How to adjust the power of the DesignMax DM3P speaker?

Use a flathead screwdriver to turn the transformer tap on the back of the speaker. Available positions are: 70 V (3, 6, 12, 25 W) and 100 V (6, 12, 25 W). The factory setting is indicated on the product.

Can I paint the speaker?

Yes, the speaker is ready to paint. Use a paint specifically designed for polypropylene (PP) plastic. You can remove the logo by peeling it off the grille before painting.

How to install the speaker at height?

Installation must be performed by a professional. Use the included suspension cable: wrap it around a load-bearing structure, secure it with the cable clamp, then adjust the height. A secondary safety cable is recommended for local compliance.

What type of cable should be used for wiring?

Use cable gauge 18 (0.8 mm²) to 14 AWG (2.1 mm²). Strip 6 mm (1/4 in) of wire for the connector. Follow the connection diagrams for 70/100 V or 8 Ω modes.

Can I use the speaker outdoors?

No, the DesignMax DM3P is designed for indoor use only. Do not install it in places exposed to water or condensation.

How to clean the speaker?

Clean it only with a dry cloth. Do not use soap, detergent, alcohol, or other chemical agents that could damage the plastic.

What to do in case of technical issue?

Do not attempt to repair the speaker yourself. Take it to an authorized Bose Professional service center. To find a dealer, visit BoseProfessional.com.

Which accessories are compatible?

Bose Professional offers a threaded rod adapter and a suspended conduit adapter as optional accessories. Use only accessories specified by the manufacturer.

Is the speaker delivered with a suspension cable?

Yes, each speaker comes with a 4.57 m (15 ft) suspension cable and a maximum load of 45.36 kg (100 lb). Cable ties and a mounting tool are also provided.

How to orient the grille logo?

After installation, rotate the grille to align the logo as desired. The logo can be removed by peeling it off the grille surface.

This document is intended to provide professional installers with basic installation and safety guidelines for this product in typical fixed-installation systems. • Do not make unauthorized alterations to this product.
- Do not expose loudspeaker or mounting components to any chemical substances that are not specified by Bose Professional, including but not limited to lubricants, cleaning agents, contact sprays, or hydrocarbon-based solvents. Exposure to such substances can lead to degradation of the plastic material, resulting in cracking and creating a falling hazard.
- Clean speakers using only a dry cloth. Do not expose loudspeaker to soap, detergent, mineral oil, alcohol or other cleaning agents or chemicals.

Cable-specific Warnings:

- The cable is not intended for installation or use in indoor water facility areas (including, without limitation, indoor pools, indoor water parks, hot tub rooms, saunas, steam rooms and indoor skating rinks).

- Do not use for lifting, such as a crane or pulley, or for hanging installations that include movement or dynamic behavior. Intended for hanging static loudspeakers only.

- Do not walk or stand on the cable installation.

- Do not paint the cable fastener or any other part of the cable assembly.

- If using a cable system not supplied by Bose Professional, the working load limit must be equal to or greater than the supplied cable system. See Technical Specifications for Safe Working Load.

- Do not apply oil or any other lubricant to the cable fastener or any other part of the cable assembly.

- Never join two cables together. Only use one cable assembly per loudspeaker hang point.

- Only use the pendant suspension cable with Bose Professional pendant loudspeakers.

Wiring the Loudspeaker

Wire Gauge

The DesignMax DM3P loudspeaker is designed to work with 18 AWG (0.8 mm²) to 14 AWG (2.1 mm²) size wire only.

Connection Diagrams

Expose six millimeters ( 14 inch) of bare wire to attach to the terminals.

Set tap by turning. Use a flat head screwdriver.

Preparing the Installation

Using a Safety Cable

Some regional construction codes require the use of a secondary method of securing loudspeakers to support structures to provide additional safety. Choose a mounting position, method, and hardware consistent with local building codes and regulations.

Bose Professional recommends using (A) a safety wire or (B) a safety cable as a secondary securing mechanism (not included). See the diagram to the right for safety attachment points.

The included suspension cable can be used as a safety cable when using the Threaded Rod Adapter or Pendant Conduit Adapter accessories.

Follow the manufacturer's instructions for any secondary securing mechanism implemented.

Mounting the Loudspeaker

Before beginning installation, be sure to adjust your loudspeaker tap setting.

1. Insert the included suspension cable through the cable fastener and wrap the cable around a support structure; secure the cable using the cable fastener. Note: Arrows on the cable fastener indicate the cable direction. A. To loosen the cable, insert the fastener tool into the release hole and adjust the cable.
2. Pull the loose end of the suspension cable to adjust the cable to the desired height.
3. Secure the cable clip to the center attachment point. Once you've reached the desired loudspeaker height, cut away any excess cable. Note: Trim any frayed filaments with wire cutters after cutting to length.
4. Remove the connector, wire the connector, and reinsert the connector into the loudspeaker. For wiring information, see Wiring the Loudspeaker on page 4. Note: If you intend to use a service loop, it can be stored in the loudspeaker recess at the top of the enclosure.

Use the included cable ties to secure the wiring to the suspension cable.

1. Rotate the grille so the logo is in an orientation suitable for your installation. Note: Do not remove the grille unless painting. Logo can be removed from the grille by peeling away from grille surface.
