SETTING UP THE DEVICE
Please Note! ■ Do not place the device below kitchen wall units or similar cupboards. The rising steam could cause damage to them! ■ The device may only be operated in a horizontal position, never on its side or tilted.
1. Always set up the closed device with
a clear space at the sides (at least 20 cm) and clear space above it (at least 30cm) on a fl at, solid and heat-re- sistant surface that is resistant to fat splashing.
2. Insert the grill plates (4 and 9) into the
device: To do this, place one grill plate at a slight angle with the recesses into the locking lugs (3 and 8) on the device and press down. The grill plate must engage audibly (Picture C).
3. Insert the fat collecting tray (6) into the
bottom of the housing. FUNCTIONS
START / STOP The device is switched on or off via the fi eld (21). The preheating / grilling process is started or stopped via the fi eld (15).
The grilling process cannot be paused! If it is ended via the fi eld , it has to be completely restarted. PREHEATING The device automatically preheats fi rst on each mode (apart from manual mode), which is indicated by the fi eld (20) fl ashing. The device has only reached the desired temperature for the selected mode once you hear 4 short and 1 long beep. PRESET MODES The device has 6 preset modes (13, 18 and 19) on which the temperature is set automatically. ideal for burgers ideal for grilled chicken, chicken breast fi llets or similar ideal for sandwiches, baguettes or similar15
ideal for all kinds of sausages ideal for all kinds of meat ideal for all types of fi sh that can be grilled
In Meat and Fish modes, the degree of cooking you want must also be chosen before start- ing the grilling process. MANUAL MODE The device also offers the option of setting a manual mode via the fi eld (14) in order, for example, to grill desserts, vege- tables or something else. In this mode, the preheating phase does not take place and the device heats up from room tempera- ture to max. 200°C.
The degree of cooking that you want in modes (19) and (18) must be chosen after fi nishing the preheating via the select degree of cooking fi elds (16): rare – medium – well – well done.
Please bear in mind: This categori- sation relates to a steak that is ap- prox. 4 cm thick (300g) (Picture D). The particular degree of cooking is always dependent on the type, quality, origin and thickness of the chosen food (see also the “Tips and Tricks” chapter). You need to make an adjustment for the individual food and check the cooked result! DEFROSTING To defrost food, you can select the “De- frost” function via the fi eld (12). In this case, the temperature in the device increases slowly from room temperature to no more than 250°C – this ensures that the food defrosts gently.
LED COLOUR COUNTDOWN
The LED colour countdown (17) indicates the progress of the grilling process: green approx. 0 – 25% yellow approx. 25 – 50% orange approx. 50 – 75% red approx. 75 – 100% USE Please Note! ■ The device must not be left unattended during operation! ■ In the interest of your own safety, inspect the device and the connecting cable for damage each time before you use it. ○ Not all meat or fi sh is the same. The fl avour is dependent on lots of different factors – the type, origin, fi shing method, rearing of the animal and so on ... The rule when grilling is therefore: Quality over quantity! As you also can and should enjoy grilled meat and grilled fi sh on its own or with just a few herbs and spices, it is well worth spending a bit more money when you make your choice. ○ The grilled result is also dependent on the size and thickness of the meat or fi sh – here you should always have a look from time to time during the grill- ing process to see whether the chosen settings also perfectly suit this piece of meat or fi sh. ○ When you are grilling round foodstuffs, such as sausages, corn on the cob etc., the grilling process usually takes a little longer owing to the small contact surface. We recommend turning the food 90° one or two times so that it is deliciously seared all the way round. ○ If you are grilling several times in quick succession, we recommend giving the grill plates a rough clean with a brush in between times to prevent any food from burning into them and also pre- vent too much smoke being produced. ○ You should only season meat or fi sh after the grilling process so that the herbs or spices do not burn on the grill and thus alter the fl avour.
CLEANING AND STORAGE
Please Note! ■ No liquid must get into the device. Nev- er immerse the device in water! ■ The device is not dishwasher-safe. ■ Never spray cold water onto the grill plates during or immediately after use of the device. TROUBLESHOOTING If the device does not work properly, check whether you are able to rectify the problem yourself. If the problem cannot be solved with the steps below, contact the custom- er service department. Do not attempt to repair an electri- cal device yourself! The device does not work. The plug socket is defective. ► Try another plug socket. There is no mains voltage. ► Check the fuse of the mains connec- tion. The fuse in the fuse box is triggered. Too many devices connected to the same circuit. ► Reduce the number of devices in the circuit. The device switches off during the grilling process. The device was opened for quite a long time in order for example to test how well cooked the food is. ► Make sure that the device is not opened for too long as it has an auto- matic safety shutoff.
