DELIVERY SCOPE ► 1 warning device: GAS ALARM GX-C3pro ► 1 operating instructions ► Mounting materials (screw, wall plug) Operating instructions EN8 ENGLISH APPROPRIATE USE The GAS ALARM GX-C3pro with external sensor is a gas warning device for carbon mo- noxyde and can already deliver a warning at a gas concentration that lies well below life- threatening values. This monitoring system is, therefore, in line with its purpose, set to a very high sensitivity (see table TECHNICAL DATA). The alarm is signalled acoustically/optically and the connected gas appliance is turned o at the same time. The unit is suitable for normal household use and may not be used in areas at risk of explosion. Another use of the device as described above is not authorized. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Operating voltage: 230 (+/-10%) V AC / 50-60 Hz Power consumption: approx. 2 VA Switching capacity: 1150 W / 5 A Protection type: IP 20 Acoustic pressure sounder: 85 dB @ 1 m Type sensor: electrochemically Operating temperature: -10 °C / +50 °C Storage temperaturer: -20 °C / +70 °C Humidity (ambient): 5–90 % RH (non-condensing) Service life: approx. 5 years Cable length: 2.5 m Cable Ø: 3.5 mm Dimensions (HxWxD): 121x57x38 mm Dimensions sensor (HxWxD): 88x58x38 mm data diagramm Sensor as described in DIN EN 50291 gas type minimum concentration Alarm delay time CO < 30 ppm no Alarm
> 300 ppm < 3 minutes9 ENGLISH Placing of the sensor for carbon monoxide (CO): Mount the external sensor as close as possible to the point of combustion or ue/chimney to be monitored but some 30 cm below the ceiling as the escaping gas will be heated and will initially rise. The sensor may not be used in the following positions:
- places where the sensor is shielded from escaping gas (e.g. behind curtains or in cupboards)
- directly above hearths or points of combustion or over a wash basin or sink
- next to a door, windows, ventilator, fan, air conditioning unit etc.
- in areas where dust or dirt can prevent the sensor from working
- in areas at risk of explosion START-UP The GAS ALARM GX-C3pro is simply plugged into a socket 230V / 50-60Hz. The LED on the power socket lights up red for a moment, then the green LED on both devices. The gas alarm system is ready for immediate use. NOTE: various transport conditions (lengthy storage / humidity) can lead to an alarm state being triggered immediately after the warm-up time (LED ashes red). Disconnect the unit briey from the supply and start the warm-up process again. You may need to repeat this procedure up to three times. It is essential to observe the prescribed sensor mounting height! INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS The GAS ALARM GX-C3pro and the sensor may be installed only in dry, interior rooms and must be correctly placed according to the type of gas to ensure faultless operation of the alarm system. TEST The GAS ALARM GX-C3pro responds only to CO, so you can not test the unit with CO gas. Intelligent software performs regular self-tests on the sensor. If a fault occurs, the yellow LED on the sensor lights up and a connected device is switched o. To test the LEDs, the sounder and the shutdown function, press the TEST button on the sensor. DISORDER If the sensor cable is not connected or not correctly connected, this is also a fault and a gas boiler connected to the power supply unit will be switched o in any case.10 ENGLISH
Avoid the eects of moisture (spray or rain water), dust as well as direct insolation on the device. Clean the device exclusively with a dry linen cloth; in case of heavy dirt accumulation, it may be slightly moistened. Do not use any detergents containing solvents. ALARM Only when an increased gas concentration is detected by the sensor for more than 30 se- conds will the alarm delay times be activated as indicated in the table. After these times have elapsed, the device will sound an alarm, the red LED will ash, the sounder will give a loud acoustic signal and a connected device will be switched o. By pressing the TEST key, only the audible warning can be silenced. Only when the measured gas concentration falls below 40 ppm CO, the voltage at the device socket is released again. WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF ALARM
- Do not unplug the alarm unit
- Do not switch on any other electrical devices or appliances
- Do not ignite any open ame, turn o any open ame already lit
- Immediately open windows and doors and thoroughly ventilate the area or house. Inform any other people in the house. Everyone must leave the house!
- Search the area or house for any points of combustion/re. Carbon monoxide is developed by incomplete (smoky) combustion. Important: everyone must leave the house!
- Eliminate the cause of the escape of gas. In the event of uncertainty, contact your energy supply expert/adviser
- In the event of persistent/repeated alarm, contact your energy supply expert/adviser or the re service GENERAL Elektrotechnik Schabus GmbH & Co. KG is not liable for damages and/or losses of any kind such as individual damages or consequential damages brought about by the gas detector not issuing an alarm despite the presence of an elevated gas concentration. The date (month/year) is at the sensor for the next sensor examination. Please send the sensor to Elektrotechnik Schabus for the work examination.11 ENGLISH
