immediately before use.

damage, do not operate it. Contact our customer service organisation instead.

OPERATION OF THE APPLIANCE

Filling the water tank

1. Take the lid off of the water tank.

2. Fill the water tank with fresh, cold water to the desired fill level. For orien-

tation, there is a scale with cup markings on the water tank.

3. Carefully close the lid of the water tank.

4. Make sure that the side of the lid with the steam exhaust opening points to

the back. For orientation the lid is labelled. The side with the word “Back” must point to the back, the side with the word “Front” to the front. Copyright UNOLD AG | www.unold.de UNOLD ©26 von 84 Stand 29.4.2021

5. Note: You can also put in more water than needed. The electronic control

unit ensures that only the amount of water needed for the number of cups is used. Never switch on the appliance if there is no water in the tank. Such use could damage the appliance. It is also important never to overfill the water tank (i.e. beyond the maximum mark), since the water would then boil over.

6. A small amount of water can evaporate during the brewing process, resulting

in fluctuation in the quantity of brewed coffee. Removing water

7. To remove remaining water from the tank, place the glass pot on the war-

ming plate, close the filter holder and plug in the appliance. Then press and hold the “Menu” button for at least 6 seconds. The valve in the water tank will open and 2–3 cups of water will flow into the glass pot. If there is more water in the tank, repeat the process until the water tank is completely empty. Adding ground coffee

8. Pull the handle of the filter holder to

remove it from the appliance (note the “Open” mark on the filter holder).

9. Fold the paper 1x4 filter on the bottom

and place the filter in the filter holder. Make sure that the paper filter does not protrude beyond the edge of the filter holder.

10. Spoon the desired quantity of ground

coffee into the paper filter. We recommend 5–7 g (about 1 measuring spoon) of medium ground coffee per cup. Coffee that is ground too fine can clog the pores in the filter, which can cause the coffee maker to overflow.

11. Push the filter holder back into the appliance, making sure that it clicks

into place. Brewing coffee

12. Place the glass coffee pot with the lid closed on the warming plate.

13. Plug the power cord of the appliance into an electrical outlet (220–240 V~

14. A short signal sounds, and “10” appears on the display. Important note:

15. Press the “Menu” button to select the desired number of cups, between

17. The display shows the current water temperature, and the bars in the symbol

flash to indicate that the water is heating.

18. The pre-brewing phase starts as soon as the water reaches a temperature

of 95°C. Hot water drips onto the ground coffee for about 6 seconds. The coffee swells, which enhances the aroma of the brewed coffee. A signal sounds, and the appliance pauses briefly, while the ground coffee swells.

19. Afterwards, another signal sounds, and the actual brewing process starts.

The remaining time is shown on the display, depending on the number of cups: Number of cups Total brewing time in minutes 10 02:46 8 02:23 6 02:03 4 01:33 2 01:03

20. As soon as the brewing time has elapsed, the warming time of 30 minutes

starts. This time is likewise shown in the display. 30 minutes after brewing is finished the appliance returns to standby mode. To completely switch off the appliance, press and hold the “Start/Stop” button until a signal sounds and the display is completely blank.

21. Note: You can switch off the appliance at any time by pressing the “Start/

Stop” button for at least 5 seconds. To switch it back on, press the “Start/ Stop” button again for at least 5 seconds.

Allow the appliance to cool before cleaning it. Before cleaning, always turn off the appliance and unplug it from the electrical outlet.

1. Remove the filter holder from the appliance. Remove the paper filter with the

coffee grounds. Dispose of the paper filter together with the coffee grounds.

2. Do not immerse the appliance in water or another liquids.

3. The removable parts, such as the glass pot and lid, can be washed in warm

water with a mild washing-up liquid, or in the dishwasher. We recommend cleaning these parts by hand. Cleaning them in the dishwasher can cause discolouration of the plastic parts. Discolouration does not affect the quality of the coffee nor the proper functioning of the appliance and is not a ground for complaint.

4. The lid of the glass pot can be removed for cleaning. Hold the lid vertically

and tilt it carefully to one side so that the retaining lug slides out of the slot. Reverse the sequence to put the lid back on.

5. Wipe off the outside of the appliance with a soft, damp cloth and dry it

6. Do not use any aggressive or scouring cleaners to the clean the appliance

23. You can remove the glass pot at any time during the brewing process. The

drip stop prevents residual coffee from dripping out of the filter. In this case, set the glass pot on the warming plate immediately, so that brewing can continue and the filter does not overflow.

24. After pouring out all of the coffee and emptying the pot completely, do not

place the empty glass pot on the hot warming plate.

25. Note: If the appliance aborts the brewing process, the appliance must be

descaled. For more information, see the section on “Descaling”. The appliance is very hot during and after operation! Copyright UNOLD AG | www.unold.de UNOLD ©Stand 29.4.2021 29 von 84

Allow the appliance to cool before descaling.

1. Descale your coffee maker on a regular basis, depending on the frequency

of use and local hardness of the water, to extend the service life of the appliance and to keep power consumption to a minimum.

2. If the appliance switches off before the end of the warming period or if water

remains in the water tank after brewing, it is strongly recommended that the appliance be descaled. Use a standard descaling product for household appliances (observe the manufacturer’s information!). If necessary repeat the descaling procedure.

3. Do not fill the water tank past the mark for 2–4 cups, to prevent the descaling

solution from boiling over.

4. Fill the water tank with descaling solution, following the manufacturer’s

6. After completion of brewing, press the “Start/Stop” button for 5 seconds to

prevent the appliance from switching to the warming phase.

7. In case of severe build-up, allow the descaling solution to soak for a while

before starting the brewing process.

8. After descaling allow the appliance to cool. Thereafter, let the maximum

fill quantity of cold water flow through the coffee maker at least twice to eliminate all descaler residues, if not descaler residues could impair the coffee flavour. DESCALING Copyright UNOLD AG | www.unold.de UNOLD ©30 von 84 Stand 29.4.2021
