How do I charge my battery with the Artic 8000?

First connect the charger to the battery (clamps or terminals), then to the mains socket. The screen shows the voltage. Select the charging mode with the button, charging starts automatically. Once finished, first disconnect the charger from the mains, then remove the connections.

Which charging mode should I choose for my battery?

Use Slow mode (2A) for batteries under 15 Ah. Fast mode (8A) is suitable for batteries from 15 to 160 Ah (up to 240 Ah in maintenance). Cold mode (14.7V) is recommended when temperatures are below 5°C or for certain AGM batteries with fill caps.

What do error codes F1, F2, F3, F4 mean?

F1: short-circuit, open circuit or polarity reversal. Check connections. F2: disconnection of clamps during charging. F3: battery voltage too high (check that it is a 12V battery). F4: battery out of service or too low.

Can I charge a car battery in winter?

Yes, use Cold mode (14.7V/8A) if the temperature is below 5°C. This mode compensates for the voltage drop due to cold and ensures efficient charging.

How long does it take to charge a battery?

The time depends on the capacity and the mode. For example, a 50 Ah battery goes from 20% to 80% in about 5 hours in Fast mode (8A). Refer to the charging time table in the manual.

Is the charger suitable for GEL or AGM batteries?

Yes, the Artic 8000 is compatible with GEL, AGM, WET, MF and Calcium batteries. Standard Fast mode is suitable, but for some AGM batteries, Cold mode (14.7V) may be preferable.

What to do if the charger does not turn on?

Check the mains socket and that the power cable is not damaged. If the problem persists, contact customer service. Do not attempt to repair it yourself.

Can I leave the charger plugged in permanently?

Yes, the charger has a maintenance charge mode for batteries up to 240 Ah. It monitors and maintains the charge without risk of overcharging.

How to maintain the charger?

Unplug it before cleaning. Use a dry cloth. Do not immerse in water. Have the power cable replaced only by a qualified professional.

What to do in case of failure?

Return the device to your distributor with proof of purchase and an explanatory note. The 2-year warranty covers manufacturing defects. Do not attempt to disassemble the charger.

This manual contains safety and operating instructions. Read it carefully before using the device for the first time and keep it in a safe place for future reference. This machine should only be used for charging operations comprised within the limits indicated on the machine and in the instruction manual. The operator must respect the safety precautions. In case of inedqaate or unsafe use, the manufacturer cannot be held liable.

This unit can be used by children aged of at least 8 years and by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience or knowledge, if they are properly monitored or if instructions for using the equipment safely was given to them and if they have been made aware of the risks. Children must no play with the product. Cleaning and maintenance should not be performed by unsupervised children.

Do not use to charge small batteries or non rechargeable batteries.

The operating mode of the automatic charger and the restrictions applicable to its use are explained below in this manual.

A charging battery can emit explosive gases.

• During the charge, the battery must be placed in a well ventilated area.
• Avoid flames and sparks. Do not smoke.

Connection/disconnection:

• Ensure that the charger's power supply is disconnected before plugging or unplugging the connections on the battery.
• Always ensure the Red clamp is connected to the «+» battery terminal first. If it is necessary to connect the black clamp to the vehicle chassis, make sure it is a safe distance from the battery and the fuel/exhaust pipe. The charger must be connected to the mains.
• After charging, disconnect the charger from the mains, then disconnect the clamp from the car body and then disconnect the clamp from the battery, in the indicated order.

• If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its after sales service or an equally qualified person to prevent danger.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The ARTIC 8000 charger is ideal to charge most lead-acid batteries, often used for cars and many other vehicles. The ARTIC can be used safely for: GEL (gel electrolyte), AGM (Absorbant Glass Mat), WET, MF (Maintenance Free), CA (Calcium)...

The ARTIC 8000 charger is designed for charging 12V batteries (6 x 2V elements) from 4 Ah to 160 Ah et up to 240 Ah for a maintenance charge.

START UP

1. Connect the charger to the battery using the proper accessory (clamps, lugs, etc...).
2. Plug the charger to the mains (single phase 220-240Vac 50-60Hz). The display shows the battery voltage.
3. Select the mode by pressing button , the charge starts automatically.
4. During the charge, the device indicates the voltage and the charge progress using the symbol When the battery is fully charged, the symbol is displayed.
5. The charge can be interrupted at any time by unplugging the mains plug or pressing the button.
6. After the charge, disconnect the charger from the mains, then disconnect the charger's connections from the battery.

CHARGE MODES

- Modes description :

CHARGE mode «SLOW» 12V (14.4 V / 2 A) :

This mode limits the charging current to 2 A to safely charge small batteries. Activate this option to charge small batteries (< 15 Ah).

CHARGE mode «FAST» 12V (14.4 V / 8 A) :

This mode is designed for lead-acid batteries, 12V from 15 Ah to 160 Ah and up to 240 Ah for floating charge.

CHARGE mode 12V COLD option (14.7 V / 8 A) :

This mode modifies the charging voltage at 14.7V to charge the battery during cold weather (less than 5^ ) or for some AGM batteries or batteries with caps.
