CONTENTS Notice: This restraint system for children has been approved under the R129 standard for use by children from 100 to 150 cm tall. Do not leave the child unattended in the vehicle. Read all instructions carefully otherwise the child’s safety may be compromised. Incorrect installation of the child restraint system may have serious consequences for the child. In case of incorrect installation, the manufacturer is in no way responsible. WARNINGS: IMPORTANT NOTICE
1. This is an advanced restraint system for children classied as an “i-Size” booster
seat. It is approved under the R129 standard for use in vehicles on seats “compatible with i-Size systems”, as indicated in the car manual by the vehicle manufacturer. If in doubt, contact the manufacturer of the child restraint system or the retailer.
2. Sill i-Size should be installed in the direction of travel with FIX anchorage in a vehicle
equipped with ISOFIX anchor points, with a three-point seat belt approved under UN/ECE R16 or similar.
3. If the vehicle is not equipped with ISOFIX anchorage, Skill i-Size can be installed in
the direction of travel with a three-point seat belt, approved under UN/ECE R16 or similar.
4. Skill i-Size is approved for children from 100 to 150 cm tall, in the direction of travel.
5. When used for children from 135 to 150 cm tall, Skill i-Size may not be suitable for all
cars, especially vehicles with a lower roof at the sides. WARNINGS NOTICE! REMOVE AND DISPOSE OF ANY PLASTIC BAGS AND PACKAGING BEFORE USE AND KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. This restraint system complies with ECE R129/03, approved for children from 100 to 150 cm, in the direction of travel.
- Never leave your child unattended in the car.

- WARNING: Do not t the child car seat in a rearward facing position
- WARNING: Before installing the child car seat ensure that the passenger seat you are using is locked in the upright position.
- WARNING: Do not use the child car seat in the home - it has only been designed to be used in the car.
- WARNING: Do not leave loose/unsecured objects on the back seat of your car or the parcel shelf. They may be dangerous to your child if you are forced to brake suddenly.
WHEN USING THE CHILD CAR SEAT
- WARNING: Make sure that the child car seat is placed somewhere so that rigid items and plastic parts do not become trapped in doors or movable seat units when the seat is in everyday use.
- WARNING: Always use the vehicle’s door child safety lock system, if one is available, to make it impossible for the child to open the car doors from inside.
- WARNING: Allow the child a break during long car journeys and make sure they don’t get out of the car seat unaided and without supervision.
- Do not leave your child unsupervised in a child restraint device.
- The car seat must only be installed on the passenger seats
- WARNING: The child car seat must be tted securely to the passenger seat. Ensure that it is not loose or wobbly after you have tted it. If it is loose, ret it.
- WARNING: Ensure that the child car seat is secured to the car seat at all times even when not in use.
- Attach the car seat using FIX connectors or a seat belt even when not in use.
- Do not use the child restraint device without the cover.
- WARNING: The seat cover should not be replaced with any other than the one recommended by the manufacturer, because the cover constitutes an integral part of the restraint performance.
- WARNING: Stop the car at regular intervals to check that the child car seat is in the correct position and that both the car seatbelt AND the child car seat harness (if required) are still fastened and latched.
- WARNING: In the event of an emergency it is important to be able to release the child quickly (as dened by British Standards). This means that seat buckle cannot be fully tamper proof and you should actively discourage your child from playing with or using the buckle.
- WARNING: Do not place anything under the child car seat (e.g. a towel or cushion) as this could affect the performance of the seat in an accident. WARNINGS• ENGLISH •
- Do not use cushions, blankets or similar to raise the car seat or the child: the car seat may not function correctly in case of an accident.
- WARNING: Avoid winter clothing bundling Bulky clothing can lead to incorrect harness tightening. In an accident, the child can slip right out of the extra padding - and thus out of the seat. Let the car warm up or cool down prior to placing your child in there if possible. If your child is cold, place a blanket over the top of the harness..
- WARNING: Make sure to properly secure any loose objects, such as luggage or books, in your car as they may cause injuries in the event of an accident.
- Do not leave unsecured luggage on the parcel shelf: in the event of an accident this could cause serious harm to passengers.
- It is danger to make any alterations or additions to the device without the approval of the Type Approval Authority, and is also danger not following closely the installation instructions
- Do not make changes or additions to the car seat without approval from the manufacturer.
- Do not install accessories, spare parts or components on this car seat that have not been supplied or approved by the manufacturer.
- Every country has different safety laws and regulations for the transport of children by car.
- It is recommended to contact the local authorities for more information.
- Do not remove stickers and labels from the seat cover as this may damage the cover.
- The product is intended for use as a car seat only and is not for use at home.
- The FOPPAPEDRETTI company declines all responsibility for improper use of the product and for any use that does not comply with these instructions.
- Do not let other children play with components and parts of the car seat.
- Do not carry more than one child in the seat at a time.
- Ensure that vehicle seats (folding or rotating) are properly secured.
- WARNING! When adjusting the seat (the headrest or backrest), make sure that the moving parts of the car seat do not come into contact with your child’s body.
- WARNING: NEVER use any load bearing contact points other than those described in these instructions or marked on the child car seat.
- Any straps holding the restraint to the vehicle should be tight; restraining the child should be adjusted to the child’s body, and should not be twisted. It is important to ensure that any lap strap is worn low down, so that the pelvis is rmly engaged, shall be stressed.
- WARNING: Make sure that ALL the passengers in your vehicle have their seatbelts fastened, as unrestrained people can be very dangerous to the child in an accident.
- Set a good example yuorself and always wear your seat belt.
- WARNING: NEVER use a seatbelt routing scheme that differs from these instructions.
- WARNING: The lap and diagonal seatbelt must be used at all times when your child is in the child car seat.
- WARNING: Make sure that there are no twists in the seatbelt.
- WARNING: Do not place luggage on the parcel shelf without securing it: in the event of an accident it could cause serious damage to passengers.
- Tell your child that he/she should be never play with the belt buckle. Check periodically that the child cannot open the seat belt buckle or manipulate the seat or parts of the seat.
- WARNING: Do not leave your child in the child car seat while parked in direct sunlight or on a hot day.
- WARNING: Do not subject the child car seat to prolonged direct sunlight as this may be dangerous for your child (the metal and plastic ttings could become hot) and may cause the fabric to fade. You can reduce this problem by covering the child car seat with a sheet when not in use. SECOND HAND OR DAMAGED CHILD CAR SEATS AND SEATBELTS
- WARNING: Never buy a second hand child car seat. It may have unseen damage.
- WARNING: The manufacturer only guarantees this product when the original owner uses it.
- WARNING: You MUST replace the child car seat and your vehicles seatbelts if they become badly worn or amaged.
- WARNING: You MUST replace the child car seat if it is involved in an accident it may have unseen damage and may not protect your child as well as it should. At the very least send the child car seat to your retailer for inspection, together with the accident report. The product may have internal damage that is not visible which could compromise the child’s safety.• ENGLISH •

LIMITATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS FOR USE OF THE CAR SEAT AND THE VEHICLE SEAT IMPORTANT NOTICE This is an advanced restraint system for children classied as an “i-Size” booster seat. It is approved under the R129 standard for use in vehicles on seats “compatible with i-Size systems”, as indicated in the car manual by the vehicle manufacturer. If in doubt, contact the manufacturer of the child restraint system or the retailer. This restraint system for children is classied for “i-Size & Specic Vehicle” use and is suitable for installation on the seats in the positions indicated. WARNING! The following limitations and requirements for use relating to the car seat and the vehicle seat must be strictly followed, otherwise safety is not guaranteed. The child must be from 100 to 150 cm tall. The child seat is approved for 2 different methods of installations: A. With vehicle’s 3-point safety belt in combination with smart FIX connectors locking into vehicle’s ISOFIX lower anchorages. B. With vehicle’s 3-point safety belt. It is recommended to use the car seat with FIX connectors if the vehicle is equipped with ISOFIX anchorage.

1. Only use the car seat in the direction of travel. Positioning the car seat on the front
passenger seat is not recommended.
2. This car seat can only be installed if the suitable vehicles are equipped with 3-point
safety belts, approved according to UN/ECE R16 or other equivalent standards.
3. Do not use with a two-point safety belt under any circumstances.
Ensure that you have correctly attached the vehicle’s three-point safety belt. Check that both FIX connectors are properly attached to the anchorage points. Both Smart Fix indicators are green WARNING! When used in vehicles equipped with rear seat belts with integrated airbags (inatable belts), follow the car manufacturer’s instruction manual.
- Never use this seat on side-facing seats or in the opposite direction of travel.
- WARNING! It is recommended to install the car seat on the rear seats because, based on accident statistics, they are considered safer. It is recommended to place the car seat in the centre rear seat if equipped with a three-point safety belt.
- If the car seat is positioned on the front seat, for greater safety, it is recommended to move the vehicle seat back as far as possible, if feasible with the presence of other passengers in the rear seat and to adjust the backrest to the most upright position. If the car is equipped with a seat belt height adjuster, x this at the lowest position. Ensure that the seat belt adjuster is in the rear position (or most aligned) with the vehicle seat backrest.
- Do not install the car seat on the front seat if equipped with an active front AIRBAG. In the case of installation on any seat protected by an airbag, always refer to the car instruction manual.
Pull the FIX bracket adjustment lever to extend the brackets (1A). As shown in the gure, to retract the FIX connectors, pull the handle, at the same time using your other hand to push the connectors towards the base, in the direction of the arrow (1B).
2. ADJUSTING THE HEADREST
A correctly adjusted headrest ensures that the diagonal seat belt section is optimally positioned, and gives your child the optimal protection. The headrest must be adjusted so that there is a space two ngers wide between the headrest and your child’s shoulders. To adjuste the height of the headrest to t your child:
1. Reach into the adjustment handle on the back of the headrest and pull it upwards.
This unlocks the headrest.
2. Adjust the headrest to the desired height. The headrest will lock in the new position
as soon as the handle is released.
3. Position the car seat on the vehicle seat. Place the child in the car seat and check the
height of the headrest. Adjust the headrest until it is at the desired height.
3. ADJUSTING THE SIDE WINGS
Pull and hold the side wing adjustment lever, then extend or retract the side wing to suit the child’s size. Release the lever and check that the side wing is locked in the new position. Repeat on the opposite wing.
4. ADJUSTING SEAT INCLINATION
Push the button and simultaneously adjust seat inclination to the new position. Release the button, a “click” will indicate that it is locked in the new position. It is recommended to adjust the inclination before securing the child with the 3-point seat belt.
5. INSTALLATION WITH 3-POINT SAFETY BELT IN COMBINATION WITH FIX
CONNECTORS Please read the instructions on the use of child restraint systems described in your vehicle owner’s manual. Find the ISOFIX anchorage points in the vehicle seat. Tips: the ISOFIX anchorage points are located between the surface and the backrest of the vehicle seat. Insert two Smart Fix guides to the ISOFIX lower anchorages respectively (5A) FIX guides make it easier to install using the Smart Fix connectors and prevent damage to the upholstery.
1. Remove the vehicle seat headrest if it prevents you from adjusting the car seat
headrest to the desired height (5B, 5C).
2. Press lever “A” to extend the FIX connectors. Release the lever (5D).
3. Line up the Smart Fix connectors with the FIX guides. Attach the two Smart Fix
connectors to the two anchorages points on the vehicle seat respectively. You will hear two sounds of “clicks”. And check the FIX indicator on each side turns to green (5E).
4. Pull the handle, at the same time push the car seat as far back as possible (5F). Make
sure the back of child seat is against the backrest of vehicle seat rmly.
6. UNFASTENING YOUR CHILD SEAT
To unfastening your child seat, please press the button “1” and simultaneously pull the FIX release button “2”. The ISOFIX indicator will turn red. Repeat this process on both ISOFIX release buttons.
7. INSTALLATION WITH 3-POINT SAFETY BELT
1. Check that both FIX connectors are in the original position (innermost). If not, press
and hold the FIX adjustment lever and simultaneously push the FIX connector arms back into the base of the car seat (7A).
2. Position the car seat on the vehicle seat, checking that the car seat backrest is
aligned with that of the vehicle seat. Note: remove or rotate the seat headrest if it obstructs this process (7B).
3. Follow the directions in paragraph “8. Securing your child” to complete installation.
8. SECURING YOUR CHILD
Before securing your child in the child seat, please make sure the headrest is adjusted to the correct position (see section 2, 8A). Check your vehicle’s manual to see if your vehicle is equipped with ISOFIX lower anchorages; choose one method of installation in the vehicle, either section 5 o 7 was followed correctly.
1. Have your child sit down in the child seat.
2. Regulate the width of the side wings, if necessary.
3. Pull out the safety belt and guide it to in front of your child to the seat buckle. Buckle
it up with an audible “click” (8B).
4. Guide the lap belt and one end of diagonal belt to the belt guides under the both
5. Insert the diagonal portion of the chest belt into the guide under the headrest (8D).
6. Remove all the slackness of safety belts to the retractor (8E). Pull the diagonal part of
the car belt upwards, so that the entire belt is taut and snug against the child’s chest and legs, without tightening the belt excessively.
7. To remove the child from the car seat, simply unclasp the seat belt buckle,
accompanying the belt as it rolls up. Checklist before you go:
- The diagonal belt must run over in the middle of your child’s shoulder, not in his or her neck (8A).
- The chest belt must pass through the guide placed under the headrest (8D).
- The headrest must be positioned so that there is a gap of two ngers between it and the child’s shoulders (8A).
- The lap belt must lie as low as possible on your child’s pelvis on both sides (8A).
- No parts of belt should be twisted.
The KID-PAD is a device that must ALWAYS be installed on the diagonal vehicle seat belt to ensure proper protection in the event of an impact. Position the diagonal belt under the two Velcro straps of the KID-PAD (9A), close the KID-PAD on itself (g. 9B. 9C, 9D) making sure that the shaped part is positioned between the chin and the chest of the child (Fig. 9E). WARNING! The KID-PAD must ALWAYS be used.
10. REMOVING THE COVER
- Seat cover: release the elastics and unclasp the press studs at the rear and on the seat cover. Remove the cover by sliding it off along the outer edge and the edge of the seat recliner device, pulling gently.
- Backrest cover: remove the cover from the side wings by sliding it off along the outer edge of the wings and pulling gently. Unhook the velcro and remove the backrest cover.
- Headrest cover: remove the headrest cover by sliding it off along the outer edge and the edge of the chest belt guide, pulling gently.
11. REPLACING THE COVER
- Chair cover: put the cover on the seat, slide it onto the outer edge and the edge of the seat recliner device. Attach the press studs and the elastics to the rear.
- Backrest cover: put the cover onto the outer edge of the wings, fasten the velcro ap to the backrest.
- Headrest cover: slide the headrest cover onto the outer edge and the edge of the chest belt guide. Check the cover is correctly positioned on the outer edge of the car seat.
- The child seat must not be used without the seat cover.
- The cover can be washed with a mild detergent using the washing machine’s cycle for delicate items (30°C).
- The colors of the cover may fade if it is washed at more than 30°C.
- Do not spin, and never tumble dry in an electric clothes dryer (the fabric may separated from the padding).
- The plastic parts can be cleaned using soap warer.
FORMAL GUARANTEE The contents of this document as stated below will come into effect as from
01.01.2005 and replace, on every account
and in full, any previous message referring to the guarantee provided by Foppa Pedretti S.p.A. FORMAL GUARANTEE Foppa Pedretti S.p.A. the head office of which is located at n. 11 Via Volta, Grumello del Monte (Italy), guarantees directly to the Consumer that this brand new product is free of faults with regard to the materials, design and manufacture and that it complies with the characteristics as declared by the manufacturer. This formal guarantee is valid in all Member Countries of the European Union and it neither excludes nor limits the Consumer’s rights in accordance with mandatory measures provided for by the law with regard to the Retailer of the Product. To take advantage of this formal guarantee, the Consumer must return the faulty product to the Retailer, presenting to the same the proof of purchase of the Product which must clearly show the Retailer’s address, the date of purchase of the Product with the Retailer’s stamp and signature and an indication of the Product itself or, alternatively, the receipt which must not have been altered and which must clearly show the same information as that referred to above. The formal guarantee is valid for twelve (12) months from the date of purchase of the Product. During this period, Foppa Pedretti S.p.A. will repair or replace the faulty product, at its own discretion. The formal guarantee is granted to the end buyer of the Product (Consumer) and it neither excludes nor limits the mandatory rights of the Consumer as provided for by the law and/or the rights that the Consumer may have with regard to the Dealer/Retailer of the Product.
EXCLUSIONS TO THE FORMAL
GUARANTEE. The formal guarantee is excluded in the case of damage caused to the Product for the following reasons: if the product is used in a way that does not comply with the information contained in the use and assembly instruction sheet, if the product is knocked or dropped, if the Product is exposed to humidity or extreme heat or environmental conditions, or to sudden changes in the same, corrosion, oxidization, unauthorized alterations or repairs to the Product, repairs using unauthorised spare parts, improper use, improper maintenance or failure to carry out the same, improper maintenance compared to the information given on the use and assembly instruction sheet, incorrect assembly, accidents, damage caused by food or drink, damage caused by chemical products, cases of force majeure. In any case, Foppa Pedretti S.p.A. declines all responsibility for damage caused to persons or to property, other than the Product, when such damage is caused by a failure to comply with the instructions/advice/warnings cont a ined in the manua l or, alternatively, in the use and assembly instruction sheet provided with each Product for the owner/user. (Purely as an example, in the case of a cot : “Check your baby constantly. Make sure that the sheets and blankets do not cover the baby’s head…”). Furthermore, Foppa Pedretti S.p.A. declines all responsibility for damage to persons and to property when the breakage of its products is due to a deterioration in the components of the Product that are subject to wear. The Skill i-Size car seat is an i-Size Booster Restraint System approved under the R129 standard for use on all vehicle seats bearing the “i-Size” logo, for children from 100 to135 cm tall, and to be used with a 3-point seat belt.
- Refer to the list of vehicles in the following cases:
- Children from 135 to 150 cm tall
- Vehicle equipped with Isofix car positions that are not i-Size.
- Only to be installed on the seats of the vehicles included in this list.
- The list is subject to continual revision with changes and additions of car models.

- Always refer to the car instruction manual for any exclusions.
- The ISOFIX weight and size classes for the Skill i-Size Restraint System are B2 and B3.
