How to insert the batteries into the Genie PS 120 sharpener?

Open the battery compartment cover located under the device. Insert 4 AA batteries respecting the indicated polarity (+ and -). Close the cover. Use only the recommended battery type.

How to sharpen a pencil with the small hole?

Insert a pencil with a diameter of 6 to 8 mm into the small hole and push it down. The sharpener starts automatically. Once sharpened, remove the pencil.

How to use the large hole for thick pencils?

Push the safety flap backward to release the large hole. Insert a pencil with a diameter of 9 to 12 mm and sharpen as with the small hole. The flap closes automatically after use.

How to empty the shavings collector container?

Gently press the sides of the transparent container and pull it forward to remove it. Empty it and put it back until it clicks. Empty it when the container is half full.

What to do if the sharpener does not work?

First check that the batteries are properly inserted and charged. If the problem persists, contact customer service. Do not attempt to repair the device yourself.

How to change the sharpener blades?

Slide the blade stoppers upward and remove them. Use a screwdriver to unscrew the used blades. Replace them with new blades (reference not provided). Caution: do not touch the blade with your fingers.

Can I sharpen colored pencils with this sharpener?

Congratulations on your purchase of the GENIE battery operated pencil sharpener. This is a precision instrument designed specifically to provide reliability, durability, and outstanding performance.

In order to ensure the scale continues to deliver peak performance, please read these operation instructions carefully and thoroughly prior to initial usage.

IMPORTANT

1. Place the pencil sharpener on an even surface for a secure stand.
2. The manufacturer does not warrant this unit to be waterproof. Do not expose this product to rain or moisture.
3. Avoid contact with too much dirt and dust as well as impacts.
4. Do not use the sharpener under sun or keep it away from heating appliances such as oven, stove, etc.

Caution! There are different risks involved when dealing with batteries.

• Never attempt to recharge standard batteries, never short circuit batteries and/or open batteries. Doing so leads to a potential risk of overheating, fire or explosion.
• Improper handling of batteries/rechargeable batteries can endanger your health and the environment. Batteries/rechargeable batteries may contain toxic and environmentally harmful heavy metals (Cd = cadmium, Hg = mercury, Pb = lead). Therefore, hand in used batteries at a municipal collection point. Therefore, separate disposal and recycling of spent batteries is essential for the environment and health.

- Ensure the connection terminals are not short-circuited.

- Never throw batteries into a fire or water.

- Never expose batteries to any mechanical loads.

• Leaking batteries could cause damage to the device. If a battery should start to leak, remove it from the device immediately to prevent any further damage. Take the utmost care when handling damaged or leaking batteries and always wear protective gloves.

- Avoid any contact with the skin, eyes and mucous membranes. Rinse any parts of the body which have come into contact with battery acid with plenty of clean water and contact a doctor immediately. Avoid extreme conditions and temperatures which could affect the batteries, e.g. by placing them on radiators or exposing them to direct sunlight.

• Only use batteries of the type specified.
• Never use batteries of different types or new and old batteries together.
• Ensure batteries are inserted with the correct polarity.
• If the device will not be used for a longer period, switch the device off and remove the batteries.

- Remove empty batteries from the device and dispose of them according to the applicable directives.

- The batteries must be removed from the device before its disposal.

- You are legally obliged to dispose of batteries at your dealer or at the collection points provided by the responsible waste disposal authority.

HOW TO USE

1 Insert the battery
Open the battery cover and insert the batteries and close the cover. Pay attention, to the right polarity.
2. Cutting mode small hole
Insert the pencil (6-8mm diameters) in the small hole and press down. The sharpener catches in to work. If the pencil is sharpened pull it out of the hole
3. Cutting mode big hole
Push back the security flap, the big hole is released and the pencil (9-12mm diameters) can be sharpened as described.
4. Container cleaning
Push in the transparent container on both sides firmly and pull it backwards. After cleaning insert the waste box back in place.
5. To the change of the blades push the blade holder upwards and take it out. Now the blades can be changed by a screwdriver.

CAUTION

DO NOT immerse main unit in water while cleaning.

DO NOT use any solvents such as alcohol, benzene or thinner to clean the unit.

Never insert hand or finger into pencil or receptacle tray opening.

• Always empty the pencil shavings when the receptacle is approximately half full.
• When the receptacle is removed, do not touch the cutter.
• Do not attempt to sharpen pencils while the receptacle cover is open.
• If the receptacle breaks, dispose of the entire unit.
