Frequently Asked Questions - FXGP1800 Fuxtec

What liquids can I pump with the Fuxtec FXGP1800?
You can pump clean water, rainwater and chlorinated water (pool). Never pump drinking water, salt water, foodstuffs, wastewater or corrosive/flammable liquids.
How do I prime the pump before first use?
Before each start, fill the pump with water via the filling screw (mark on the body). Open the screw, pour water up to the mark, then screw back on. Never run the pump dry.
What to do if the pump does not start?
First check the power supply (fuses, socket). If the motor is blocked, clean the suction area via the rear opening of the housing. If the thermal switch has tripped, wait 15-20 minutes for it to cool down.
How do I maintain the pump after use with chlorinated water?
After pumping chlorinated water, rinse the pump with clean water to remove residues. For temporary installation, rinse after each use; for permanent, check every 3 months.
Can I use the pump continuously?
No, the pump is not designed for continuous operation. It should be used intermittently. If the outlet is closed for more than 10 minutes, the water may heat up and cause burns.
What is the maximum suction height?
The maximum suction height is 9 meters. If it exceeds 4 meters, use a suction hose with a diameter larger than 1'' and a suction kit with a non-return valve.
How do I protect the pump from frost?
In freezing weather, drain the pump completely: open the purge screw and let the water flow out. Store it in a dry and frost-free place. Never leave water inside.
What to do if the pump is running but not delivering water?
Possible causes: water level too low (submerge the hose), air in the body (fill with water), leak on suction (check seals), or discharge hose closed/kinked (open or straighten). Beware of hot water!
What are the integrated safety devices?
The pump is equipped with a thermal protection switch that cuts off the motor in case of overheating. It restarts automatically after cooling. Also, use a 30 mA differential circuit breaker for electrical safety.
Where can I find spare parts for the FXGP1800?
Spare parts are available from the manufacturer Fuxtec or authorized resellers. Contact customer service to order parts such as seals, strainer or power cable.

  • Re-pumping and pumping out of vessels (e.g. swimming pools)
  • Removing water from fountains, rain barrels, and cisterns.

The pump is suitable only for conveying the fol- lowing fluids:

  • Clear water, rainwater
  • Water containing chlorine (e.g. swimming pools)
Any use not in accordance with this designated use shall be regarded as misuse.

The pump must not be operated continuously. It is not suitable for conveying:

  • Drinking water
  • Salt water
  • Foodstuffs
  • Waste water
  • aggressive media, chemicals corrosive, flammable, explosive or fuming fluds
  • fluids that are hotter than 35 °C
  • water containing sand and abrasive fluids

This appliance can be used by children of 8 years and older and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or those lacking experience and knowledge, if they are supervised or have been instructed with regard to the safe use of the appliance and the ensuing risks. Children must not be allowed to play with the appliance. Cleaning and maintenance must not be carried out by children without supervision.

People with very strong and complex restrictions may have needs that exceed the instructions described here.

Never lift, transport or affix the pump by the mains cable. Do not pull the mains cable in order to pull the mains plug out of the socket.

Unauthorised modifications or conversions to the pump are prohibited. Repairs may only be carried out by our customer service.

Disconnect the mains plug before working on the device. Protect the mains plug against

moisture.

Only use the pump and extension cable if they are in flawless technical condition. Damaged appliances must not be operated.

Maintain a safe distance to persons or animals or switch off the pump if animals approach.

The pump may not be operated while people are in the pool or pond.

The mains voltage at your location must comply with the information regarding mains voltage in the Technical Data. Do not use any other supply voltage.

The appliance must only be operated on electrical equipment in accordance with DIN/VDE 0100, parts 737, 738 and 702. For fuse protection, a circuit breaker of 10 A and an earth leakage circuit breaker with a rated leakage current of 10/30 mA must be installed.

Only use an extension cords which are designed for outdoor use – minimum crosssection 3 x 1.5 mm2, quality of H07RN-F as per DIN 57282/57245 with splashproof plug socket. Always fully unwind cable drums.

Damaged or fragile extension cables may not be used.

Check the condition of you extension cable prior to every use.

Note:

The pump is fitted with a thermal protection switch which switches the motor off in the event of overheating. After a coolingdown phase of approx. 15 - 20 minutes the pump switches on again automatically.

9.4 Mounting and starting the device

  1. Prepare a level and sturdy installation location
  2. Install the pump horizontally and where it will not be flooded

Note:

The pump must be protected from rain and direct water jets

Connect the suction line

Note:

We recommend the installation of flexible lines at the pump inlet to prevent mechanical pressure or tension being exerted on the pump.

  1. Select the length of the suction line such that the pump cannot run dry. The suction line must always be at least 30 cm under the water surface.
  2. Connect the suction line. Ensure that the connection is tight, but take care not to damage the thread.
  3. If the water carries a small amount of sand, aprefilter must be installed between suction line and pump inlet.
  4. Always lay the suction line with an upward gradient.

Note:

If the suction head is more than 4 m, a suction hose with a diameter larger than 1" must be installed.

Install pressure line

  1. Screw connecting nipple (13) with round seal ring (14) into pump outlet (2).
  2. Screw elbow nipple (11) with seal (12) onto connecting nipple (13) and turn the elbow nipple in the required direction.
  3. Connect pressure line (10) to elbow nipple (11).
  4. Open all shut-off devices (valves, spray nozzles, water tap) in the pressure line.

Operation

Important:

Danger of damage to the device. Dry running will destroy the pump!

The pump must be filled with water up to the overflow before each use so that it can draw water immediately.

  • Open filling screw (8).
  • Fill with water via the filling screw up to the mark on the pump housing
  • Screw in the filling screws again.

Switching on

  1. Open all shut-off devices (valve, spray nozzle, water cock) in the pressure line.
  2. Insert the plug of the mains cable into the power socket.
  3. Switch on the pump at the on / off switch.

Important:

Danger of damage to the pump! A closed pressure line can result in damage to the pump. Do not allow the pump to run against a closed pressure line.

Switching off

Switch the pump off at the on / off switch after use. Close all the shut-off devices in the pressure line.

Important:

Danger of injury from hot water. After extended use against the closed pressure side (> 10 min.), the water in the pump can become very hot and may escape uncontrolled! Disconnect the pump from the mains supply and allow the pump and water to cool down. Put the pump into operation again only after all the faults have been remedied!

The risk of injury from hot water can arise in the event of:

  • Incorrect installation,
  • Closed pressure side,
  • Lack of water in the suction line, or
  • Defective pressure switch

Procedure in case of overheating

  1. Disconnect the pump from the mains supply and allow the pump and water to cool down
  2. Check the pump, installation and water level.
  3. Put the pump into operation again only after all the faults have been remedied!

9.5 HELP IN CASE OF MALFUNCTION

Danger of electric shock

When working on the pump, there is the risk of receiving an electric shock.

  • Disconnect the mains plug before correcting any malfunctions!
  • Faults in the electrical system must be rectified by a qualified electrician.
