REFERENCE Your child’s safety may be compromised if you do not correctly follow the instructions as shown in the manual.

• Never leave your child alone and unsupervised.

• Before each use check that the product is correctly assembled and that none of the components are damaged.

• WARNING: Before assembly, check that the product and all its components have not been damaged during transportation. Should any part be damaged, do not use and keep out of reach of children.

• ATTENTION: This barrier is not recommended for use by children under 18 months of age.

• ATTENTION: This barrier is not recommended for use by children over 4 years of age.

• The barrier is intended for children able to climb in and out of bed unaided.

• The bed rail should not be used as a substitute for a cot, as it cannot provide the same level of safety as a cot.

• WARNING: Do not use the product unless all the components are correctly fitted and adjusted.

• WARNING: Ensure that during use, the product mesh is in contact with the mattress side surface.

• WARNING: Never use without the fastening straps firmly fixed to the bed.

• WARNING: The fastening straps must never be removed from the plastic supports and left within the reach of newborn babies and children.

• WARNING: Before each use, make sure that the protective barrier is fully open and firmly fixed.

• WARNING: Do not use accessories, spare parts, or any component not supplied or approved by the manufacturer, as they may make the bed guard unsafe.

• WARNING: The barrier must not be installed on an extra mattress, outdoor, cot.

• WARNING: do not use the product if any part is broken, torn or missing

• WARNING! Do not leave anything in the cot or place the cot close to another product, which could provide a foothold or present a danger of suffocation or strangulation, e.g. strings, blind/curtain cords, etc..

• WARNING: Do not let other children play unattended close to the bed guard or climb on it.

• WARNING: The product must not be used by adults, bed-ridden people or the elderly, or in a non-domestic environment.

• WARNING: When folded store away from children.

• WARNING: The barrier can be fitted on metallic mesh or slats, make sure that the distances between the elements (metallic mesh or slats) are smaller than the size of the base of the barrier.

• Do not use the product for the elderly or outside of the home environment.

• The rail may not be used on a bed which has a height of more than 600 mm from the ground.

• Do not use the rail on the top bed of set of bunk beds.

• It is advisable not to use a low-density mattress, because the low weight of the mattress will not hold the rail down properly to the bed.

• The rail should not be placed on a bed with sides and you do not need to add an extra mattress.

• ATTENTION! To prevent the risk of strangulation it is essential to ensure that, when the bed barrier is in place, there is a space of at least 250 mm between each end of the bed and the corresponding end of the barrier.

• Never leave the opposite side of the bed without protection. Protect this side of the bed by placing it against the wall or suitable barrier.

• Always make sure that any adults looking after the child are informed about these warnings or ask them to read the instructions.

• Never let other children handle or play with the safety rail.

• This bed rail is not a replacement for a cot with sides, as it is not able to ensure the same level of safety.

• Only use this product with mattresses which are a maximum of 200 mm and at a minimum of 100 mm in thickness. WARNING• ENGLISH •

• The mattress chosen must have a distance of at least 200 mm between the surface of the mattress and the upper side of the barrier.

• This product is suitable for beds and mattresses with a min. width of 80 cm and a max. of 110 cm.

• This product is suitable for beds and mattresses with a min. length of 145 cm and a max. of 250 cm.

• Discontinue using the product if there is any damage or if any problems arise during use.

• Be careful not to place your child’s bed near to electrical equipment or to other objects that may cause a fire.

• Do not use the bed rail as protection for bath tubs or swimming pools.

• Reclining the bed rail into an incorrect position or using non-original components may cause damage or make the product dangerous. Follow the instructions in the manual during assembly. Before each use, make sure that the protection barrier is fully open and fixed on firmly.

• The protection barrier is not a toy.

• Do not allow children to climb over the bed rail, as it could recline and cause injury to the child.

• To avoid serious injury, periodically check that the barrier is securely in place.

• The protection barrier must be opened and closed carefully so that your fingers do not get trapped.

• While the protection barrier is being adjusted or assembled on the bed, make sure that children keep they fingers, hands and other parts of the body at a safe distance away from the moving parts.

• If the protection barrier becomes broken or damaged, stop using it straight away.

• Once in place, the bed barrier must be checked to ensure that it is correctly assembled and secure.

• The bed barrier must be periodically checked with regard to its general condition, with particular reference to the safety of any closing mechanisms and/or hinges used on the product. MAINTENANCE Check the state of the components periodically and immediately replace any damaged parts. CLEANING Do not get the main frame wet; wipe over it using a damp cloth. Clean the product with a sponge or damp cloth, using a mild detergent. Do not use harsh detergents or bleach.

Lift up the tube “E” on both sides (as shown in the gure).

Lift up the central joint, ensuring that it is attached correctly. The joint “F” must be in a horizontal position. IMPORTANT: Make sure that the joint “F” is securely locked by checking that the frame does not bend when pushed downwards.

Assemble the tubes “B” and “C”, joining them together in the middle. Press the pin G to allow them to attach and slot the pin into the hole H. IMPORTANT: The components are correctly assembled when the metal pins are locked into the holes on the tubes, a “click” will indicate that they have locked in successfully. IMPORTANT: Make sure that the metal pin is correctly locked in its hole, a “click” will indicate that it has locked in successfully.

Insert the tube into the fabric, as shown in the gure, and then slot the metal pin into the hole, by pressing down the pin “I”. Repeat this process on the opposite side. A D

INSTALLATION Lift the mattress off the bed and place the bed rail between the base and the mattress. Position the locking mechanisms “L” on the opposite side and tighten the belt with the buckle “M”. IMPORTANT: Make sure that the bed rail is correctly locked; when pulling it towards the outer side, it must not slip out from under the bed.

RECLINING THE BED RAIL

To lower the protection barrier, lift up the buttons “N” and recline the side (as shown in the gure). OK!OK!OK! NO!NO!NO! 25cm 25cm WARNING! To avoid the risk of strangulation, leave a distance of at least 25 cm between the end of the bed rail and the headboard or any other furniture placed near to the rail. A D

EEFBHGCIclick!click! NLM Press down the pin “I” (g. 5), and remove the tube from its hole. Repeat this process also on the opposite side. Remove the tube from the fabric. Press down the pin “G” and unhook the tubes. Press down the button “F” in the middle of the side to release the locking device, and fold the frame downwards as shown in the gure. Store the frame and the metal tubes in the carrying bag.• ENGLISH •

FORMAL GUARANTEE The contents of this document as stated below will come into effect as from 01.01.2005 and replace, on every account and in full, any previous message referring to the guarantee provided by Foppa Pedretti S.p.A. FORMAL GUARANTEE Foppa Pedretti S.p.A. the head office of which is located at n. 11 Via Volta, Grumello del Monte (Italy), guarantees directly to the Consumer that this brand new product is free of faults with regard to the materials, design and manufacture and that it complies with the characteristics as declared by the manufacturer. This formal guarantee is valid in all Member Countries of the European Union and it neither excludes nor limits the Consumer’s rights in accordance with mandatory measures provided for by the law with regard to the Retailer of the Product. To take advantage of this formal guarantee, the Consumer must return the faulty product to the Retailer, presenting to the same the proof of purchase of the Product which must clearly show the Retailer’s address, the date of purchase of the Product with the Retailer’s stamp and signature and an indication of the Product itself or, alternatively, the receipt which must not have been altered and which must clearly show the same information as that referred to above. The manufacturer’s formal guarantee is valid for twelve (12) months from the date of purchase of the Product. During this period, Foppa Pedretti S.p.A. will repair or replace the faulty product, at its own discretion. The formal guarantee is granted to the end buyer of the Product (Consumer) and it neither excludes nor limits the mandatory rights of the Consumer as provided for by the law and/or the rights that the Consumer may have with regard to the Dealer/Retailer of the Product. EXCLUSIONS TO THE FORMAL GUARANTEE. The formal guarantee is excluded in the case of damage caused to the Product for the following reasons: if the product is used in a way that does not comply with the information contained in the use and assembly instruction sheet, if the product is knocked or dropped, if the Product is exposed to humidity or extreme heat or environmental conditions, or to sudden changes in the same, corrosion, oxidization, unauthorized alterations or repairs to the Product, repairs using unauthorised spare parts, improper use, improper maintenance or failure to carry out the same, improper maintenance compared to the information given on the use and assembly instruction sheet, incorrect assembly, accidents, damage caused by food or drink, damage caused by chemical products, cases of force majeure. In any case, Foppa Pedretti S.p.A. declines all responsibility for damage caused to persons or to property, other than the Product, when such damage is caused by a failure to comply with the instructions/advice/warnings cont a ined in the manua l or, alternatively, in the use and assembly instruction sheet provided with each Product for the owner/user. (Purely as an example, in the case of a cot : “Check your baby constantly. Make sure that the sheets and blankets do not cover the baby’s head…”). Furthermore, Foppa Pedretti S.p.A. declines all responsibility for damage to persons and to property when the breakage of its products is due to a deterioration in the components of the Product that are subject to wear.
