How to install the Bushnell 740100 boresight laser in my firearm?

Choose the expandable adapter with the largest diameter that can fit into the barrel. Screw it into the laser emitter using the center screw. Tighten the screw to expand the adapter, then insert the assembly into the barrel until it is snug against the muzzle. Ensure the firearm is unloaded before handling.

What batteries should I use for the Bushnell 740100 laser?

Use three alkaline 1.5 V or silver oxide batteries type LR44, SR44, AG13, or A76/S76. Insert them into the white plastic sleeve with the negative (-) terminals facing up, toward the cap spring. Observe the indicated polarity.

How to turn the laser on and off?

Turn the on/off switch on the battery cap clockwise to turn on the laser. A red dot appears. Turn counterclockwise to turn off.

How to adjust the sight alignment with the laser?

For adjustment at 46-91 m (50-100 yards), adjust the windage and elevation settings of your scope so that the crosshair aims at the red dot of the laser. For a shorter distance, compensate for the height of the scope center above the barrel (usually 3.75 cm). Use the provided adjustment chart.

Is the laser dangerous to the eyes?

Yes, it is a Class 3R laser product. Never look directly into the beam and do not point it at eyes. Avoid direct exposure. Always use with caution.

Can I use the laser outdoors in daylight?

The laser is designed for indoor or outdoor use under low light. In daylight, the red dot may be difficult to see. Prefer use in low light conditions.

How to clean and maintain the laser?

Clean the housing with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh solvents. Store it in a dry place away from shocks. Remove batteries if not used for long periods.

What to do if the laser does not turn on?

Sighting-In Chart

Congratulations on the purchase of your Bushnell Laser Boresighter. This boresighter is a precision instrument constructed of the finest materials and assembled by highly skilled craftsmen for a lifetime of trouble-free use. This laser boresighter is designed to quickly get your rifle, handgun, or shotgun “on the paper” and will save you time and money. Final sighting-in should be done by shooting the firearm and fine tuning the adjustments.

BEFORE BORESIGHTING YOUR SCOPE, MAKE SURE THAT THE FIREARM IS UNLOADED AND THE MUZZLE IS POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION

Your boresighter consists of laser emitter (A) as well as a series of expandable adaptors (B) which cover .22 to .50 caliber diameters. There is also a larger adaptor designed for 20 gauge and 12 gauge shotguns. Please note that your laser boresighter is designed for use indoors or outdoors in dimmer light.

To select the proper adaptor, find the largest-diameter adaptor that will fit in the muzzle of your firearm. Then, screw the adaptor into the small end of the laser emitter using the small screw in the center of the adaptor. As you tighten the screw, the diameter of the adaptor will expand. Once it has expanded to match the diameter of your firearm, push the adaptor and small end of the laser emitter

into the muzzle of your rifle. Make sure that the laser emitter is inserted in until it is snug with the crown of your firearm.

Turn the laser on by rotating the on/off switch (battery cap) clockwise until the small red laser dot is emitted. If you can sight in your gun at 50 to 100 yards, you can adjust your scope's windage and elevation so that your crosshairs aim at the

red dot. If you are sighting in at a shorter distance, simply adjust the point of impact so that the crosshairs compensate for the height of the center of the scope over the barrel. For example, in many typical rifle mounts, the center of the scope is about 1.5 inches above the bore. In this case, you would want the crosshairs to point 1.5 inches above the laser dot. The chart (pg. 3) is a handy tool for this.

AFTER THE FIREARM IS BORESIGHTED, BE SURE TO REMOVE THE BORESIGHTER FROM THE GUN.

Final sighting in must be done at the range. After final sighting in is done, you can use your boresighter to record the actual location of your zero relative to the crosshairs. This is a handy reference if you wish to verify your zero later.

Batteries

Your Bushnell laser boresighter uses three 1.5 volt alkaline or silver oxide batteries, type LR44/SR44, AG13 or A76/S76. To replace them, first fully unscrew the battery cap. Install the batteries in the white plastic sleeve with all of their negative (-) sides up, facing the spring in the cap (positive "flat" side down, towards the arbor end of the boresighter-see photo, right). Replace the cap (be careful not to crossthead).
