How to install the REB5 regulator?

Installation must be carried out by qualified personnel. Mount the enclosure on the wall with the cable glands pointing down. Connect the power supply, motor, and ground to the terminal block according to the diagram in the manual. Make sure the switch is in the OFF position before any connection.

How to adjust the minimum motor speed?

Set the external potentiometer to the minimum position, then use a plastic screwdriver to adjust the internal potentiometer (fig. 4) until the motor runs slowly and steadily.

What to do if the motor does not start?

First check that power is present and that the fuse has not blown. Make sure the motor is compatible with the controller (voltage and current). If the problem persists, contact S&P after-sales service.

How to choose between fast and normal start?

The start mode is selected via a jumper on the printed circuit board (fig. 5). Fast start (position A) runs the motor at max speed for 8-10 seconds then returns to the set point. Normal start (position B) starts directly at the requested speed. Use fast mode for motors requiring high starting torque.

Can I use this controller with any single-phase motor?

No, the controller is designed for single-phase voltage regulation motors. Check that the motor's rated voltage and current do not exceed the REB5 specifications (230 V, 5 A max). Motors with auxiliary winding (capacitor type) are generally compatible.

What is the fuse replacement procedure?

Turn off the power supply. Open the enclosure and locate the fuse holder. Replace the fuse with an identical model (type F, rating indicated on the device). Close the enclosure and restore power. Always use a fuse of the same rating.

How to clean the controller?

Disconnect the controller from the mains. Use a dry cloth or slightly damp cloth (water only). Never use solvents or harsh chemicals. Ensure no liquid enters the interior. Reconnect only when the device is completely dry.

What does the indicator light on the switch mean?

The indicator light built into the switch shows that the controller is powered and the switch is in the On position. It allows quick visual indication of the device's operating status.

Is this controller compatible with outdoor installation?

Yes, the IP54 degree of protection makes it suitable for outdoor or humid environments, provided it is mounted with cable glands pointing down and cables are properly sealed. However, avoid direct exposure to weather.

Thank you for placing your confidence in us by purchasing this regulator. It has been manufactured in accordance with current technical safety rules and conform to CE standards. Please read this instruction booklet carefully, as it contains important instructions for your safety during the installation, use and maintenance of this product. Keep it for a possible future reference. Please check the perfect condition of the device when unpacking it, since any original defect is covered by the S&P guarantee.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

• It is recommended that the installation be carried out by specialized personnel.
• It is recommended to always install a suitable motor protection device and follow local rules.
• Check that the number, size and the speed of the fans can be safely controlled by this controller.
• The controller is designed for continuous operation with the maximum rated current intensity load. Ensure that the total intensity of the installation does not exceed the maximum intensity allowed.
• Make sure that the starting current peaks of the motor (s) do not exceed the maximum allowed.
• If the fuse is replaced, it must be of the same type and value.
• Before carrying out any type of manipulation or maintenance, make sure that the regulator and the motor (s) are disconnected from the electrical network.
• It is essential to connect the earth line to the regulator.
• S&P is not responsible for damage caused by faulty installation of the regulator.

MOUNTING

1. Check that the Stop / Run light switch is in the OFF (0) position.
2. Refer to the correct mounting position as indicated in Fig. 1.
3. Remove the case cover by unscrewing the four screws. Note that the potentiometer is connected to the printed circuit by two wires.
4. Mark and drill 4 holes in the wall, according to the dimensions indicated in Fig. 2.
5. Fix the regulator using the 4 dowels and 4 screws provided with the regulator.

CONNECTION

Connect the power cables, motor and ground of the appropriate diameter to the terminal block (Fig. 3).

ADJUSTING AND STARTING THE MOTOR

• Turn the speed remote control to the minimum position and start the regulator.
• Using a plastic screwdriver, turn the internal potentiometer until the motor turns smoothly. (Fig. 4)

• This regulator has two starting modes for the motor, which are selected internally by putting or removing the jumper indicated in Figure 5.

• Quick" Start (Figure 5.A): the motor starts at full speed for 8-10 seconds. The motor speed is then automatically adjusted according to the position of the speed remote control.

• “Normal” start (Figure 5.B): the motor starts directly according to the position of the remote control.

Once adjusted, close the box, replace the 4 screws and check that the installation works correctly as follows:

• Let the motor cool down.
• Turn the speed remote control to the minimum position.
• Start the regulator and if the motor can start, the regulator is properly adjusted.

MAINTENANCE

• Before carrying out any type of manipulation or maintenance, make sure that the regulator and the motor are disconnected from the electrical network.
• Regulators do not require maintenance under normal conditions
• If it gets dirty, wipe it with a dry cloth or slightly dampened with water, never use aggressive products.
• Be careful not to let liquids get inside the regulator
• Reconnect the controller to the power supply only when it is completely dry.
