bluetooth function of your audio output device, please refer to the corresponding user manual. The device name of the soundbar “MD 44055” will be displayed in the device list on your audio output device as soon as the signal is found. Select the soundbar and pair the two devices. If you are prompted to enter a password, enter “0000”. When the devices have been paired successfully, the soundbar will emit an acoustic signal and the LED indicator light continuously lights up blue. In Bluetooth mode, the soundbar attempts to automatically connect itself to the last audio output device connected via Bluetooth. To pair a different/new Bluetooth audio output device with the soundbar, and to disconnect an active Bluetooth connection, if applicable, press and hold the PAIR button on the remote control for approx. 3 seconds. The soundbar is now in Bluetooth pairing mode again and the LED indicator light flashes blue. If no other Bluetooth audio output device is paired with the soundbar within 2 minutes, the previous device connection will be re-established.56
10.1. Select audio source Press the button on the soundbar once or several times or press the corresponding button on the remote control ( , OPTICAL, HDMI ARC, AUX IN) to select the desired operating mode. The LED indicator light shows the currently selected operating mode as follows: LED indicator light colour Operating mode Red Standby Green AUX IN Orange OPTICAL Blue Bluetooth White HDMI ARC 10.2. Setting the volume Press the button on the soundbar or on the remote control to increase the playback volume. Press the button on the soundbar or on the remote control to decrease the playback volume. 10.3. Muting the soundbar Press the button on the remote control to mute audio playback on the soundbar. Press the button on the remote control or one of the / , buttons again to cancel the mute setting. 10.4. Setting equaliser sound eff ects Press either the NEWS, MUSIC or MOVIE button on the remote control to set a default equaliser sound effect. Press the DEFAULT button on the remote control to set the standard tone without an equaliser sound effect.57
10.5. Setting the treble and bass Use the Treble +/- buttons on the remote control to set the required intensity for reproducing high-pitched sounds. Use the Bass +/- buttons on the remote control to set the required intensity for reproducing low-pitched sounds. + = Increase the bass/treble intensity – = Decrease the bass/treble intensity 10.6. Controlling playback in Bluetooth® mode If you have connected the soundbar to a device that supports the A2DP and AVRCP profiles (Audio Video Remote Control), the soundbar is used as an output medium and all audio signals are only output via the soundbar. If you have connected the soundbar to your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone, the music playing through the soundbar is interrupted when you receive a call, and only continues when you finish the call. Press the button on the remote control to start playing tracks. To interrupt playback, press the button on the remote control. Press the button on the remote control to continue audio playback. Use the / buttons on the remote control to switch tracks: Short press: Play previous track Short press: Play next track

NOTICE! Risk of damage! Risk of damage to the device due to improper use of the device. Before cleaning the device, always disconnect it from the power supply by unplugging the mains plug. Make sure that no liquid gets inside the device. Only use a dry, soft cloth to clean the device. Do not use chemical solutions or cleaning products because these may damage the device’s surface and/or inscriptions. Furniture is often coated with varnishes or plastics which are cleaned with a wide range of cleaning agents. Some of these cleaning agents contain ingredients which might damage the material of the device feet and cause them to soften. If necessary, place an non-slip mat underneath.
13. Storing the device when not in use
If you do not intend to use the device over a longer period of time, unplug it from the power supply and store in a cool, dry place. Ensure that the device is protected from dust, dirt, moisture and extreme temperature variations.
If the device stops working properly, please refer to the troubleshooting table shown below to see if you can resolve the problem yourself. Never attempt to repair the device yourself. If a repair is necessary, please contact our Service Centre or a suitable authorised repair workshop.59
Fault Troubleshooting No function Make sure that the mains plug is supplied with power. Make sure that the mains cable is correctly connected to the device. Check that all the connected devices have an adequate electricity supply. Switch the soundbar on by pressing the button on either the remote control or on the soundbar. Audio output device not detected Check that the correct cables have been used or the Bluetooth® connection is active. Pair the devices again, if necessary. Check all cable connections for damage. Check that all the connected devices have an adequate electricity supply. Check whether the (HDMI) cable used supports the required functions/formats. Use another cable, if necessary. Sound cannot be heard Make sure the soundbar is not muted. Press the button on the remote control or one of the / buttons to cancel the mute setting. Check the volume setting on the audio output device. If necessary, increase the volume. It is not possible for the device to decode all digital audio formats from the input source. Select a supported audio format. Distorted sound Change the position of the soundbar to avoid disruptive external influences. Move the objects responsible for the distortion (mobile phone or similar) away from the device.

PACKAGING Your device has been packaged to protect it from damage in transit. The packaging is made of materials that can be disposed of or recycled in an environmentally friendly manner. DEVICE All old devices marked with the symbol shown must not be disposed of in normal household waste. In accordance with Directive 2012/19/EU, the device must be properly disposed of at the end of its service life. This involves separating the materials in the device for the purpose of recycling and minimising the environmental impact. Take old devices to an electrical scrap collection point or a recycling centre. Before doing so, remove the batteries from the remote control and take them to a separate collection point for used batteries. Contact your local waste disposal company or your local authority for more information on this subject. BATTERIES Do not dispose of used batteries with normal household rubbish. Batteries must be disposed of correctly. For this purpose, retailers that sell batteries and local collection points provide containers in which you can dispose of them. The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol means that the battery must not be disposed of with household rubbish.61
