Only use the device for the intended purpose. In case of longer absence, vacations, etc., empty the device, clean it and pull the power plug. In case of frost hazards, also remove the remaining water, see section „Evaporate device“ on page 18. The line voltage must match the information on the name plate. Connect the device only to earthed 3-pin electrical outlets. Your warranty rights may expire in case of a wrong connection. Do not damage the mains cable by hot or sharp-edged parts, do not let them hang down (risk of tripping) and do not touch them with wet hands. If the appliance has been exposed to temperatures below freezing, please wait at least three hours before turning on to give it time to warm up to room temper- ature. A frozen or very cold appliance may not work correctly. Rinse the appli- ance four times in succession before using for the rst time. For this, press the hot water button again after completing the rinsing process. When using a water lter, please read the instructions on page 12. Risk of scald- ing! Very hot water. Pour out rinsing water. off 3 s min. Beverage preparaTiOn The beverage preparation is carried out with different brewing cycles depending on the button pressed (see page 10). The appliance turns off automat- ically if it is not used within ve minutes. If necessary, switch the appli- ance on again with the on/ off button before preparing beverages. Please do not remove your glass until all buttons light up again. Risk of scald- ing! Very hot water. The duration and intervals of the water ow are dif- ferent for the different types of tea, so that each tea is brewed just right. Select the button colour that match- es the capsule (e.g. green capsule → green button for green tea). Chai Latte is made with two capsules without a break. Rinse the appli- ance with water after each use. PROGRAMMING CUP QUANTITIES (adjusting quantities to the cup size) For tea, programming changes the lling quantity of the last brewing interval, but not the brewing time(s). The new lling quantities are saved (even after a power interrup- tion). It is possible to reset the cup quantities to the factory settings. Read the oper- ating and safety instructions for the water lter carefully. For hygiene reasons, we advise you to replace the water lter at the latest every three months at the latest. Rinse water lter 2x in succession. Use the rotary scale to set the month for the next lter change. Eject existing capsule. Empty all containers. Rinse appliance. Turn and remove outlet. CLEANING THE APPLIANCE DAILY (or after last use) Risk of damage! Clean only with a damp cloth and if necessary a mild detergent (do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning agents). Do not put appli- ance parts in the dishwasher. Health hazard! If the appliance is not used for a long period without being rinsed and cleaned beforehand, deposits may form which are difcult to remove. Risk of scalding! Empty the drip trays and cap- sule collection container carefully. For hygienic reasons and for optimal beverage quality, we recommend rinsing the appliance before and after preparing each beverage Clean all parts and put back into the appliance. Read the instruc- tions for using the cleaning capsule carefully and follow the safety guidelines. Risk of scald- ing! Empty the drip trays and capsule collection contain- er carefully. The water lter (optional) can stay in the water tank. Only use cleansing capsules that are suitable for the K-fee

For hygiene reasons, we recommend cleaning the appliance every two weeks with a cleaning capsule. After using milk-based drink capsules, daily cleaning with the cleaning capsule is recommended. Health hazard! Read the instruc- tions for using the descaler carefully and follow the safety instructions. Risk of scalding! Empty the drip trays and capsule collection container carefully. Repeat the des- caling process (photos 7–11) 8 x in total. Caution! Re- move the water lter before des- caling. Prepare the appli- ance for descal- ing (temperature reduction): rst turn off the appliance. Now press and hold the hot water button. Then press the on/off button. Release both buttons again. Turn off the appliance to end the temperature reduction for descaling. Rinse the appliance 4 x in succession. Only use descalers that are suitable for the K-fee

With water lter, for optimum operation the appliance should be descaled once a year. Allow to work. Rinse and clean the water tank thoroughly. Off 3 s min. max. This is advisable for hygiene reasons and prevents damage to the appliance:

• In case of longer absence (e.g. holiday) germs can form in the residual water.

• Residual water can freeze in the appliance when the appliance is transported or stored at a tem- perature below the freezing point. CAUTION Extreme temperatures can damage the appliance (permissible operating tempera- ture 10 – 45° C). Therefore

• protect the appliance against frost,

• First warm up the appliance to room temperature if necessary.

Open and close the lever to eject an existing capsule.

• Remove and empty the water tank.

• Place a receptacle under the outlet.

• Make sure that the appliance is turned off. WARNING Risk of scalding! Hot steam (up to 120° C) and hot water are produced during evap- oration. Do not reach under the outlet and keep a safe distance from the outlet. Handle the hot recep- tacle under the outlet with care.

• Press and hold the buttons “black tea” and “herbal/ fruit tea” together. Now press the on/off button. Then release all buttons again. The evaporation begins and the button “green tea” starts to ash.

• After evaporation, the appliance switches off automatically.

• Remove and empty receptacle.

• Empty and dry drip trays and capsule collection container.

• Replace empty water tank.

• Wipe the front of the body dry with a cloth. sTeaming The appliance FreQuenTly asKeD QuesTiOns The appliance only works with capsules that are marked with the K-fee

system logo. The beverage dispensing is delayed? The appliance is adjusting the temperature for the desired beverage. The capsule collection container is overfull and jammed? Try to remove the capsule collection container by shaking gently. The drink is not hot enough? Warm the cup rst. If necessary, descale the appliance - see “Descaling the appliance”. Switch the appliance off after descaling to end the temperature reduction. The hot water button ashes red and fast? Switch off the appliance and unplug. If the problem continues, please contact customer service. The drink is not delivered properly? Press the lever all the way down. If necessary, descale the appliance - see “Descaling the appliance”. Do I need to descale the appliance if I use a water lter? Even when using a water lter, depending on the location and the water quality, mineral deposits may still occur. Therefore, we recommend carrying out an annual cleaning rinse with the K-fee system

descaler. The appliance suddenly turns off during intensive use? In case of insufcient cooling time, the appliance turns off automatically to protect against overheating. In this case, the rinsing and milk buttons ash slowly for about 60 s. After this, operation is possible again. The appliance turns itself off? The appliance turns off automatically if it is not used within ve minutes. Please note that the appliance consumes electricity as long as it is connected to the power supply (<0.5 W). Reset the appliance to factory settings? First switch off the appliance. Then press and hold the “green tea” button and the hot water button together. Now press the on/off button. Then release the buttons. To conrm, all the buttons on the front ash once. Please note that the device has been designed exclusively for tea and milk capsules. GB GB20 1
