Congratulations! You are now the proud owner of a Laurastar IZZI/IZZI PLUS, a high-quality hygienic steamer that combines Swiss technology and design. Please carefully read these operating instructions, as well as the safety instructions, before using the device for the rst time, and retain them for future use.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS READ THE ENTIRE INSTRUCTION MANUAL BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE. When using a steamer, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following:

  • This appliance is intended for household use only.
  • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
  • Children shall not play with the appliance. Keep the appliance out of reach of children when it is energized or cooling down.
  • Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
  • The instructions shall state that the liquid or steam must not be directed towards equipment containing electrical components, such as the interior of ovens.
  • The appliance shall not be left unattended while it is connected to the supply mains.
  • The instructions shall state that the appliance has to be unplugged after use and before carrying out user maintenance on the appliance.
  • The appliance is not to be used if it has been dropped, if there are visible signs of damage or if it is leaking. CAUTION Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • Do not leave the appliance unattended while plugged in or while still hot.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a special cord or assembly available from the manufacturer or its service agent.
  • Do not try to repair the appliance by yourself. Contact exclusively an authorized Laurastar Customer service representative for information on repair.
  • You may use an extension lead and accept liability for doing so. Only use an extension lead which is in good condition, has a plug with an earth connection and is suited to the power rating of the appliance. Refer to the technical information on page 13 of this manual.
  • Your Laurastar hygienic steamer has been designed for sanitizing and disinfecting the following sealed surfaces: bathroom surfaces, kitchen surfaces, stainless steel, tiles.
  • The device should not be used to disinfect electrical appliances such as ovens, extraction fans, microwaves, televisions, lamps, hair dryers, electrical heating systems, etc. EN- 3 - - 4 -
  • The product should not be used in areas where there is a danger of explosions or in the presence of toxic substances.
  • Never use the appliance to disinfect objects containing hazardous substances (e.g. asbestos).
  • Be very careful while disinfecting tile walls with sockets.
  • Do not aim the steam jet directly at equipment that contains electrical components, such as the inside of ovens.
  • Do not use on leather, wax-polished furniture or floor, velvet, or other delicate, steam or water sensitive materials.
  • Do not use on any unsealed hard surfaces or painted surfaces. It is recommended to test an isolated area of the surface to be disinfected before proceeding. We also recommend that you check the use and care instructions from the surface manufacturer.
  • Care should be taken when using the appliance due to the emission of steam.
  • Never direct the steam at people, animals or electrical appliances of any kind.
  • Contact with steam under pressure can result in severe burns.
  • Position the electric cable so that it cannot be pulled or caught to avoid a tripping hazard.
  • To avoid risk of electric shock, do not pull the electric cable from the wall socket – take a rm hold of the plug and remove it.
  • The appliance must be rested on a stable surface. Never ll solvents, solvent containing liquids or undiluted acids into the boiler.
  • Never immerse the product in any liquid. If there is liquid on the device, unplug it immediately. NON-DRINKING WATER.

It also signicantly reduces odours. Laurastar hygienic steamers are so powerful that less than 5 seconds are necessary to sterilise your material. According to tests carried out by independent scientic laboratories with the ISO 17025 standard, the Laurastar IZZI high-quality hygienic steamers kill without any chemical product: LAURASTAR'S HYGIENIC DRY MICROFINE STEAM (DMS) DMS is a natural steam. A total and even disinfection is therefore ensured without using any chemical substances. To ensure objective information and scientic rigour, our devices and the scientic tests they undergo, in particular for Dry Microne Steam (DMS), are all controlled by a scientic committee.   • Doors & doorhandles Textile-Guard and Surface-Guard Your hygienic steamer comes with 2 Guards (i.e. soleplate covers) designed to protect materials from direct contact with the DMS Steamer (i.e. aluminium soleplate): Textile- Guard (A) for fabrics and Surface-Guard (B) for surfaces. For perfect disinfection, always touch the material with the DMS steamer (D) (with Surface- or Textile-Guard clipped on it). Please refer to page 6 for a non-exhaustive list of material. WARNINGS: Do not use the aluminium soleplate directly on hard surfaces. Always use the Guards if you need to make contact with a hard surface to avoid risks of burning, melting or deteriorating material. The soleplate covers and aluminium soleplate are hot! IZZI comes with a thermoprotective hand glove (17) for better and more comfortable steaming (C). What can be treated with the hygienic steam? The DMS Steamer adapts to each position whether vertical, horizontal, from above or underneath an object. To protect materials, remember to use the Guards provided depending on how you use your device: Textile-Guard for fabrics or the Surface-Guard for surfaces. WARNINGS: After disinfecting metal objects, they may be hot. Do not use on leather, wax-polished furniture or oor, velvet, or other delicate, steam or water sensitive materials. Make sure your items are water or heat resistant. Always refer to this instruction manual for specic material. Furniture, objects and surfaces
  • Take the DMS Steamer (2) in your hand (H). PLEASE NOTE: Before starting to use the device or after an extended break, press the steam button 2 or 3 times (8) away from any surfaces or people (I). This is to drain any condensation from the aluminium soleplate and prevent water marks on fabrics or surfaces.
  • Check that the installed Guard is the right one for your use purpose and keep the other Guard within easy reach.
  • Place the front of the DMS Steamer (2) rst at the front of: - the Textile-Guard (15) if you want to use your hygienic steamer on fabrics, - or the Surface-Guard (16) if you want to use your hygienic steamer on surfaces.
  • Then lower it to attach the back of the Guard (J). PLEASE NOTE: You may remove from the DMS Steamer and change the guard while it is still hot. CAUTION: The aluminium soleplate may be hot. Do not leave the DMS Steamer in direct contact with the material without any Guard as it may melt or burn it.

START UP AND STEP BY STEP

Installing your Laurastar hygienic steamer

  • Remove the unit from the box using the handle (14) and lay it down on a at, stable, heat-resistant surface (A). Installing your lter cartridge
  • Remove the packaging foil.
  • Place the cartridge in the compartment at the bottom of the water tank (C). Use the supplied lter cartridge to fully enjoy your Laurastar device for longer. Filling the water tank
  • Lift up the lid of the water tank, then remove it by pulling on the lid (B). Fill it with tap water (D).
  • Reinsert the water tank with the lid up, then close it. What water should you use? Your Laurastar hygienic steamer has been designed to work with tap water (D). For easier mobility of your hygienic steamer around the house, use Laurastar IZZI CART (available on our online store or from an ofcial Laurastar retailer). NOTE: Never use additives (e.g. scented water), water containing chemicals or water collected from the tumble dryer, as these products will interfere with the proper functioning of your Laurastar. DANGER! KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF

WARNING: The water tank MUST be lled with

water for the device to work. INSTALLATION Turning on your device

  • Plug in the electric plug (E).
  • Press on the main switch (5), the white indicator light will ash for 3 to 6 minutes (F).
  • When the white light stops ashing, the device is ready. PLEASE NOTE: For your comfort and safety, Laurastar hygienic steamer switches off after 10minutes of inactivity (G). PLEASE NOTE: Heating up the device without water may damage it and will invalidate the warranty of your device. Do not direct the steam towards people or animals.

EN- 9 - - 10 -• Press on the STEAM button (8) to activate the steam (K).• Place the DMS Steamer on the area to be disinfected.• Press the STEAM button (8) continuously. Make slow, regular movements, touching the material, horizontally and vertically and in all directions (L). • To stop the steam, release the STEAM button. • Remove the Textile-Guard or Surface-Guard after each use.•Place the DMS Steamer back on the Steam Generator.After disinfecting a surface, let it air-dry or wipe down using a clean cloth, which has rst been disinfected using your Laurastar IZZI (M). ADVICE: For better mobility in the house, use an extension cord if necessary. Please refer to the technical instructions on page 13. To better move your device around the house, you can use a Laurastar IZZI CART (available on our online store or from an ofcial Laurastar retailer).

FILLING THE WATER TANK

Empty water indicator light (6) and sound signal • A warning alarm sounds and a red indicator light comes on to indicate that there is no water in the tank (N).• You can ll up the water tank without having to turn it off rst.To ll the water tank (4)• Lift up the lid of the water tank and remove it by pulling on the lid. Fill it up with tap water (O). • Reinsert the water tank with the lid up, then close it (P).

  • Turn off the device by pressing the main switch (5) and remove the power plug (10) from the wall socket (A).• Remove the Textile-Guard or Surface-Guard after each use. WARNING! Allow the device to cool down for at least 2 hours before storing it away.• Place the DMS Steamer (2) on the steam generator (B).• Wrap the power cable (11) around the device (C). If your model includes an automatic rewinder (only available on IZZI Plus), pull the power cord to activate the automatic rewind. • Wrap the steam tube (3) around the device (C). • You can leave water in the heater until the next use. MAINTENANCE WARNING: Before cleaning the device, UNPLUG IT and leave it to COOL for at least 2 hours. It is best to clean the device BEFORE use.PLEASE NOTE: Only rinse the device with water. NEVER use products for descaling or any other chemical products.

MAINTENANCE OF DMS STEAMER AND

  • Remove the Textile-Guard or Surface-Guard after each use.
  • Use a Laurastar soleplate cleaning mat (available on our online store or from an ofcial Laurastar retailer) to wipe the dust, material and humidity residues accumulated between the Guard and the aluminium soleplate (D). Let the DMS Steamer dry out to avoid any risk of corrosion. STORAGE
  • A red light will come on to indicate that the lter cartridge needs to be changed (E).
  • Remember to drain the device at the same time. Changing the lter cartridge
  • Lift up the lid of the water tank (4) and remove it by pulling on the lid. Empty the water and remove the lter cartridge (F).
  • Insert a new lter cartridge (12) (available on our online store or from an ofcial Laurastar retailer) and rell the water tank (G).
  • Finally, conrm the change by pressing the cartridge change switch. Draining the device To maintain the effectiveness of your device and to avoid traces of limescale, you must drain it each time you change the lter cartridge. ADVICE: Drain your device every 10 hours of use or once a month. When draining the device, refer to the following instructions:
  • Ensure that the power plug (10) has been removed from the socket, the water tank (4) has been removed and the DMS Steamer (2) has been placed to the side.
  • Shake the device (1) rmly in circular movements and place it over a sink (H).
  • Lift the protective tab (9) on the drain cap and unscrew it with a coin (I).
  • Drain all the water from the device (J).
  • Retighten the drain cap, replace the protective ap and ll up the tank with water.
  • You can turn your device back on. Before calling the Laurastar Customer Service department, please check the following points: Return to the Customer Service department Switch off the appliance and disconnect the plug. Locate your purchase contract, invoice or receipt. Telephone the Customer Service department and follow the instructions given.

PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS

Symptom Likely cause Remedy STEAM GENERATOR Makes a buzzing noise when steam is emitted from the aluminium soleplate. Generator vibration (1). This noise is normal for a new appliance, it will disappear in the course of use. Makes a crackling noise when the appliance is switched on. The appliance has been set to heat up.   • The reservoir (4) is empty.
  • The appliance is switched off.

  • Fill the reservoir with water.
  • Press the appliance’s On/Off switch (5).
  • Connect the plug. The light remains red when the reservoir is full. The reservoir has not been correctly replaced. Remove the reservoir and replace it correctly in the base, with the cover open. DMS STEAMER The soleplate drips.
  • The DMS Steamer is not ready.
  • The appliance has not been drained recently.
  • The reservoir has been rinsed with a product other than water.
  • Wait until the white indicator light on the On/Off switch (5) stops ashing.
  • Drain the appliance.
  • Call the Customer Service department. The aluminium soleplate does not heat up.
  • The plug (10) is disconnected.
  • The On/Off switch (5) is off.
  • Switch on the appliance. beep

The present guarantee does not, in any way, affect the statutory rights of the user pursuant to the national legislation in force governing the sale of consumer goods, including the rights set out by Directive 2011/83/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 October 2011 on certain aspects of sales and guarantees for consumer goods, or the rights held by the user, by virtue of the sales contract, with regard to the respective vendor. In the event that an appliance sold by Laurastar contains manufacturing defects, Laurastar shall be liable for the complete elimination of these defects within the scope defined below.

This guarantee only applies to products manufactured by or on behalf of Laurastar, which may be identified by the brand, the trade name or the Laurastar logo affixed to the product. The guarantee does not apply to non-Laurastar products, accessories or spare parts. This guarantee shall be applicable only if the appliance becomes unusable, or if its use is significantly hindered, due to a manufacturing defect, an assembly defect or a defect in the material of the appliance, and if this defect was already in existence when the appliance was supplied to the user. It shall not be applicable, in particular:

  • if the hindrance to use of the appliance is due to professional use of the appliance, namely intensive use for which the user receives monetary remuneration
  • to normal wear and tear of the appliance’s components and accessories
  • to an intervention by a third party or a repairer not approved by Laurastar
  • to failure to comply with the instructions contained in the instruction manual, specifically the warnings concerning start-up, use and maintenance of the appliance
  • to non-compliant use. The concept of “non-compliant use” notably includes damage caused by :
  • the fall of the appliance or of a component
  • blows or marks resulting from negligence
  • failure to rinse the boiler
  • use of water that does not comply with the specifications
  • use of non-Laurastar products, accessories and spare parts.
  • Continuous connection of the power plug to the mains socket.

2. Entitlements held by the user

When a user asserts, in a manner compliant with the present guarantee, an entitlement arising from the said guarantee, Laurastar shall be free to implement the most appropriate method for eliminating the defect. This guarantee does not grant the user any entitlement or any additional right; in particular, the user may not claim for reimbursement of expenses in relation to the defect, or compensation for any consequential loss or damage. Moreover, transportation of the appliance from the user’s place of residence to Laurastar’s premises, and return transportation, shall be carried out at the user’s risk.

This guarantee is only valid for the entitlements that it accords to the user and that the user has asserted against Laurastar within the guarantee term. The guarantee term is one year for countries that are not members of the European Union and two years for European Union Member States and Switzerland, calculated from the date of delivery of the appliance to the user. If defects are notified after the guarantee term has come to an end, or if the documents or items of evidence that are necessary to assert EN- 15 - the defects in accordance with the present declaration are not present until after the end of the guarantee term, the user shall not hold any rights or entitlements by virtue of this guarantee.

4. Immediate notification of defects

When the user discovers a defect in the appliance, he / she undertakes to communicate this to Laurastar without delay. If the user does not do so, he / she shall lose the entitlements afforded by the present guarantee.

5. Methods for asserting entitlements arising

from the present declaration In order to assert the entitlements resulting from this guarantee, the user must contact the Laurastar Customer Service department, either:

  • by fax. He / she must follow the instructions from the Customer Service department and send, at his / her own risk:
  • the appliance with the defect(s)
  • a copy of the purchase contract, of the invoice, of the till receipt or any other suitable document as evidence of the date or place of purchase. The Customer Service department is available to provide any additional information on this subject. You will find other addresses for importers and official service partners at www.laurastar.com. If an appliance is returned to the Laurastar approved service centre when there is no defect present, the user shall be liable for the dispatch and return costs.

6. Laurastar™ after-sales service

If a Laurastar appliance is delivered to an agreed service centre for an intervention that is not covered by any warranty clause or after the warranty period, said intervention will be considered as an “out-of-warranty repair” and shall be invoiced. Special clause only applicable in France: In addition to the contractual guarantee detailed above, customers benefit from the legal guarantee for hidden defects set out in Article 1641 et seq. of the French Civil Code. Special clause only applicable in China/Taiwan: The aforementioned guarantee does not apply if the faulty product return or request for repair or exchange is made in China/Taiwan, except if all of the following conditions apply:

1. The customer must provide all required

evidence, such as the official sales receipt, guarantee certificate, etc. in order to prove that the product in question was purchased from the official sales channel in China/Taiwan that is directly or indirectly authorised by Laurastar; and

2. A compulsory certification sticker must be

affixed to the respective product by Laurastar with regard to its sale and use in China/ Taiwan. Special clause only applicable in the Republic of Korea: The aforementioned guarantee does not apply if the faulty product return or request for repair or exchange is made in the Republic of Korea, except if all of the following conditions apply:

1. The customer must provide all required

evidence, such as the official sales receipt, guarantee certificate, etc. in order to prove that the product in question was purchased from the official sales channel in the Republic of Korea that is directly or indirectly authorised by Laurastar; and

2. A compulsory certification sticker that is

specific to the Republic of Korea must be affixed to the product in question.

3. The exclusion of the Republic of Korea from
