No, the cooking plates are not dishwasher-safe. Clean them with a damp cloth and a little detergent, then wipe thoroughly.

What to do if the grill does not heat up?

Check that the plug is properly connected to a grounded outlet and that the voltage matches. If the problem persists, contact Severin after-sales service.

Can metal utensils be used on the plates?

No, to avoid damaging the non-stick coating, use only utensils made of wood, silicone, or heat-resistant plastic.

How to prevent food from sticking?

During first use, lightly grease the plates. Afterwards, the non-stick coating is sufficient. Do not use metal utensils.

The grill emits smoke during first use, is that normal?

Yes, slight smoke and odor are normal during the first heating. Ensure good ventilation by opening windows.

How to clean the grease collection tray?

The collection tray can be cleaned with warm soapy water. Dry it thoroughly before replacing it.

Is the appliance safe for children?

Children aged 8 and above may use the appliance under supervision. Children under 8 must be kept away. The appliance becomes very hot.

What to do in case of malfunction or damaged cord?

Before using the appliance, read the following instructions carefully and keep this manual for future reference. The appliance must only be used by those familiar with these instructions.

Connection to the mains supply

The appliance should only be connected to an earthed socket installed in accordance with the regulations. Make sure that the supply voltage corresponds with the voltage marked on the rating label of the appliance. This product complies with all binding CE directives on labelling.

Important safety instructions

• In order to avoid hazards, repairs to this electrical appliance or its power cord must be carried out by our customer service. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to our customer service department (see appendix).
• Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely.
  • To avoid any risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with liquids or immerse it in a liquid.
• Clean the grill plates with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth.

• Every time the appliance is used, the main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.
• Do not allow the appliance or its power cord to touch hot surfaces or to come into contact with any heat sources.
• Always place the appliance on a heat-resistant work surface impervious to splashes and stains with sufficient surrounding space.
• Do not allow the appliance to operate without supervision, and do not place it underneath curtains, wall-cupboards or near any combustible materials.
• Do not operate the grill unless the fat collection tray has been properly fitted. Take care that the tray does not overflow during use; always empty it in good time.
• Always switch off and remove the plug from the wall socket

- after use,

- in cases of malfunction, and

- during cleaning.

• When removing the plug from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord, always grip the plug itself.
• Do not let the power cord hang free.
• Before moving or storing the appliance, ensure it has cooled down completely.
• Do not use the handle to carry the appliance.
• No responsibility is accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.

Intended use

• This appliance must only be used for grilling meat, fish or vegetables, or panini etc.
• Any use other than that described in these instructions must be considered improper and may lead to personal injury or material damage.

Indicator lamp

The indicator lamp remains lit while the appliance is pre-heating.

Before using for the first time

• Clean the grill plates with a damp, lint-free cloth and wipe dry afterwards.
• Close the unit.
• Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet.
• Let the grill heat up for about 15 minutes without any food. This will remove the smell typically encountered when first switching on a grill. A little smoke may be emitted; this is quite normal, but ensure there is adequate ventilation by opening windows or balcony doors.
• Let the appliance cool down.
• Clean the grill plates afterwards as

described in the Cleaning and care section.

Operation

• Close the grill.
  • Fit the fat collection tray.
• Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet.
• Wait until pre-heating is complete and the indicator lamp goes out.
• Open the grill.
• The non-stick grill plates only need to be slightly greased when first used.
  • The grill is now ready for use.
• Place the items to be cooked into the unit. The cooking or grilling time depends largely on the nature of the food concerned.
• In order to prevent the non-stick grill plates against damage, do not use sharp or pointed objects while putting on or removing grilled or cooked food.
  • After cooking is finished, remove the plug from the wall socket and allow sufficient time for the unit to cool down.

Cleaning and care

• Before cleaning the appliance, remove the plug from the wall socket and make sure that the grill has cooled down completely.
• To avoid any risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with liquids or immerse it in a liquid.
• The outside of the grill may be cleaned with a soft damp cloth only. Wipe dry with a dry cloth afterwards.
  • Any fat remaining on the grill surfaces may be wiped off with paper towels.
• Clean the grill surfaces with a damp cloth and a little detergent, wiping thoroughly dry afterwards.
• The fat collection tray can also be cleaned with hot soapy water.
