Correct use

This article was produced exclusively for private use and can be reused. The compress is microwave safe.

Indications for the application of heat:

- Muscle pain and muscle stiffness in the lumbar region where the heat treatment gives pleasant relief.

Indications for the application of cold:

- Temporary pain relief for crush injuries, strains, and bruises and as an additional measure to counter infections and swellings.

Do not use during the following or in the event that:

• The patient cannot sense heat or cold
- Arterial circulatory disturbances and Raynaud's syndrome
• Physical or sporting activity
- Skin disease and open wounds in the treatment area
• People with limited mental capacities
- Simultaneous treatment with painkillers and temperature perception disorders (e.g. in diabetics)

Do not use cold treatments for:

• Acute renal (pelvis) diseases
- Bladder infections

- Infections or high temperature

Safety notes Risk of injury!

  • Handle with care after heating.
  • Not a toy. Only designed to be used by adults.
  • Application on children may only be carried out under the guidance of a supervisor.
  • Do not swallow contents. Do not overheat.
  • The stated warming and pre-cooling times must be observed at all times.
  • Check the fastening belt and the compress for tears and damage before each use. The article may only be used while in perfect condition. Do not use defective fastening belt or compress.

  • The cooled or warmed compress may not be placed directly on the skin. Use the fastening belt with the hook-and-loop fastener or wrap the compress in a cloth prior to use.

  • If problems occur during use please remove the fastening belt immediately and consult a doctor if the problems continue.
  • Please ensure that the fastening belt is pleasantly secure but not too tight. Consult your doctor if in doubt.
  • Never apply the fastening belt so tightly that circulation is impeded.
  • Do not wear the article while sleeping or during longer rest such as sitting for a long period.
  • Keep to the stated application times. Do not wear the fastening belt continuously or for a longer period.
  • Wash the areas of skin that come into contact with the fastening belt thoroughly and regularly.
  • The skin must be free of gels, grease, ointments, oils, or similar materials in order to avoid allergic reactions.

Possible side effects

- If you experience complaints while wearing the belt (e.g. tingling, numbness, pain, swelling, or discolouration of the skin) remove the fastening belt immediately.

- There is a risk of skin irritations. In some cases skin reactions and irritation may occur. For this reason please ensure that the stated maximum periods of wear are not exceeded and that the areas of skin that come into contact with the fastening belt are washed thoroughly and regularly. Consult a doctor immediately if complaints arise.

Application of heat

When heat is applied burns may result from long application already at 50°C.

Remove the compress from the fastening belt before you heat it.

Heating in a microwave:

Set the microwave to the highest power level to a maximal of 600 watts. Heat the compress for 15-25 seconds. Test whether the compress has reached a pleasant temperature.

Continue heating if necessary and check the temperature every 10 seconds.

IMPORTANT: If your microwave has a different maximum power level, then adjust the heating time correspondingly.

Heating in a water bath:

  1. Boil water in a pan.
  2. Remove the pan from the heat and place the hot/cold compress in the water for approximately 1-3 minutes.
  3. Check after 3 minutes and if necessary every minute thereafter to see if an appropriate temperature has been reached.

Application time: approximately 20-40 minutes at 40^ C.

Application of cold

Do not place the hot/cold compress in the freezer to cool it for application. There is a risk of frostbite or hypothermia!

Place the compress in a fridge at 5^ C for at least 1 hour.

Application time: approximately 10 minutes.

Inserting the cold or warm compress

Open the pocket on the fastening belt and slide the warmed or cooled compress inside (figure B).

Then close the tabs on the pocket again (figure C).

Wearing the article

CAUTION! The fastening belt should be pleasantly secure but not too tight.

Circulation must be maintained in the bandaged body part. Place the compress at the desired area and close the hook-and-loop fastener on the fastening belt.

Wear the fastening belt as shown on the hip, back or stomach (figure D).

Cleaning and care

Fastening belt:

  • Wash the fastening belt thoroughly before the first use. Close the hook-and-loop fastener before washing.
  • We recommend washing it again after every two or three uses.
  • Rinse the fastening belt thoroughly after washing.
  • Only wash with similar colours.

Cold/hot compress:

  • Wipe the compress with a damp cloth after each use. You may use a mild cleaning agent.
  • Then rinse the compress with clear water.

Storage

We recommend always storing the article clean and dry at room temperature when not in use in order to enjoy it for as long as possible.

Disposal

Dispose of the article and the packaging materials in accordance with current local regulations. Packaging materials such as foil bags are not suitable to be given to children. Keep the packaging materials out of the reach of children.
