1. Before you use this product

  • Please make sure you read the instruction manual carefully. This information will help you to familiarize yourself with your new device, to learn all of its functions and parts, to find out important details about its first use and how to operate it and to get advice in the event of a malfunction.

3. Range of application and all the benefits of your new instrument at a glance

  • This product is exclusively intended for the range of application described above. It should only be used as described within these instructions.
  • Unauthorized repairs, alterations or changes to the product are prohibited. Caution! Risk of injury:
  • Keep these devices and the batteries out of reach of children.
  • Batteries contain harmful acids and may be hazardous if swallowed. If a battery is swallowed, this can lead to serious internal burns and death within two hours. If you suspect a battery could have been swallowed or otherwise caught in the body, seek medical help immediately.
  • Batteries must not be thrown into a fire, short-circuited, taken apart or recharged. Risk of explo- sion!
  • Low batteries should be changed as soon as possible to prevent damage caused by leaking. Never use a combination of old and new batteries together, nor batteries of different types.
  • Wear chemical-resistant protective gloves and safety glasses when handling leaking batteries. Important information on product safety!
  • Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, vibrations or shocks.
  • Protect the base station from moisture.
  • The transmitters are splashproof, but not watertight. When placed outdoors, choose a shady and dry place for the transmitter.

5.1 Base station (Receiver)

5.2 Transmitter (Fig. 4):

  • Place the instruments on a table at a distance of about 1.5 meters from each other. Avoid being close to possible sources of interference such as electronic devices and radio equipment. TRIO – Wireless thermometer

6.1 Installation of the transmitter

1. Open the screwed battery compartment of the first transmitter.

2. To set the first transmitter to channel 1, slide down the switches 1, 2 and 3.

4. Insert two new AAA 1.5 V batteries, polarity as illustrated. The measured temperature and the

channel number 1 appear on the display.

5. Close the battery compartment again.

  • If you want to connect more transmitters, repeat steps 1 to 5. The correct switch position for the transmitters 1-8 can be found on the table. 2 transmitters are included in this set, the base station can support up to 8 transmitters (optional).

6.2 Installation of the base station

  • Open the battery compartment of the base station and insert four new AAA 1.5V batteries, polarity as illustrated.
  • All segments will be displayed briefly.
  • Close the battery compartment again. Switch Function
  • The measurements of the installed transmitters will be sent to the base station. The reception symbol appears.
  • If the reception is successful, the temperature and the maximum and minimum values of the respective transmitter appear on the display.
  • The reception symbol disappears.
  • In the display section 3 appear automatically the measured internal values.
  • If no values are received from a channel or no transmitter is installed, “- -” appears on the dis- play. Check the batteries and try it again. Check if there is any source of interference.
  • You can also start the initialization manually.
  • Press the CHANNEL/+ button until an arrow appears next to the desired channel. If you want to search for all installed transmitters, select the internal sensor (IN).
  • Press and hold the CHANNEL/+ button for three seconds.
  • The reception symbol appears.
  • The base station will scan the measurements.

6.3 Additional transmitters

  • If you have more than two transmitters installed, the measurements for transmitter 3-8 appear on the display section 3.
  • Press the CHANNEL/+ button to select the display section 3. The arrow appears on the corre- sponding display section.
  • Press the CHANNEL/+ button to change between the installed transmitters.
  • Press the button again after the last registered channel and a circle symbol will appear. In the display section 3, the values of the internal sensor and of transmitters 3-8 are displayed in sequence. To deactivate the function press the button again.
  • The measured internal values appear again on the display.
  • Press and hold the ALARM/SET button to change between °C (Celsius) or °F (Fahrenheit) as temperature unit. TRIO – Wireless thermometer
  • Press the CHANNEL/+ button until the arrow appears on the desired channel.
  • Press and hold the CLEAR/– button to delete the maximum and minimum values of the currently selected channel.
  • The device will automatically quit the setting mode if no button is pressed for a long period of time.
  • In setting mode, press and hold the CLEAR/– or the CHANNEL/+ button for a fast mode.
  • The temperature alarm can be set for channels 1 and 2 only.
  • Press the CHANNEL/+ button until the arrow appears on the desired channel (1 or 2).
  • Press and hold the ALARM/SET button for 3 seconds.
  • Confirm the setting with the ALARM/SET button.
  • 0,6°C (default channel 1, channel 2: -30°C) or the last adjusted lower temperature limit flashes on the display.
  • Press the CHANNEL/+ or CLEAR/– button to adjust the desired lower temperature limit.
  • Confirm the setting with the ALARM/SET button.
  • Press the ALARM/SET button after setting the values to activate the alarm function.
  • The alarm symbol appears.

7.3.2 Delete the alarm

  • Press the CHANNEL/+ button until the arrow appears on the desired channel.
  • Press the ALARM/SET button to deactivate the alarm function.
  • The alarm symbol disappears.
  • Press the ALARM/SET button to show the set upper alarm limits (channel 1 and 2).

7.3.4 In case of alarm

  • In case of an alarm, the corresponding symbol will be flashing and an alarm tone will sound. Stop the alarm tone with any button.
  • Please note: When a measured value exceeds or falls below the alarm value, an alarm will sound after 10 minutes.

8. Positioning and mounting of the base station and the transmitters

  • The base station can be placed onto any flat surface (foldout stand) or wall mounted (mounting hole) at your chosen location. Make sure you avoid the vicinity of any source of interference such as computer screens, TV sets or solid metal objects.
  • The transmitter can be wall mounted (mounting hole at the back). When placed outdoors, choose a shady and dry place for the transmitter. Direct sunlight may trigger incorrect measure- ment and continuous humidity damages the electronic components needlessly.
  • The waterproof cable sensor is ideal for the temperature control of the refrigerator, freezer, aquarium, pool and pond. Place the cable with the sensing element at the desired location.
  • Once the desired location is chosen, check whether the transmission from the transmitter to the base station is possible (transmission range of up to 100m in open areas). Within solid walls, especially ones with metal parts, the transmission range can be reduced considerably.
  • If necessary choose another position for the transmitter and/or base station. 9.Care and maintenance
  • Clean the devices with a soft damp cloth. Do not use solvents or scouring agents.
  • Remove the batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period of time.
  • Store the devices in a dry place.

9.1 Battery replacement

  • When the battery symbol appears on a channel display, change the batteries of the respective transmitter.
  • Change the batteries of the base station, when the battery symbol appears on the display of the indoor values.
  • Please note: When the batteries are changed, the contact between the transmitter and the base station must be restored – so always insert new batteries into both devices or start a manual transmitter search. TRIO – Wireless thermometer

11. Calibration function

  • The radio-controlled thermometer allows the user to calibrate the temperature measurements on the base station with an external, better reference source. The user can make adjustments to the temperature display within the measuring range.

11.1 Calibration of the temperature display

  • Press the CHANNEL/+button until the arrow appears next to the desired channel.
  • Press the ALARM/SET and the CHANNEL/+ button at the same time for 5 seconds.
  • The temperature display flashes.
  • Press the CHANNEL/+ or the CLEAR/– button to correct the temperature display.
