Safety warnings

1. This appliance is intended for indoor use.
2. The appliance is not suitable for sheds, stables or similar locations where the air is humid and acidity. This can affect the materials.
3. Connect the appliance only to suitable socket that provides 220/240V 50Hz .
4. Do not use the appliance in areas that contain explosive or flammable gases, vapours and liquids or similar materials e.g., not in garages. 8. Make sure you never touch the high-voltage grid while it operates: not with your fingers, a pen, a piece of paper or any other object. This can cause an electric shock and perhaps fire! Never stick any objects into the appliance through the safety grid.
9. Ensure careful supervision when the appliance is used in the presence of children, incapacitated persons or pets. The appliance is not suitable for use by people (including children) with physical, sensory or mental disabilities. It is also not suitable for use by people who lack knowledge and experience, regardless of whether there is supervision or instructions given (prior to use) by a person responsible for their safety.
10. You must supervise that children do not play with the appliance. The grid is under high voltage!
11. Place the appliance out of children's reach. Danger! High voltage!
12. Remove the plug from the socket before cleaning the appliance. Use a suitable brush (not a metal brush) to clean the high-voltage grid and throw away the dead insects in the collection tray at least once a week.

Operating principle

The electronic insect killers Fly Away 7-Oval and Fly Away 11-Oval attract small flies and flying biting insects to their ultra-violet light. On their way to the lamp, the insects fly against an electrically charged grid which destroys them quickly, hygienically and painlessly. They then fall into a removable receptacle on the underside of the apparatus.

Placement

When placing and installing the insect-killer, it is important to take the location of the device in the room/space into account.

1. Place the insect-killer centrally in the room; that way, the ultraviolet light can be dispersed better and attract insects from the entire area.
2. Place the insect-killer onr a wall or in a corner if the room/area is not very large.
3. The best height for the insect-killer is 1.5 to 2 metres off the ground, which is the most common flying height for insects.
4. The insect-killer can be suspended from a chain or placed on a surface such as a table or cabinet. Make sure it is on a good stable base.
5. Install your insect-killer in a relatively dark place: not in direct sunlight (windows, doors), because bright sunlight weakens the insect-killer's radiation power. Artificial light does not weaken the radiation, but makes it work less well.

6. Do not place the insect killer in the draft. Insects avoid drafts / air flows. Placing the insect killer in the draft flow will therefore not be effective.

Use

Remove all the packing materials and keep it away from children. Make sure that all materials are removed. Hang the device from its suspension ring or stand it on a safe, stable base. Never hang it from its electrical lead! Make sure that the device is out of the reach of children. The device will start to operate as soon as you plug it in. Plug it into a 220-240V wall socket. The electrical mains to which you connect the device should have an earth-leakage switch. Before moving, cleaning or doing any maintenance on the device, always first make sure that it is unplugged!

Cleaning

Regularly clean the device and the high-voltage grid in particular. Not cleaning the grid regularly can cause the device to malfunction. Never touch the apparatus when in operation, despite the harmless tension. Always unplug first! Discharge static electricity prior to cleaning or replacing bulb, by touching the grid with an insulated screwdriver. Remove the dead insects weekly. To do this, open the collection tray, clean and return the tray. Dead insects can be removed from the grate and the bulb with a small brush. Prick the brush for that at several places through the plastic housing.

Removal

In the EU this symbol indicates that this product may not be disposed of as ordinary household waste. Old equipment contains valuable materials, suitable for recycling. These materials should be made suitable for reuse in order to prevent any adverse effects to health and the environment caused by unregulated waste collection. Therefore, please make sure that you bring old equipment to a designated collection point. Alternatively, contact the original supplier, who can make sure that as many of the components as possible can be recycled.
