Frequently Asked Questions - FXGP1600 Fuxtec

How do I prime the FXGP1600 pump before first use?
Open the filling screw on the pump body, fill with water up to the mark, then screw back. Never run the pump dry.
What liquids can I pump with this pump?
Clear water, rainwater, and chlorinated water (pools). Do not pump drinking water, salt water, food, wastewater, aggressive or flammable liquids.
What is the maximum suction depth?
The maximum suction depth is 8 meters. For heights above 4 m, use a suction hose with a diameter larger than 1 inch.
What to do if the motor does not start?
First check the power supply and fuses. Wait for the thermal switch to cool down (15-20 min). If the impeller is blocked, clean it through the rear opening of the housing.
Why does the pump run but not deliver water?
Possible causes: water level too low, air in the pump body (reprime), air suction (check connections), or delivery pipe closed or kinked.
How to maintain the pump?
Rinse the pump with clean water after each use. For permanent installation, check proper operation every 3 months. Clean sediments regularly.
Can I let the pump run dry?
No, dry running can destroy the pump. Always fill with water before starting and ensure the suction pipe is submerged.
What to do in case of overheating?
The pump is equipped with a thermal protection switch that cuts off the motor in case of overheating. Wait about 15-20 minutes for it to cool down and it will reset automatically.
How to store the pump in winter?
Drain all pipes and open the drain screw to remove water. Close the screw and store the pump in a dry and frost-free place.
Is this pump suitable for seawater?
No, salt water is prohibited as it would damage the pump. Use it only for clear water, rainwater, or chlorinated pool water.

Only use an extension cords which are designed for outdoor use – minimum crosssection 3 x 1.5 mm2, quality of H07RN-F as per DIN 57282/57245 with splashproof plug socket. Always fully unwind cable drums.

Damaged or fragile extension cables may not be used.

Check the condition of you extension cable prior to every use.

Note:

The pump is fitted with a thermal protection switch which switches the motor off in the event of overheating. After a coolingdown phase of approx. 15 - 20 minutes the pump switches on again automatically.

10.4 Mounting and starting the device

  1. Prepare a level and sturdy installation location
  2. Install the pump horizontally and where it will not be flooded

Note:

The pump must be protected from rain and direct water jets

Connect the suction line

Note:

We recommend the installation of flexible lines at the pump inlet to prevent mechanical pressure or tension being exerted on the pump.

  1. Select the length of the suction line such that the pump cannot run dry. The suction line must always be at least 30 cm under the water surface.
  2. Connect the suction line. Ensure that the connection is tight, but take care not to damage the thread.
  3. If the water carries a small amount of sand, aprefilter must be installed between suction line and pump inlet.
  4. Always lay the suction line with an upward gradient.

Note:

If the suction head is more than 4 m, a suction hose with a diameter larger than 1" must be installed.

Install pressure line

  1. Screw connecting nipple (13) with round seal ring (14) into pump outlet (2).
  2. Screw elbow nipple (11) with seal (12) onto connecting nipple (13) and turn the elbow nipple in the required direction.
  3. Connect pressure line (10) to elbow nipple (11).
  4. Open all shut-off devices (valves, spray nozzles, water tap) in the pressure line.

Operation

Important:

Danger of damage to the device. Dry running will destroy the pump!

The pump must be filled with water up to the overflow before each use so that it can draw water immediately.

  • Open filling screw (8).
  • Fill with water via the filling screw up to the mark on the pump housing
  • Screw in the filling screws again.

Switching on

  1. Open all shut-off devices (valve, spray nozzle, water cock) in the pressure line.
  2. Insert the plug of the mains cable into the power socket.
  3. Switch on the pump at the on / off switch.

Important:

Danger of damage to the pump! A closed pressure line can result in damage to the pump. Do not allow the pump to run against a closed pressure line.

Switching off

Switch the pump off at the on / off switch after use. Close all the shut-off devices in the pressure line.

Important:

Danger of injury from hot water. After extended use against the closed pressure side (> 10 min.), the water in the pump can become very hot and may escape uncontrolled! Disconnect the pump from the mains supply and allow the pump and water to cool down. Put the pump into operation again only after all the faults have been remedied!

The risk of injury from hot water can arise in the event of:

  • Incorrect installation,
  • Closed pressure side,
  • Lack of water in the suction line, or
  • Defective pressure switch

Procedure in case of overheating

  1. Disconnect the pump from the mains supply and allow the pump and water to cool down
  2. Check the pump, installation and water level.
  3. Put the pump into operation again only after all the faults have been remedied!

10.5 HELP IN CASE OF MALFUNCTION

Danger of electric shock

When working on the pump, there is the risk of receiving an electric shock.

  • Disconnect the mains plug before correcting any malfunctions!
  • Faults in the electrical system must be rectified by a qualified electrician.
