Frequently Asked Questions - TG715 Texas

How to start the TG715 engine?
Open the fuel valve. On a cold engine, open the choke. Turn the throttle to full gas. Pull the starter rope slowly until you feel resistance, then pull quickly and firmly. For the 230V electric starter, plug in the cord and press the red button.
How to stop the engine?
Place the throttle in low position; the engine stops. Then close the fuel valve.
What type of fuel to use?
Use only unleaded 95 octane petrol. Never overfill the tank (capacity 3.6 L).
How to check the oil level?
Place the engine horizontally. Remove the oil filler cap. The level should be visible and flush with the edge of the filler hole.
When and how to change the oil?
Change every 20 operating hours. Run the engine for 5 minutes to warm the oil. Unscrew the drain plug (figure 6.1) and let the oil drain into a container. Screw the plug back in and fill with 0.6 L of SAE30 or 10W-40 oil.
How to clean the air filter?
Remove the cover, nut, then the air filter. Clean it by tapping gently or with compressed air. Clean the foam element with petrol or kerosene, dry it, then dip it in fresh oil and squeeze out excess. Reassemble. Important: never oil the paper air filter element.
How to check and clean the spark plug?
Remove the cap and clean the spark plug with a wire brush. Check the electrode gap: it should be 0.7 to 0.8 mm. If the plug is damaged, replace it with an F7RTC/20EPR-U.
How to transport and store the engine?
For transport, place the engine horizontally to avoid leaks. For storage, let the engine run until fuel is exhausted, drain the carburetor, remove the spark plug and add a tablespoon of oil into the cylinder, then reinstall the plug without the protector. Pull the starter rope until resistance to close the valves. Coat the engine with a thin layer of anti-corrosion oil.
What to do if the engine produces black smoke?
Black smoke indicates overload or incorrect adjustment. Stop the engine immediately, check the air filter and carburetor adjustment. If the problem persists, contact an authorized garage.
What are the essential safety precautions?
Always use the engine outdoors or in a well-ventilated area, as exhaust gases are toxic. Do not touch moving parts or the exhaust while running (risk of burns). Never refuel while the engine is running and do not consume alcohol or drugs before using the engine.

PROCEDURE

  1. Open the fuel tap.
  2. On a cold engine open the choker. Note: By a hot engine choke is not required.
  3. Turn the engine's gas control lever on full gas (If the engine is mounted on a machine with cable-regulated gas, full gas is given).

  4. Turn the throttle cable to "start position".

  5. Pull the recoil starter gently until you feel resistance in the rope. Then pull quickly and energetic. Do not at any time let go of the recoil starter but slide it gently back and pull again.

  6. For 230V electric starter. Plug the cord into the power socket and to the electrical socket on the engine and press the red start button in order to start the engine. After the engine is started remove the plug from the socket and the outlet of the engine.

  7. Regulate the choker until the engine is running smoothly.

See fig. 1, 2, 3, 4.

3. Operation

OPERATION

  1. When the engine has been started move the choke gradually to the right.
  2. Adjust the gas to the requested speed.

See fig. 2.

NOTE

Please observe the following during operation.

  • Exhaustion must not be black. If the exhaustion smoke is black, the load is too high or the engine has not been adjusted correctly.
    Unpleasant sound and vibration.
  • If these appear turn off the engine and ad just it. Contact your dealer

4. Stopping the engine

PROCEDURE

  1. Turn the gas control to position "Low" and engine will stop running.
  2. Turn the fuel tap to the "off" position

See fig. 3.

5. Fuel

FUEL

Only use unleaded fuel octane 95 on your engine. Don't overfill the capacity of the fuel tank. The indicator on the tank shows how much fuel is left

See fig 7

6. Oil / changing oil

OIL

OIL CAPACITY

  • Always check the oil level when the engine is placed in a horizontal position.
    • Always check the oil level visible and to edge of fill hole

See fig. 5.

Change the oil according to the specifications of the machine.

  1. Let the engine run 5 minutes, so the engine is hot.
Warm oil liquefies, which makes it easier to drain the oil.
  2. Unscrew the drain plug (Fig 6.1) and let the warm oil run out of the engine.
Remember to keep an appropriate container ready.
  3. Attach the drain plug and fasten.

Refilling oil (Fig 5)

  1. Remove the oil filler cap
  2. Refill the oil to the edge of the filling hole (see capacity above)

Important: Before changing oil, ensure that the engine is level position.

Important: By the right amount oil the oil MUST be visible and to edge of fill hole

Please dispose the used engine oil environmentally correct. We suggest that you keep the used oil in a sealed container and dispose at your recycling center or service station for reclamation. Do not throw it in the waste; pour it on the ground; or down a drain.

AIR FILTER

The air filter should be inspected and cleaned regularly. If the filter has not been cleaned for a long period of time, this will influence the engine's combustion and engine power.

  1. Remove the nut, washer and gasket (Figure 8.A,B,C) and remove cover (Fig 8.D).
  2. Remove the nut (Fig 8.E) and remove the gasket (Figure 8.F)
  3. Clean the air filter (Fig 8.G) before being removed.
  4. Now carefully remove the air filter (Fig 8.G) out of the foam element (Fig 8.H)
  5. Inspect and remove the dust from the air filter by tapping the element easily a few times. Alternatively run compressed air through the inside of the filter. Warning! Never try to brush away the dust. A brush will only push the dust further into the element. Replace the air filter if it is very dirty.
  6. Inspect and clean the foam element (Fig 8.H) with petrol or kerosene
  7. Wrench the foam element (Fig 8.H) and let it dry. Hereafter soak the element in fresh oil, squeeze any redundant oil out of the element.
  8. Clean the lid (Fig 8.1)
  9. Reattach the foam element (Fig 8.H) and the air filter (Fig 8.G) and fasten.
  10. Please note that all parts are assembled correctly. (See Fig. 8)

IMPORTANT: Under no circumstances should oil be applied on the air filter (Fig.8G).

  2. Secure with nut (Fig 8.E). Note: It is important that it fasten tightly.
  3. Insert the cover (Fig 8.D) Mount gasket and washer (Fig 8.B and C) then fasten with a nut (Fig. 8.A).

Ensure that all parts are correctly fitted, this is to prevent that no air will get into the engine.

PROCEDURE

  • Remove the sparking plug cover.
  • Brush off dirt from the sparking plug.
  • Use a sparking-plug wrench to loosen the sparking plug.
  • Inspect if the isolation is intact.
  • Clean the sparking plug with a steel brush.
  • Measure the electrode distance; make sure not to damage the electrode.
    • The distance should be: 0,7 – 0,8 mm
  • If the sparking plug is okay, put it back in its place.
  • Put the sparking plug cover back in its place.
